Let's talk about Marvel's gamma glamour gal. Do you like Rainbow Rowell's run? What's your favorite story with the character across her decades of history? For me it's Marvel Team-Up #107 with her and Spider-Man fighting Man-Killer, alongside the arc from her original series where she fought the televangelist and his super strong daughter.

BIG GREEN FEET
>>

>Do you like Rainbow Rowell's run?
No it's very selfish, Should have been a one off 60 page book.
>>
>>143370087
>Do you like Rainbow Rowell's run?
No. The less said the better but suffice it to say she’s just as out of character in that as she was in Aaron’s avengers or tamaki’s Hulk. I long for a straight white male writer who wants to write the title for straight white males. Not all female characters need to appeal to 35 year old perpetually online single women.
>What's your favorite story with the character across her decades of history?
Probably Sensational She-Hulk 5, “Saturdaze”, or Sensational She-Hulk 50 in which she tries out, and criticizes, a bunch of creative teams to replace Byrne.
>>
I hate that I got tricked into reading this character.
>>
But can we go back to having simple sexy adventures?
She has so much baggage & is marred beyond repair.
What's the point?
>>
>>143370087
Rainbow Rowell’s run is horrible. My favorite She-Hulk story is probably what >>143370376 said. Specifically SS50 which may genuinely be one of the best Big 2 single issues ever released.

>>143370451
Byrne’s FF and Sensational She-Hulk are both great though.
>>
>>143370087
I hate that they draw her as 600 pounds now. She was better when she looked like an 8 foot Victoria secret model in the OG Sensational run
>>
Why is she such a footslut?
>>
>>143370609
>Byrne’s FF and Sensational She-Hulk are both great though.
Goofs on here told me to read Slott's stuff & said it was good.

I'm raging misogynist & antisemite now.
>>
>>143370633
>8 foot
You mean 6'10" right?
you can't just make-up numbers like the holocaust.
>>
>>143370709
That was likely a paid shill. They based the show on that run and so we’re pushing it hard.

Read nothing by Slott, ever.

Byrne’s two stints on the Sensational title and his FF, which she appears in, are both great reads. The FF is more typical superhero fare but the Sensational run his him shitposting the entire industry and marvel brass of the time. It’s absolutely amazing.
>>
>>143370730
I don’t google retarded stats. In Byrne’s run she routinely makes tall men look short. 8 feet was not an exact figure but I don’t see her as 6’7” and don’t give a fuck about “official stats”.
>>
>>143370755
>That was likely a paid shill. They based the show on that run and so we’re pushing it hard.
No this was way before the show.
People on here still defend it.
Hands down on the most misogynist things Marvel has ever published.
It was like Slott was trying to get back at every woman that has rejected him & took-out Jen.
>>
>>143370709
>Goofs on here told me to read Slott's stuff & said it was good.
You’d have to be retarded to read a Dan slott comic rather than a John Byrne comic.
>>
>>143370846
Slott has been known to lurk, it was probably him or, again, likely a shill no matter when it was.

You still don't have a proper counter argument.
>>
>>143370899
One tranny who sees vision as an analog to his degeneracy does not mean /co/ hates Byrne.
>>
Okay so what specifically is wrong with the Rowell run?
>>
>>143371429
I love tons of Robit characters, Just The Vision is so fucking lame.
>>
>>143371466
Her relationship with Jack is inappropriate from the get go.
>>
>>143371491
Can you elaborate? I just know he's a D list hero that recently came back from the dead
>>
>>143371518
I rather not, Let say he undid all the character developed she had since 1980.
>>
>>143371466
It’s boring, slow as fuck, might as well be an OC (like most modern comics) all of the artists draw Jen as too bulky and the art is just ugly as fuck in general. I hate shit like Jen suddenly working for that cunt again of being friends with Titania (who also looked hideous) just because le women all stick together, I hate that it’s written for 35 year old women in general with the stupid gals night shit (tee hee “he knows what he did!”) and romance angle. I hate that action is secondary and SOL tier dogshit is primary, just like other female-focused books like Power Girl or that Fire and Ice book at DC.

I’m just sick of sexy, fun, female characters being reduced to depressed, “I’m not mad I’m disappointed with the world, but also I’m kinda mad” misery porn for modern women.

