Sorry for extra tits, but maybe anons are interested in this since pic related is a new official artwork of Noda. >In 17 days, Golden Kamuy live action has amassed 1.11 million viewers and 1.63 billion yen in the box office. To celebrate it, starting 10 February, 300,000 two-sided A5 shikishi featuring Noda-sensei's art will be distributed to viewers in cinemas.I wish I could be there I want this shikishi. I was surprised when I saw a bunch of funny fanart with Tsurumi dragging Ogata behind him before I found this.
>>3864950i saw some on my tl too, im so jealous because i want the shikishi too, hopefully i can snag one

>>3865381c u t e
>>3866099Yeah it's one of those series where I knew that it would enter my permanent top 10 list. Would say that this and Dorohedoro are the two best manga I have finished the last ten years. It's of course a matter of preferences and I have read a bunch of other fantastic series but there is a difference between a series that is great and a great series I start to obsess over and collect fanart of (or draw some myself) aka stuff I become an actual fan of, which is rare. Lots of great Usami fanart last week by the way, due to his birthday.
>>3871210i agree, it's the first series in a while where i am collecting fanart and even merch of the charactersits without a doubt my favourite series of all time
>>3871308We are lucky, it's one of the very few series where the male characters get merch. And in this case it's a lot. Buying the figures alone is already almost forcing you to get an extra job if you want them all, it's fun.Bless Noda for sticking to the pandering. No shounen endings with sudden no name girlfriends, no "no homo" confirmation at the end, rather the opposite, as some characters like Usami, Koito and such got super gay endings. The success of this (and current series like Bravern) will hopefully once and for all show that gay pandering and gay characters aren't risky at all, you just have to do it right and have fun with it. Nothing is worse than the corporate, healthy, educative gay content many western productions have or the insecure gay pandering of many anime that want the gay and fujo audience but are too afraid of delivering because gays are scary.
>>3871367im so glad it does get a lot of merch and love, the cast is absolutely fantastici agree with your other points too, there is a very clear demand in series like this and noda absolutely killed it, its been two years since the manga has completed and was in the top 10 best selling manga series this january
>>3871418I didn't even notice that. That must have been the movie boost, I am glad that it works. You rarely see this happening with live action I think. >there is a very clear demand in series like thisYeah. As quirky and crazy as the guys are they are strangely relatable with their flaws. At least more than the generic highschool MC. I guess it's a series that just works for a broader audience. From my experience I don't know any people that drop such series because of the gay jokes, not even the dudes that are usually complaining about gayness.
>>3871442yeah the live action was really good i heard and a sequel is confirmed which is greathopefully more series like golden kamuy can be created but i dont think anything for me will come close to it
>>3871458This is the first time in ages that I am interested in a live action adaption. I hope that it will get a screening in the west or an upload somewhere. Do you know at which point the first movie ends? Vaguely, because I can imagine that it deviates quite much from the source. >but I don't think anything for me will come close to itThis is the problem with such series. The outstanding ones are very original and specific and just happen to push all the right buttons for you otherwise they wouldn't be outstanding. So get 10 similar series and they won't work like this because they aren't about this exact mix of genres, characters and preferences. I have the same issue with what I would call my other top 5 shows that I accumulated throughout my life. The only person that could ever make something like that again would be the exact same writer or team that made the ones I like. But they either stopped making things or work on different genres now.
>>3871508here's to hoping something down the line can be just as good as GK, though im just going to enjoy this ride for now
happy birthday ushiyama!
>>3872655(belated) happy birthday
>>3873272love this artist
>>3873664
>>3862668
>>3873664me too
>>3877398What are they saying?
>>3877758>top right title: can they wait or can they not wait>top left in bold letters : they can>bottom right in bold letters: they cant>usami: thats fine, its a bit fast right>yuusaku: yes of course!>shiraishi: ah, I can (text on right hand says "im good~")>tsukshima: ah..how long is a good time to wait>koito: ....i got it/understood>vasily: its my choice to wait>sugimoto: its still...not enough?>ogata: i got it, i got it, now undressrough japanese translation
>>3878024Thanks for the TL. Damn Usami gives 0 fucks.
>>3878039no problem, usami gives off that nonchalant vibe if you were ever insane enough to date him
>>3878045>nonchalantLame! I'm sure he would show a bit more life with Tsurumi. He's cutest in his yandere moments.
happy birthday to tsukishima!
>>3873664I wish there were more funny serial killers in anime and manga.
>>3878670i agree, he was fun to watch
>>3878642So glad we allow canonical transgirls on this board..! ^_^
happy birthday to arisaka!
>>3879613I don't know if you can ship friendships but if you can then that's what I do with Arisaka and Tsurumi. They seemed to have so much fun hanging out together.
The only bad part about GK is that I feel like it was one of the series raised my standards which makes it harder being hyped for shows with a similar style afterwards. I hate to say it, but that's at least how my brain works. It's very rare for a manga to be as funny as it's serious and tragic without letting the comedy aspect take over and turn mayor deaths into a joke, so when I see someone telling me that a fun series was indeed forced to leave half of the plot points unanswered or ignore emotional development because it can only do one thing I have to think of GK and imagine how Noda would have made it work.
>>3880202i agree, it's one of the very few series that i actually connected with the characters as well and became my favourite manga of all time
>>3880226I feel like it will take another decade till I find another anime or manga I like as much. Granted it's hard for anime since originals are usually one cours and not enough to get me attached for long and they lack the development and proper plot progression that longer series have. Not to mention that the majority turns to shit halfway in. But even with manga it's hard to find anything truly good.Well I am glad that the fanbase largely feels the same, since I still see them drawing tons of art for it even years after the manga has ended.
>>3880407
>>3880407im so glad this series still gets lots of love, we still have the live action and the final season of the anime so theres lots more art and goods to come
>>3880400Why does being a dentist fit Ogata so well?
>>3880433they both enjoy hurting people, but jokes aside noda said that in the present time ogata would be a small time dentist as his occupation
>>3880448small town**
>>3880433For me it's because I'm thinking of Dr. Feinstone from the Dentist movies.
>>3880426I have rarely ever seen such a "society" dude in manga as Ogata. You get some psychopaths or killers every now and then, but they are always either comical or too extreme to feel realistic, Ogata is the exact type of dude I expected to start a shooting or something when he started to appear more often in the manga. I mean I guess he's a sniper so he targets few people, but I wasn't really wrong either.
