Agreed.Genuinely, what was wrong with just using normal Mario? It's not like they made a bunch of major changes to make him more expressive or easier to animate. Besides slight proportional changes that would've been achievable with normal Mario.As it stands it's just unnecessary detail for the sake of having unnecessary detail. A very "Hollywood" thing to do. We can't just have normal Mario or normal Sonic or normal Pikachu. They HAVE to look "more real" even if the changes are just adding loads of flashy shit like fur and individual eyelashes that muddy up the designs and make them look worse. Hollywood will never understand that sometimes simpler is better, because normie audiences have somehow developed an expectation that a "movie version" of a character can't just look like the fucking character.
