Do you consider these first-person novels in cartoons to be /co/?

Yes
>>
I consider them /lit/.
>>
>>143347561
I mean, they literally have comics in them.
>>
>>143347646
Can't they be both?

I consider them high art.

I don't think that counts. It's written from a 3rd person perspective rather than 1st person.
>>
>>143348085
I know it sounds stupid, but George and Harold inspired me to try my hand at being an entrepreneur.
>>
>>143348459
And how did that work out for you, Anon?
>>
>>143348347
It's like a close relative of the examples in OP's image in my opinion
>>
>>143348085
For me, it's Judy Moody and Cam Jansen. I'm scared to talk about them on /co/, though.
>>
>>143348781
>Judy Moody
My only memory, other than seeing them on top of my elementary school library shelves, is of the Poptropica promotion and catching the movie on cable years later. I was bewildered at the fact that it got a movie.

Did anyone actually read those Timmy Failure books? Also I'm just now finding out they adapted this.
>>
>>143349121
I did as a kid, mainly the first one as I actually owned it. I remember it being strangely melancholy. I think I was more drawn Timmy's home life rather than his very retarded sleuth shenanigans.
>>
>>143348085
Based. Did unreadable comics as a kid and always had a House Comics logo in the bottom because I wanted to make comics like George and Harold
>>
>>143347561

Big Nate was a comic strip for decades before the novels. It just wasn't as successful as other kid strips because most of the characters are massive jerks.
>>
>>143348732
That's retarded
That's like saying EVERY Scholastic graphic novel counts

Man, Nut Weight has to be my favorite comic book character.
Speaking of which, you guys ever just go and find the original designs of comic characters and see how they evolve over time?
>>
>>143348708
I had a small book-making operation going before the teachers destroyed my enterprise. Now I make computer games on the side and sell them to people for free.
In other words, terribly.

I just remembered how messed up the middle school books were (bottom left guy). The main character is a kid whose mom's dating an abusive boyfriend, and at the end it's revealed that his best friend is actually an imagination of his twin brother who died at birth. The author wrote another book series (not illustrated iirc) about a kid who becomes a comedian to cope with the fact that his family died in a car accident that also left him permanently in a wheelchair. He also lives in the garage with his asshole relatvies

Amelia Rules doesn't really fit the criteria of OP
She's more in line with Calvin & Hobbes and Peanuts than DOAWK or Dear Dumb Diaries
She DOES narrate but it's far different from the diary format's handling of the first person perspective
>>
>>143352177
Yeah, I remember hating the movie because of how they removed most of that shit.
>>
>>143350585
I read a book in the 5th grade with a very similar premise. It was called Lunch Money. I bet you didn't even get the girl in the end.
>>
>>143351813
There's something about that How to Draw Manga style that I really like. Nikki is cute.
>>
>>143348781
>Judy Moody
Holy fuck, thank you, I was trying to remember the name of these books.
>>
>>143350782
>Poptropica island?
The what though?
>>
>>143355228
It was a Flash adventure game/MMO hybrid made by the Wimpy Kid guy. Some levels, called "islands" as that's how they're presented in the context of the game, were sometimes based other books.
>>143350782
There was 2 based on DOAWK, a Big Nate one and a Timmy Failure one. There were tie-in promos for Dork Diaries and Middle School too.
Poor Jamie got left out.
>>
>>143347561
Oh... Who is that little angel there in the bottom left..?

Looked into it. The website is a treasure trove of preteen girl emotions and budding sexuality. Thank you for bringing it to my attention

Read most of them growing up. I liked the part in of the sequels where timmy and molly go to a book store that has the authors of various other children's books on it.
>>

>>
>>143356287
These books took place very close to my middle school, and the author lived nearby. I always assumed they were just a small local thing
