Well?
>>
they don't read nor talk to people
>>
>>153147895
Are you going to summarize what the video says for us or are you hoping for people to sit through 11 minutes of what looks like ad farming clickbait garbage?
>>
>>153147895
>Hey guys I'm in irrelevant YouTuber, who complains about things and never makes anything but complains I also shove weasel up my butthole. I'm now going to complain about this popular things reviews please watch my video so I can pay for my Hot pockets. I am also going to be contrarian and disagree and then in a couple weeks it be found out that I was speaking to a minor, after that I will claim that I actually was depressed and have mental problems and autistic. I will then claim I will quit and come back in 3 months after discovering no one will hire me to work anywhere. I have a group of loyal fanatics, from my private discord server who tell me I'm pretty and awesome. Now I will launch into politics I will only talk about things that are current and go by the trend. Boo hoo hoo I have been banned again I didn't mean to do those things or say those things it's because of my mental illness.

Dialogue in fiction is unrealistic. Go read Dune or watch the 1984 film - it's delibrate.
Caring about whether it's cringe or not is fucking stupid.
No I'm not watching your video, also buy an ad.
>>
>>153147895
The Roundtable? Uh, he has a certain rep...
>>
>>153147895
Idk you tell me
>>
Modern cartoons are basically exclusively made for theater kids, and theater kids have always been what zoomers and younger millennials call "cringe."
It's just that back in the day we just called them embarrassing, or faggots.

All I've learned from recent discourse on writing is that people absolutely loathe hearing fictional characters talk like normal people.
>>
>>153148839
Not everyone talks like your discord clique
>>
>>153147895
Is it indie dialogue “like that” or the cartoons they’re imitating?
>>
>>153147895
>in indie animation
What the fuck does that mean? What a retarded generalization. HH is not indie and Glitch is just the most succesfull indie production company but not the only one.
Hazbin Hotel is cringe partly on purpose, the whole appeal of the show is to be like an endearing cringe Tumblr wish fullfillment aesthetically, narratively. TADC suffers from Goose trauma dumping too excessively and bluntly.
>>
>>153148871
Is it really an indie problem or just a problem with modern writing in general?
>>
>>153147895
Because writing is a skill that needs lots and lots of practice. Indie creators are usually artists first and foremost. Even the best artists can have shitty writing, look at Richard Williams.
I guarantee you that if anyone here or on twitter got up and made a pilot, the writing would suck too.
>Inb4: you don't have to be muh chef
It's a damn good filter, just like post body on /fit/
>>
>>153147895
Most movies have dogshit dialogue. I tried to read the script to A New Hope and it makes me wonder if George actually talks to people
>>
>>153148855
My point is that I know how my coworkers talk, people I overhear when I'm out in public, watching interviews, even reading fucking 4chan posts, there's a casual, natural form of speaking that people seem to absolutely loathe in fiction.

These days people seem to want fictional characters to be professional public speakers capable of giving an eloquent scripted speech of a reply at the drop of a hat, and not speak like a normal human being.

It's simply the current popular trend.
>>
>>153147895
Gaslight Distinct and TADC are actually good though
>>
>>153147895
The only bad parts of Digital Circus' dialogue are the sit down and talk therapy scenes.
Helluva Boss seems to be written like an endurance test on cringe so I'm not sure if you can really judge it by normal standards
>>
>>153148935
no no you're supposed to be upset at all times anon
>>
>>153148935
Not really
>>153148961
Can't you at least admit you're bias without sounding like a fag?
>>
Seventeen replies and no one has explained what the video is criticizing. No, I'm not going to watch it just to find out. That's the OP's job.
>>
>>153147895
Why do people suddenly care about the dialogue quality of web cartoons?
>>
>>153148979
>Seventeen replies and no one has explained what the video is criticizing.
We're making an educated guess based off the video title. These days everyone is hyper-sensitive to "cringe", so anyone that doesn't talk like a quick-witted and well-spoken extrovert ends up sounding "cringe".

>No, I'm not going to watch it just to find out.
Me neither.

>>153149001
Overdeveloped cringe-gland.
>>
>>153149001
Because people keep jerking off shows like TADC like they're on the same level as Shakespeare.
>>
>>153149001
Because the actual industry is dead and people are deluded into thinking that the indie scene can replace it and thousands of union jobs while relying on poorly designed plushies, Kickstarters and dwindling YouTube AdSense
>>
>>153149038
So, Rick and Morty syndrome?
>>
>>153149050
We're already heading into the contrarian phase calling these shows "indieslop". There's multiple videos about it.
My question is how long can the indie boom last and what will happen when it deflates
>>
>>153149074
>There's multiple videos about it
I've only seen one. What other videos are you talking about?
>>
>>153148896
Now you’re talking.

Because professional critics and shills will dogpile people for pointing out that the mainstream slop is bad.

Internet animation should have never left the hobbyist lane and I will die on that hill
Hazbin Hotel has done so much damage
>>

Anything produced by Glitch might as well be mainstream for indie cartoons.

There is a craft to natural dialogue writing like anything else.
>>
>>153147895
You aren't going to get top tier writing from fucking indie cartoons. You shouldn't be expecting great animation either but they're willing to break the bank on that front.
The industry and indie should be separate. The industry is what needs far more scrutiny and needs to be gutted and rebuilt. Expecting YouTube animations to replace it is asinine. I give it five years before this all comes crashing down.
>>
>>153149196
>The industry is what needs far more scrutiny and needs to be gutted and rebuilt.
Really, everything needs to be gutted.

Yes. But the overwhelming majority of people don't actually know what separates good dialog from bad dialog and are incapable of actually articulating what it is they do or don't like. Even this thread mostly just boils-down to an I-know-it-when-I-see-it cringe reflex instead of speaking in actual concrete terms.
>>
>>153149275
Ok, if you're gonna talk like you know better, than please, tell us what makes good and bad dialogue.
>>
>>153149127
TADC does not have natural sounding dialogue at all
>>
>>153149315
Well darn. I was expecting a show about a jester, ragdoll and talking rabbit to be realistic.

I'm not saying I know better. I don't know what makes good and bad dialogue. I just know that saying "x's writing is cringe" doesn't actually explain anything, but I do think it has less to do with the actual writing that bothers people and has more to do with the delivery of the lines, and people are confusing that with the writing.
>>
>>153149275
Also true.

The question isn't regarding The Amazing Digital Circus's overall quality; just the voice-acting and dialogue, which definitely falls into a lot of the same trappings many modern indie cartoons do.
>>
>>153149138
I meant that they would get dogpiled for pointing out that mainstream garbage has shit dialogue.
