This is gonna get higher ratings than modern CN, isn't it?
>>
Duh. Cable was a fad in the end. It gave us some kickass shows, but it only works in a monoculture and also if you don't execute it for the streaming fad.
>>
>>143522106
whoa, MeTV is expanding? good for them
>>143522123
>things don't work if they get executed
you don't say
>>
>>143522106
Almost all the people I see watching MeTV are in retirement communities, skilled nursing facilities, and eco-villages. Nonetheless they go up to the 90s so I can't wait to see Pepper Ann and As Told By Ginger get more love.

>>
The last airing of the saturday morning block (and this is at shitty hours too) got 500k views. Sometimes it gets over a million. They did a stealth test run with airing Looney Tunes for a day on a spinoff comedy channel last month and it was their biggest program viewership in that channel's history
Yes this shit is going to get views
>>
>>143522335
It's a network. You'll need a satellite dish (or cable, I guess)
>>
>>143522123
>>143522335
What uses cable[TV] anymore?
>>
>>143522413
Cable keeps raising prices because people still use it for some reason. They're so buck broken now, they're trying to screw over antenna users with nextgentv. Keyword is trying.
>>
>>143522316
They get way more money from parents leaving their babies 24/7 to be babysit with TV or YouTube.
>>
>>143522429
its to gouge people who havent figured out that you can watch live sports or news without cable. literally every tv schedule i’ve seen in recent years is just channels doing reruns or movies until their one live show airs. what a damn shame. i dont even know how they expect people to watch if they arent going to have original programming.
>>
>>143522508
It truly is like the phoenix, it reborns.

So see ya when MeTV Toons starts their cartoon program called uh... My oh My That Cartoon!
>>
>>143522532
People pretty much mostly use antenna tv because of the local channels and sports. Hell, an android tv box hooked up to an antenna tuner with pluto/tubi is something alot of boomers use for good reason.
>>
>>143522562
Most people liked the first Cartoon Cartoons, so I don't see why MeTV couldn't replicate it.
>>
>>143522547
When you see two smart cats paired with the new secret squirrel you know time is up
>>
>>143522481
No they dont, all their audience left once they changed towards infantilized shit content and now barely anyone watches CN
>>143522562
>doesnt want newer improved toons
You are the problem with the animation industry. People either want to regress (the fags who want everything to be toddler slop) or stagnate (people who only want reruns of old shows exclusively)
>>
>>143522106
>MeToo TV NS
What does ns stand for again? Nonconsensual sex?
>>
>>143522106
I’m surprised they didn’t just do this with Cartoon Network over again, a hard reboot of that network with separate adult swim and Toonami channels would be amazing.
>>
>>143522611
Disney had a similar problem, so much so they had to obligate artist to not pitch to Disney Jr. (pre-school Disney channel).
>>
>>143522668
Oh in Latin America we have it like that.
>Regular Cartoon Network channel with the usual.
>Tooncast channel with old cartoons.
>Adult Swim channel with adult content (plus Toonami).

We have something for everyone.
>>
>>143522611
can you blame that anon though? would you trust a network in todays age to make something actually good?
>>
I hope they have cool bumpers like Boomerang used to do before that shitty reboot in 2014
>>
>>143522661
>just wants the same old shit
I dont mind reruns of old cartoons but if thats all you want then you are nit just wrong but stupid as well. The reason why CN sucks isnt because it airs new cartoons its because all the shows within the past 6 years or so have been nothing but toddler slop.
>>143522672

>>
>>143522700
But isn't Space Ghost from Coast 2 Coast a decent way to revive a franchise no one cared about? I mean, Space Ghost had way popularity as C2C. But anyway, they said MeTV Toons wouldn't have original programming at all, will see how much that endures.
>>
>>143522643
One advantage cable had over antenna were the sitcoms. Aside from laff and 11.2(?) You had to wait like 9pm on sunday's for king of queens. Pluto's sitcom selection is that good for everyone. The second they get chuck loore slop and raymond, cable will be beyond fucked.

>>
>>143522755
Or just do original bumpers like CN used to do with the characters you have in your shows. That's new content and actually something people would like.

