To all the people aspiring to post their own webcomic or become artists in general, what's stopping you from developing this idea?
Mental health. Im mentally ill rn with a horrible anxiety disorder caused from believing I was hypnotised from hypnosis porn but I did it wrong so instead of getting off I gave myself anxiety attacks. So now I have an anxiety disorder with horrible physical symptoms for the past 6 years since covid and have horrible anxiety and fatigue every day. I've been going to therapy for a couple of years now. Ive made improvements but the tightness in my head from the anxiety still wrecks me a bit.
>>155711666Herniated disc. I haven't been able to raise my arm since new year's.
>>155711861...Why don't you just hypnotise yourself again to cure it?
>>155711943Turns out I was never actually hypnotised, I was just pretty neurotic, and believed my intrusive thoughts that said hypnosis was manifesting until I became a nervous wreck and caused a self fulfilling prophecy. Mainly I just have a fear that my thoughts can manifest things that I am slowly overcoming through exposure therapy.

Time and money, unfortunately. I just don’t have enough of either to be able to focus on the comic I want to make, but I’ve been working on it here and there.
>>155711666>>155712038>laziness This, and fear of putting in a lot of time and effort only to be ignored, like I've seen so many others online with no viewers.
>>155711666That no matter what I upload online some jeet is just going to scape/copy it with their AI of choice and re-upload their version elsewhere to significantly greater success than I will ever see.
where to even post these days?
>>155711666Why were 90s men so afraid of librarian types? Hair and glasses are sexy af
>>155712337Who said librarians were young and sexy?
>>155711666Despite all the pleasantries exchanged over how much people value independent art, independent art is not often rewarded. I do not have the emotional fortitude to invest years of my time into something only for it to generate next to no interest. I've been through as much fairly recently and it totalled all interest I had in building up an online following.
>>155711666As a hobbyist who hangs around with professional artists and other creative circles I said fuck that shit. Like nine out ten long running webcomic artists go insane eventually or resort to making porn of their characters on patreon. Other artists are often mentally ill to begin with and focusing on their work just worsens their condition. Then there’s the physical health issues. The sedentary work lifestyle just fucks you after awhile. Then there’s the politics among your peers and the backstabbing and gaslighting. I’d rather work a real normie job any day.
>>155711666Thanks for asking, satan but you see I got classes and work and comms so I just don't have the time or energy to write and draw a thing of such scale even if I have ideas
>>155711666I'm currently on Garden Leave until at least February, so I'm using this time to get my scripts in working order. Right now the big project is a 24 page primer into my proposed comic universe. And I'm taking a page from one of Mark Millar's Superman Adventures #41. I'm going to have every page be it's own self-contained story, running the tonal spectrum of horror, action, comedy, drama, and mystery. Assuming I get all the pages scripted, I'm going to petition 24 separate artists for each of the stories. Hopefully I can identify a solid way of letting them choose which story they feel most jazzed about that way I could get their best. For simplicity sake, I'm going to use the same colorist/inker for the entire thing because there is no way in hell could I coordinate with that many people. Lastly, all the scripts will be written according to a 4x4 grid to ensure consistency across pages. I also need to cram as much content as possible into each page to make it worthy of people wanting to fucking read it. It has to be worth their time.Assuming I get the pages penciled, inked, lettered, reviewed by an editor, and topped with a cover artist, I'm going to post that shit to 4chan immediately as a cbr as well as just paste the pages here in a storytime. I want to give back.
>>155711666Time. I work 60-70 hours a week most weeks and it’s been almost a decade since I last had time to regularly work on my art.
>>155711666I have so so ideas, bad writing hands and remarkable low self esteem.
I had a very bad depressive episode that started after I graduated high school in 2014 and lasted to like 2022 that I'm only now digging myself out of.I'm finally working on>muh comic (about hobgoblins)>muh webcomic (about personifications of the 7 deadly sins)>muh animated short (about a grave digger)>muh flash parody animations (thinking of starting with Forgotten Island but by the time it's done nobody would remember that shit)It's slow going but I got me a drawing tablet, a tracing box, a nice scanner and I finally set it all up in a way that makes my crippling adhd impossible to ignore it. I have been very productive these past couple weeks. Pic related it's my blueprints for the grave digger puppet in my delusions she will become the most iconic cartoon character of the decade
