Following the page you posted, for example, Lucy sexually assaults Augustus for validation and then cries after he fends her off. Augustus' response is to comfort her, treating Lucy's crashout as sympathetic rather than insane.

That's what "frequent" or "all the time" means. Otherwise the claim should be scaled back to "*sometimes* characters realize that Lucy is insane and wrong." Or even further back, to "on rare occasions." That seems more defensible to me.

As to these examples, from left to right:
Panel 1: Very clearly talking about the awkward social situation, not Lucy being nuts or in the wrong.
Panel 2: Talking about Mike and past abuse which has been acknowledged in the comic, not Lucy's current neurosis.
Panel 3: Closer, in that Augustus actually acknowledges that something is wrong with Lucy. But his subsequent actions show he very clearly believes those problems are caused by other people and are not Lucy's own fault.

I don't see how it matters that characters acknowledge that Lucy's got issues when it always bends back to the same conclusion: they realize they need to be MORE accepting, caring, and understanding to Lucy because she's suffered so much. Happened to Daisy, happened to Augustus, happened to Paulo multiple times, it even happened to literally whos like Madison and Zachary. The only time that didn't happen and someone just went "your issues aren't my problem, and I'm sick of dealing with your shit." and stuck to it for more than five minutes was Mike and he's still getting raked over the coals for rejecting Lucy over a decade later.
It's a BPD thing, they always write stories like this.

Honestly, I'm a big fan of that comic as its drawn right now. Lucy getting over herself and trying to reach out to Mike, and him just being too dead inside to even offer up a token resistance or acknowledge her.