They said never but apparently they only consider new cartoons as original programming, bridges such as segments (think of the live action Cartoon Cartoons Fridays they used to do) are not entirely out of the question.
>>
>>143524384
CN was also conceived of as a place to dump reruns, with new content to air on TBS or TNT. It didnt last long
>>
if this channel is going to be like 75% pulling from the asscrack of WBD, and it turns around and makes an assload of money, wouldnt WBD be foolish to not retool their own boomerang network or make people know about their boomerang app they never advertise thats completely different from their boomerang channel

>>
>>143522106

>>
>>143524700
The idea was that the reruns were made to be filler until they could make new content.
>>
>>143522106
By default, of course it is.
Modern CN is a cardboard box of marketable IPs on a dying medium that have otherwise been left to rot outside of occasional fanservice.
It's not hard to get higher ratings than it.
>>
>>143524492
>Or just air Tooncast in the US. It does have a SAP option for English after all.
Tooncast only has a single feed for all of LatAm, which means that due to some stupid Brazilian laws they have to air those awful Brazilian cartoons that make even the worst Canadian slop look like Fantasia, if anything MeTV Toons would be better just by not having anything made in Brazil
>>
>>143524815
The latam Adult Swim channel has 3 different feeds, yet they can't be bothered to do so with Tooncast in order to avoid the "spam Brazilian slop for an hour" law
>>
>>143524815
Hey, don't you dare shit talk Brazilian animation
>>
>>143524815
But the point was that WB might just want to make their channels focus on legacy content, thusly making Tooncast relevant again for the US. If MeTV Toons has more success than their regular channels.
>>
>>143524815
why dont all the latam countries pass such a law
>>
>>143522508
>Warner is leaving the animation business

Again?
>>
>>143524525
I doubt it; the reason they got dropped in the first place was because they felt there was more money from the other stuff they now air
>>
>>143524851
Brazilians have kinky porn.
>>
>>143525464
But they could up their game with cartoons.
>>
>>143524611
I can't tell which lasted longer in that regard, Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon.
>>
>>143524851
Those are all shit tho, how the fuck do they get away with making direct to video movies that only last 22 mins?
>>
>>143524942
Brazil has that law for the same reason Canada has laws requiring that a certain portion of all broadcast television and radio be of Canadian origin. It's so Canada continues to have a culture distinct from the US. And likewise, the law in Brazil is to ensure that Brazil continues to have a culture distinct from all the Spanish speaking countries which surround it, and it also helps prevent the Portuguese language from falling out of favor, which is also important to them. Brazil is basically the Canada of Latin America, which of course suggests that the division of the Spanish speaking part of America is an anomaly rather than the default state. Or alternatively, the fact that the US remains united is the fluke. I put my money on the former rather than the latter, as they did try to form a unified South American state.

>>143524942
>>143527538
Canada took the law to a whole new degree by not allowing any non Canadian VA to work on their cartoons, that's why you got stuff like the Netflix Sonic which only has Canadian VAs and none of the games' voices
>>
>>143527554
Those kind of laws are retarded since they mean those countries must produce a bunch of cartoons fast and on the cheap in order to fill airtime, so you end with crap that looks worse than most Hanna Barbera output and is unfunny o top of it, there's a reason why Canadian cartoons are so hated, they had to spam them during the Teletoon days and half were mediocre or shit, Brazilian cartoons are even worse
>>
>>143527571
It kind of worked for music, at least. Canadians were regular fixtures across all of the mainstream Genres for most of the 90's and 2000's and some of them are still relevant, which is what the laws were designed to do. But it's a lot harder to make a cartoon worth watching than it is music worth listening to. There are just a million more additional moving parts. And even objectively speaking, the cartoons I've seen that have managed to make it out to the American market have been at the very least, not boring, retarded or incomprehensible. Nicktoons Network was full of them back in the late 2000's and I remember some of them being like weird fever dreams, but they were never complete garbage, but that might just be down to them getting really good deals on the stuff that happened to fall right in the middle.

Boomer Cartoons or not a good show is a good show.
>>
>>143547809
That’s when it stopped on Kids WB, so that makes sense, kind of? If they’re going for nostalgia. Unless you mean it stopped at the start and not at the start of DP.
>>
>>143547919
If I remember, TPC took over about halfway through the Battle Frontier arc and the Mirage Pokemon special was made to introduce the new dub voices. Ash's new VA was so bad that they had to recast him before resuming the series prpoer.
>>
>>143547919
I thought the cast mid Battle Frontier?
>>
>>143547220
Boomers watch cartoons too. You have like 10 zoomer cartoon channels already, not everything has to be for you.
>>
>>143545891
Lol people aren't going back to cable, where did you get that information? They're still losing 5000 customers a day as they have been fired years.
>>
>>143549721
Yet there's always those who refuse to cut cable because that's the only thing they know.
>>
>>143549878
Yeah they're called elderly people. They tend to die. Just like cable.
>>
>>143522106
Elaborate, OP senpai?
>>
>>143538110
>No. You're getting anime the way the boomers remember it: treated as a wholly American creation because they couldn't tell the difference back then.
It'd be cool if they made a Toonami type block since CN was kinda like this for a while. But you're right, MeTV probably wouldn't dare do that

Not OP but MeTV is basically making CN/Boomerang 2, on antenna tv instead of cable
Here's the lineup so far and they said they're adding more down the line
>>
>>143551538
>Baby Looney Tunes
WB no doubt forced them to include it just like they forced CN, I'll bet.

