I only really went along with it because I thought it would make us closer. It did and it was good for awhile. That kind of feeling you had as child learning about science and discovering the unseen microscopic processes that govern our reality for the first time. To be strange yet comforting. I lost sight of that. I'll never stop drawing even if the rest of the world won't see it for a long time yet.

>>143362790>>143362847Here's what I do: just take something common or cliche and alter it's properties until it's just barely recognizable as having been related to the original idea. Think "the ship of thesus". Every creation is made of certain "parts" you can swap out. So take a banana, make it blue, and now it's insides are like an orange instead. It retains just enough of it's original qualities to be connected to the original concept, but enough atypical traits to be recognized as something new. Sure it makes no sense and comes off kind of autistic but as an exercise it works. You have to think in possibilities and of what specifically you want out of the design. Ideally, you should do this WITHOUT directly copying the iconography or visual language of other character designs, as it comes off very donut steel if you do that.