TLDR: it’s a comic made for 35 year old, perpetually single women who will never have a child and claim they’re happy but are really dead inside, rather than a comic for straight men age 15-50 who think cute women are great.
>>
To be She-Hulk fan you need a goldfish memory or the forgiveness of a saint.
Maybe a bit of both.
>>
>>143371548
I would still like to know
>>143371567
Anon no offense, and I'm not defending the book because I haven't read it, but it sounds like you're engaging in hyperbole where you didn't read the book either and just pissed off we're not getting John Byrne coom art. I'm interested in knowing what's wrong with the actual story
>>
>>143371466
It’s simply not a good comic, let alone a good cape comic. It treats action like a chore, resembles days of our lives more than avengers and isn’t concerned with anything but padding out issues so Rowell can put the trades on her literary bibliography as “graphic novels” on an attempt to get more non-comics work. It shouldn’t have lasted more than 6 issues which is the biggest slap in the face. Way too many modern comics that shit the bed sales wise and fan reception wise get kept on shelves for too long without a creative team being replaced.

As >>143371567 said it might as well be an OC.

Feels like Rowell’s literary agent managed to sign her a solid deal with 3 or 4 guaranteed trades and now they’ve made us waste two years waiting for her to finish.
>>
>>143371597
>I haven’t read it but I know that you, who referenced multiple different issues haven’t read it
NTA but you’re obviously a shill and focused on one part of their reply just to make a shitty remark of your own.

Why else are you so vigorously defending a comic you haven’t read in the two years it’s been out? I’m dead serious in asking.
>>
Guys stop we're aren't' allowed to criticize girl coded things let's just let Rainbow have her "Eat, Pray, Love" fanfiction.
>>
>>143371597
I told you, asshole.
> It’s boring, slow as fuck, might as well be an OC (like most modern comics)
>I hate that action is secondary and SOL tier dogshit is primary, just like other female-focused books like Power Girl or that Fire and Ice book at DC.

There it is with no mention of the art. It’s genuinely SOP tier simply because it’s cringeworthy, completely out of character and painfully boring.
>>
Remember that issue that Rainbow tells us we're the reason She-Hulk will never be happy?
>>
>>143371627
>Shill
Cmon anon. I just want him to actually elaborate a bit the story itself. That's all. But I apologize if that came off a bit dickish, which wasn't my intent
>>143371655
Okay, pacing and slice of life. I would want a She-Hulk book to embrace the weird instead of milling around
>>
>>143371678
Every issue is the same.
She sits around stuffs her face with food while bitching about her non-problems.
Every issue.
>>
This starts off like an editor trying to set people up to tell them off for not like thing the comic here: >>143371466

Then this continues the trend of “not good enough so unless you can elaborate you’re wrong and it’s great” here: >>143371518

And then continues with such a tone here: >>143371597 ignoring most of what anon said because it would be inconvenient to actually engage with valid criticism of the pacing, focus and sheer lack of enjoyment.

Could be rainbow herself, could be someone with the literary agency but could honestly be an editor.

It’s just too invested in shooting down any reply about a book they supposedly haven’t read and have no investment in. It’s remarkably transparent.
>>
A comic has never disrespected the readers time more than Rainbow's run.
>>
>>143371699
It’s happened her entire run. There’s a clear concerted effort by some invested party (either personally or financially) to defend the run.

I see the same thing with MacKay frankly, but he sells better than this lady, mostly due to the characters he writers, so he kept getting better gigs.
>>
>>143371696
Alright, that does sound like it sucks. Glad I passed on it then. Why the hell aren't they taking advantage of all the odd shit shelved? Like, why not do something with something everyone forgot about like Brute Force, and have them sue for animal testing? I don't know. Which speaking of, didn't they appear in Deadpool? Strange he doesn't have a book out either right now. Unless I missed it.
>>143371699
Take off the tinfoil hat, schizo. I already retracted my earlier statement because I thought the anon was too focused on the art, but I was wrong
>>
>>143371678
>I would want a She-Hulk book to embrace the weird
This sounds like such a marketing buzz phrase Rowell herself would use.

>>143371744
>and have them sue for animal testing
Court shit needs to never be touched upon at all going forward. The best part of Byrne’s run was that it barely ever got mentioned because it’s boring as fuck.

Let daredevil do the court schtick.
>>
>>143371744
>Take off the tinfoil hat, schizo. I already retracted my earlier statement because I thought the anon was too focused on the art
How is that not just as valid as anything else though? These are comics. The art is every bit as important as the writing.

I agree that she still looks too bulky. Just because she isn’t massive and greyish like in Tamaki’s run qnd Aaron’s avengers doesn’t make it acceptable. Plus the shade of green has been off the entire Rowell run. Jen is supposed to be more yellow tinted than forest/Kelly green like her cousin.