That seems really out of place in comparison to all those older shows.
>>
>>143540736
normies dont watch comet in the first place
but if theyre gonna pack it full of 70s-90s scifi tv then they might as well throw in 70s-90s scifi anime
>>
>>143552629
that and baby looney tunes must have been the ''condition shows'', get these, or no deal.
>>
>>143551538
What's the difference between antenna tv and Verizon? Maybe they'll introduce HB on Toon in With Me when they get bored of Looney Tunes or MGM
>>
>>143522729
maybe i'm projecting but it seems like it's a lot easier to write for preschool shows because so much of it has to teach the same basic lessons to children. it gives writers excuses to use cliches and tired old tropes because hey, some of these kids were born yesterday.
>>
>>143552629
>That seems really out of place in comparison to all those older shows.
I mean it is 20 years old now...
>>
>>143553756
20 years old is still pretty far off from shows that are 65-40 years old already. You wouldn't lump a show from 1960 in with one from 2000.
>>
>>143522413
My mom. She prefers Cable and still uses DVR despite streaming services usually having the episodes up a day later

Yes, Metv is pretty popular already, and they made a lot of money from airing cartoons in the past couple of years. Beforehand their big money maker was airing horror films. But it makes perfect sense for them to do this, since cable with free channels making money from ads makes a lot of money
There are some channels that exist to rebroadcast traditional game playthroughs edited for live television along with memes.
>>
I have direct tv since I am in the middle of nowhere. I got Metv through them. Anyone know if this will be available like that?

NoooooNOOOOOOOO!
>>
>>143522411
With my dogshit luck it won't be available through directv, at least we'll still have a dozen channels of 24/7 shit i'd burn people alive to stop.

Where is Pup on there? I loved it.
>>
>>143556127
Might not be on there. Probably saw Scrappy and thought it was young Scooby. The trauma of Baby Looney Toons sent me over the edge. I just was never a fan lf Scooby Doo stuff in general. Even the original show from like the 70s just bored me to tears. These shows played all the time when I was a kid and I couldn't fucking stand it. Any time they did I just went outside to play. Bother the neighborhood kids or something. Anything was better then watching it. Fuck around in the backyard and play pretend if I had to.

I want them to air Star Blazers, the Americanized version of Space Battleship Yamato.

Not to mention that said laws kind of fuck up some channels' selling points, for example you can avoid any problem with MeTV Toons if it aired on Canada since the only thing you shall do would be spamming Heathcliff for an hour (this being a Canadian co-production), in Brazil you can't do that so a channel like Tooncast whose main selling point is "classic cartoons from the 40s to the 90s" has to end up samming a flash animated Brazilian show from the 2010s and there's no way to avoid that unless they have multiple feeds like Comedy Central Latam and Adult Swim Latam do, a worse example would be a channel like the defunct Animax Latam or the current Chilean channel SenpaiTV whose main selling point is airing nothing but anime all day every single day, I keep seeing people asking for the later to expand to all Latam but if they did that the Brazilian laws would force them to air one entire hour of Brazilian cartoons and that would kind of defeat the entire fucking purpose of the channel, won't it?
>>
Reminds me of john k network of fun
>>
>>143556386
Animax Latam was a fucking joke because it was mostly just an excuse to dump express dubs of the ADV films licenses that sony got, and maaaaaaaaaybe some Locomotion animes, but thats about it, the lack of the Cloverway licenses dubbed in Mexico and even the dubbed in LA TMS shows really sealed the fate of that fuck of a channel, shit, even MagicKids kept Konichan for awhile even when they got rid of all the anime, and that shows dub (specially in its uncut form) its lost media now, because No one actually preserved good copies of the original masters, and both Magic Kids and Chilevision did their own censorship edits, with the former being the worst tough Chilevision ommited at least one episode segment, hell, for the longerst time, 2 episodes on Magic Kids were so rare to find, the Meteorite and Hot springs ones.

I recently got an antenna, but I only get an extremely weak standard definition MeTV signal. I don't get CBS or ABC at all since they're too far away. I get a good HD signal for NBC, FOX, and CW though. The main reason I bought it is to watch Smackdown on Fox, and NXT on CW when it goes there later this year. That way I can switch from Hulu+ Live TV to Sling TV and save $25 a month and get all my wrestling.

Anyway I'd watch this station if I could get it with my antenna but I kind of doubt it.
>>
>>143556386
No, not really. Having one hour of brazilian cartoons every day wouldn't mess the rest of the schedule. You are just whining about shit Canada has done for way longer.
>>
>>143522106
It's going to be nothing but Scooby Doo and Tom And Jerry in less than a year, like Boomerang's fate.
>>
>>143538177
Yes that's what anon's saying.
Streaming(MeTV) outperforms Cable(CartoonNetwork)
duh
