Most melee weapons break if you hit them in a way they're not designed to be hit. Even the human body can break if it lands an attack in the wrong way. Look at Anderson Silva's leg break. He launched that attack, and he launched hundreds if not thousands of those attacks, and his own body failed when the attack didn't land just right. It's fairly obvious most things are not as durable as the damage they can inflict.
