HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
How long has everyone been here?
>>155681373Too long.
>>155681373Not long enough
>>155681373For about 20 years, or maybe even 35. It's a big number, something like 40 years probably
>>1556813732010
>>155681373Since 2012.
>>155681373Late 2017, started with /a/. I'm a wee babe compared to most of you guys.
>>1556813732005Kill me.
>>1556813732006
>>155681495same
>>1556813732012, first board was /mlp/. Eventually began using other boards like /co/ and /an/. I don't use /mlp/ much these days, but I always tune in for the 10 day anniversary stream.
>>1556813732017. I remember browsing /co/ from the back of my mom's car.
>>155681697What's that stream about? I don't browse /mlp/ so is it like the whole series across 10 days? And is just FiM or the whole entire franchise?
>>155681706They host it on Cytube. It starts with the pre show where they watch the LoTR trilogy, then The Last Unicorn. Then the actual anniversary stream starts on either October 9th or 10th. They show all 9 seasons of the show, all of the specials/movies, all of the EqG spinoff stuff, and tons of fan content in between. I think it technically ends after the last G4 special (Rainbow Roadtrip). After that they show this bizarre spinoff called Pony Life, which is like a mix of Teen Titans Go, and MLP. Then they typically play the G5 movie, which was fine, then the G5 show and content, which largely sucks. I think once they start showing G5 stuff, people are free to request reruns of episodes they missed or want to watch again. So technically, the anniversary runs for about 10 days or so, but in practice it's like 2 weeks. But the real value the anniversary brings, is that it's the only time of the year where /mlp/ actually feels like it used to in 2012 and 2013. There's a big sticky that lasts for the entire anniversary, and it's active because everyone posts in it, etc. There used to be a time where when the show was only 4 or 5 seasons long, you could potentially stay awake for the entire anniversary, but obviously now that's physically impossible.
>>155681373Mid 2018.
>>1556813732019 or 2020. Complete newfag, I know, but this place kinda feels like home
For a sec I thought it was only turning 13, and was still thinking "wow, is 4chan really that old".Then I remembered how old it actually is
>>155681373Somewhere in 2012-2013. I remember my first post being something about the upcoming Wander Over Yonder.
>>155681819Lord of the Rings and Last Unicorn? How are those tied to MLP? Were the Hasbro creators influenced by LoTR in the same way everyone was in regards to fantasy while Last Unicorn has some specific story behind influencing some Hasbro person or creator who brought the idea to Hasbro? Like this Zacherle person I just looked up?
>>155681360
>>1556813732005. I actually found out about this place via YOU'RE THE MAN NOW DOG
>>155681373I can't recall anymore. Sometime around 2018 or 2017 I think. It was around when Spencer's ASM run was happening. Yeah...the less said about that time, the better. Fucking Lowe....still stings from how it went down.
>>15568137320 years
>>155681373Since the 90s. I miss all the Urkel threads.
>>155681373You think you’re newfags? Get on my level. I only got here around last September. …but I’ve been using the rest of 4chan since around 2018.
>>155681373Almost 10 years
>>155681373Been here since the pool closures in '06. It's been quite a ride.
>Another year passes by. At least that new Ted show will bring some life back into this board for a bit.
>>155682124What is Ted?
>>155681373Been here since late 2020 or early 2021, I can't exactly remember for sure
>>1556813732015/b/, then /his/, then /r9k/ and /pol/, then /int/ and /his/ again, then /tg/ and /x/, now here and /x/
>>1556813732005, maybe late 2004. I used to be a goon on SA.
>>15568137314 years
>>155681373In the late 2000s as a young teen I found my way onto UrbanDictionary and KnowYourMeme which eventually brought me here in 2010 because I had to know where all the EPIC MEMEZ originated from. Hung out in /b/ for a while, then /v/, jumped around a couple other boards randomly and eventually made /co/ the home base. To keep it board related, some of the oldest images in my 4chan folder is MvC3 fanart picked up from threads leading up to the game's release. Actually, now that I look at it, was this drawn by SIR?? Not sure. Well anyways, Happy Birthday 4chan.
>>1556813732008. I came here from the Penny Arcade message boards.I love this place! It's fun, I'll never leave. Long may 4chan live and prosper.
>>1556813732015. I do wish sometimes I had born earlier so I could have experienced old 4chan.
>>1556813732016 or so and I don't remember how I landed here. What I do know is, that my first board was /b/ and if memory serves correctly it was for porn. I was 15 at the time so it was a goldmine back then.
>>155682124>Another McFarland regurgitation show being premieredI thought you said that there would be some life brought back...
>>15568137306-07, I was looking for Tier Harribel porn, stumbled onto /d/, got back into comics at some point, started a couple memes, instigated some flavors of the month, made few epic threads, got into a few screencaps, storytimed on occasion, made comic recommendation charts, seen many a tripfag come and go
>>155681373I think the very first time I stumbled on here was in 2008 as an underaged lad looking for porn. I remember /hc/ being just a spamfest of dodgy links to supposed adult videos with the post image being a collection of thumbnails supposedly generated of the aforementioned video file. I think I mostly just looked around for cumshot pics. Didn't really use 4chan for anything else and not sure if I even understood what it (or an imageboard in general) was.Started lurking a domestic imageboard in 2009 (rip kuvalauta), and I think it was in 2011 or 2012 that I really started lurking on 4chan, majority of it in /co/, /f/ and /mu/, and the occasional dabble in some /sp/ gamethreads as well. Plus porn, of course. I think it was Wakfu that got me in /co/ (though ironically I think the subbing work lives/lived over on plus4chan), but alongside that there's been lots of different shows I've been following with fellow anons like Gravity Falls, certain colorful equines and the likes. /co/tards are a bunch of degenerate gooners just like me fr, so found my place here. /co/ is love, after all. It's been quite a ride. I don't care much for the alt-right tilt that 4chan (and the world in general) has been experiencing for quite a while now, so a lot of the culture war etc. bullshit has gotten pretty tiring to browse through (same goes for all the schizospam), but when things are on topic (plot discussions or "plot" discussions), there's still that little light in there that reminds me of why I got here in the first place. Here's some oldie from the depths of my folders.
>>155681853For me it was through the IMDb forums.
>>155684240>IMDb forums.Oh man! I used to love lurking those at my old job, you would find so much deranged people. All the people who "obsess" over specific actresses on /tv/ got nothing on some of the obsessive psycho boomers on there. RIP.
>>155681849Those are just for the pre show, they're not part of the official anniversary stream. It's just something the mods their like to do. MLP does have a handful of LoTR references, and I think The Last Unicorn is watched simply because of the title. Faust may have been inspired by it as well. Also they're just both good movies to watch.
>>155681373Late 2011.
>>1556813732015
>>1556813732008 I think. I lost my drive from then, so my earliest photos are from 2012.
