Not only did that through out their original post-Krakoa plans, but it also shortened Fall of X by about six months. Gillen and Ewing have both talked about how Immortal and Red were supposed to go on for quite a bit longer than where they ended. Immortal got repackaged as Forever, but Red ended. Resurrection of Magneto was very much its own thing.This is also why Duggan is just wrapping up all his plots without bothering to try and make it good. He thought he'd have another six issues or so, but that all got cut.

Moira put her mind in a robot body, joined Orchis, and sicced the Eternals onto Krakoa to kill them all, resulting in Magneto dying. Orchis then slaughtered nearly everyone on Krakoa and Xavier sent the survivors to random spots including the White Room to escape. The surviving X-Men united with Iron Man, who's company was stolen by Orchis to build new Sentinels, to launch a counter assault but Xavier knows the plan is doomed and has cut a deal with Omega to betray humanity so long as mutantkind lives in a sort of zoo environment. However he's hedging his bets and trying to resurrect the Phoenix, who Sinister's wife killed while putting something in Moira's mind as she cut her own side deal with Essex to merge with him but retail her mental freedom. The X-Men have since resurrected Phoenix via merging it with Jean but it's still weak as Essex is planning an assault on Jean to kill the Phoenix once and for all.
