the mj/peter romance is one of the biggest grifts in comics history and the recent ultimate spider-man shows that so clearly due to how awful it is (and how much of a non-factor the parker family even is) yet still sells enough to compete with the absolute line which is light years ahead of any of the ultimate comics in terms of quality in both writing and art.