I'm still embarrassed to my core that comics are historical/legal documents.
It's the most Reddit idea ever.
>>
>>143371788
I'm not saying it isn't though, it just that in that post it felt like the main focus he was on rather than telling me what was actually going on wrong in the book.

Strange has had a comic by MacKay for a year and a half retard. It’s been pretty lackluster.

You know this because you’re a shill.
>le tinfoil
You faggots never admit what you’re doing do you think that offends anyone?

If you actually posted here you’d at least have said “meds” or something
>>
>>143371815
So you agree she’s the wrong shade…
>>
So all comic writers are just industry plants now?
Well that's just Prime...
>>
>>143371803
Which you’d have to be retarded, or more likely being disingenuous, to think. Because most of the post was about the content.

>>143371802
The art during the Slott run was fucking hideous, but somehow the writing is still worse.
>>
>>143371834
Yeah, She should be Mtn. Dew coloured.
>>
>>143371815
if you’re that anon then how would you know that? You haven’t read it remember?
>>
>>143371847
They're just waiting for you to say something chud-like.
That's all they can see.
>>
>>143371858
>Waiting for "Gotcha!"
You people are exhausting.
>>
>>143371868
Well yeah, that’s been the shill tactic this entire run. Attack any anon who says the target demographic is the problem despite that being exactly the main problem.

The art and story are not for straight men 15-50+ they’re for 35 year old single women. Because characters like Carol Danvers, she-hulk and power girl at DC aren’t allowed to appeal to men.

If that’s the case this should all have been kept to paper back book market releases and just skip the floppy format.
>>
>>143371884
>shit, you’re right
Thank you for admitting it
>>
>>143370087
The FF issue where she chases down the paparazzi is my favorite.

>>143370488
If only, anon, if only.
>>
>>143371821
>Strange has had a comic by MacKay for a year and a half retard. It’s been pretty lackluster.
I was referring to Deadpool, not Doctor Strange, as the sentence was following that previous thought concerning Wade.

Why do you keep calling me a shill anyway? I haven't defended the current She-Hulk run at all. Hell, I haven't even read it.
>>143371847
I'll accept retarded because I already conceded because upon first reading his post that's what I first took away from it. I'm glad the anon elaborated, and I agree with him
>>
>>143371466
That it went past 6 issues rather than being cancelled so a creative team that actually wants to write a she-hulk ongoing could take the job?
>>
>>143371847
You can make a drinking game out of his run.
Everytime she says "Ohmigosh" or talks down to someone take a shot.
>>
>>143371952
Sometimes Dead is Betta!
>>
>>143371950
Deadpool also has a comic, by Kelly Thompson which was dreadful and now by that fat faggot who was one of the writers that helped ruin the she-hulk television show.

>I haven't defended the current She-Hulk run at all. Hell, I haven't even read it.
You’ve done that over and over acting like multiple anons complaints aren’t good enough… why do you need to understand complaints about a thing you haven’t read?
>>
>>143371979
>Deadpool also has a comic, by Kelly Thompson
I never see it story timed here so it completely flew under my radar. Unless I'm that out of the loop. It's harder for me to keep track of a lot of Marvel stuff these days because half the stuff I see is dumbass Carnage shit or Krakoa X-Men I don't care about, so I sort of gloss over those threads.
>like multiple anons complaints aren’t good enough
When did that happen? I actually agreed with the anon who hates the run after I understood what he was talking about.
>why do you need to understand complaints about a thing you haven’t read?
Because I wanted to know if it was just mediocre or complete dogshit, curious if it was worth a glance. Guess not.
>>
Do people still think Deadpool and Harley Quinn started the 'fourth wall breaking' shit?
>>
>>143372040
It was She-Hulk's thing before Deadpool, but the concept itself is older than that of course. Even Looney Tunes did that

>how does the Disney+ MCU version compare?
OP here. The D + show had a few decent scenes but the character herself is basically unrecognizable. It's like the took the worst of Slott and combined it with the angst of post wall millennial women like that chick from the "this is why I fucking hate video games/male fantasy" meme.

I'm glad I pirated it because I realized they had no real respect for the source material when they got to the scenes of her browsing Tinder. Fappable character model aside, they need to fix MCU She-Hulk or never show her again. If you've ever seen the actress in Orphan Black you know she's capable of nailing the role with proper writing.
