Not really and you're taking it too literally, all of these powers have limitations in set by the story itself and the nature of the class tied to each tier. To quote the main commentary in even BC, "Space is a very straightforward aspect, dealing with the literal size, location and scale of things. This can be interpreted in a lot of ways, both mechanically and narratively but in terms of combat we wanted to think of some of the horrifying things you could do with that... Jade could just make someone explode by growing their Skeleton and nothing else, or she could teleport them into the sun, no-clip them halfway into each other or just compress and condense them into a tiny cube. Anon, they are trying to travel and the place they are is quite literally just a gap with nothing else in it because its through the window. There is nothing to bend or manipulate here to be on the other side. Jade herself explains the limitations of what is beyond her power, the extend of which is mostly just growing and shrinking things on its basic level and the range of aspects between that sort of thing in which physics plays its own role like why growing just someone's skull, skeleton or what have you would kill them on the spot. You can't prove anything because even an adult Jade with none of those powers shows that the limits are still inherently there: She has to fly around to get places and can't teleport things anymore, making something theoretically simple like a shield made of just space is a heavily taxing task upon her despite practicing it and after coming back her main offense was just the aforementioned bone grow. Her non green sun options of movement and travel are inherently limited by the nature of being a witch which only manipulates the aspect.

The stated alternatives are not things she could do, she explains why and you are continuously just saying she's wrong with no actual support that would contradict the narrative from the story or any real sources and are just saying a "creative" idea that just disregards the rules given anyway. Full shrinkage, they are completely and fully shrunk down fully and evenly along with the residents on them. See the problem isn’t that the size was altered it’s that and action like that has to be done with direct care and essentially maintaining how they would naturally work.

For a basic example if you were to make someone a giant every bit must be altered to accommodate and the laws of the universe do dictate that there’s a real limit before it’s unsustainable by the effort require for the body to maintain itself. I’m starting to see more issies with stretching it like the fact that still means it has to travel the distance of close to light but now your making her focus 1 portion for several years instead of flying the whole ship and being able to rest while doing it because the process wouldn’t be instant either way due to the size and length of the distance to travel. It’s still several years in length traveling at the fastest speed possible

We have the con straight of her top speed being about/near light with no form of teleportation and still needing to bring others. We can’t exceed light and all growth methods would still be under the same speed restrictions and distance to travel. Remember BC and the shield, you are asking her to maintain a single point of the object for 13 years straight by herself with no break instead of just flying the whole thing. What you are describing is making a bridge when the goal is get from point A-B with planets, John, and several others. BC kinda shows there’s a level of taxing focus or certain actions and the Epilouges bring it up as well where she was trying to focus her power to attack and charging something up before losing the green sun.

The problems are basic ass thing to consider with this shit idea of pure inefficientce over flying the thing carrying everyone and being able to relax and remain comfortable doing so instead of being upfront alone which literally came to be an issue after john and Dave sprite die mid trip leaving her alone on the ship and she brings it up to Callie on how it messed her up.

I wanted to make this comment before i tell you my thoughts on the next pages. Because i didn't mention them on my actual page write up, because by the time i got to them I got tired. Nanna's exposition dump on sburb and Skaia.

it is actually pretty interesting how this is probably the only use of "traditional" or otherwise story standard exposition in the story. Oh trust me, there is exposition dumped upon exposition, for any number of reasons. But honestly most exposition in this story goes absolutely nowhere, not immediately anyway. This sort of intentionality is a sight for sore eyes for a homestuck fan. I appreciate Hussies willingness to write by the seat of his pants and in all honesty leads to the best homestuck has to offer, but at the same time his slapdash story building efforts cause structural problems that effect the entire story. Sburb, its mechanics, and the general vibe are *not* subject to this issue however. It is no wonder how the game captivated audiences and made them into mini authors, fantasizing their own adventures in the Medium.

Moreover it is something that the first half of homestuck handles very well and it's the pacing. Now, the meandering, faffing about tone sticks around for 3 whole acts, and honestly doesn't fully leave until act 5. Regardless. Things like this exposition dump about skaia, they thrust the story FORWARD, and give the audience, and john, tools to ground themselves int his crazy land, and of course gives both us and john goals to look forward too.

I feel act 6 would have been far more tolerable with less distant goals. English is a great villain, but he is so isolated as to basically be a non factor for most of the story.

Lord English is only a real villain to Dave for all of the webcomic, he gets treated as a plot device or some goal to conquer by everybody else who actually care about him, and even then that doesn't really get nearly as much focus then it should've been so I can't really see him being great at villainy at all. I don't think this would really work, like I agree that LE should've been something the characters actually care about like something similar to Bec Noir, but not to this level. I remember Hussie talking about in those author notes (I think?) that LE's influence to the narrative is to recruit a bunch of other people to do his bidding for him (HIC, Damara Megido, Lord Jack, Gamzee, etc) but this is so gay and lame.

Except we established that it isn’t because the stretch takes course over the same 13 year span except now only 1 /3 of the ship is at the end point and now you have to leave the ship there unless you plan to spend 13 more years unstretching the front to make it normal again. It is just so...idk its just weird. Caliborn is a man child who is canonically retarded, his super power is both unyielding perseverance and drive to get what he wants, but another one is, recruiting others to do his bidding, to be a master. But as caliborn, he slots more closely into the role of a villain like skeletor or something. An active ever present threat, who has schemes and busts in to crash the party, or uses his minions to enact them. But as lord english, the whole point is that hes a god amongst gods, almost entirely all powerful, but also pretty mindless so hes just a force of nature. But at the SAME TIME, as Doc Scratch he recruited a bunch of people to be his minions both to ensure his creation but also to do other dirty work.

But the problem is as a force of nature he just...isn't threatening. He barely kills anyone actually important. Ghost john dies off screen, coulda been pretty good motivation to vriska if she A. CARED ABOUT IT. Or B. It acted as a wake up call to the audience because we *saw* him kill the MAIN CHARACTER OF THE STORY.

He occupies a middle ground between a mustache twirler and a tornado and ends up being unfulfilling as both.

Actually so were the denizens, you can see the little lizards gaming with John and Jade when they are playing ghost busters as well as Casey in earlier shots. Jade brings them up when telling Callie what happened and how they all tried to comfort her but it never really worked. People tend to ignore them cause none of them really do anything and they aren’t super plot important but they are very much on the ship too hanging around of course. Tons of those red lizards too but I got no clue if they were actually good at the game and we never get to see them finish playing
