She's a self-righteous teen who is the victim of discrimination on two fronts and does say some stupid shit as a result. It's not the sort of thing a perfect enlightened person would say, but it's absolutely the sort of stuff I believe well-meaning but kind of dumb 13-15 year old Kitty Pryde would say.
