>no chud, american superhero comic books aren't focused on fights, despite they are about superpowered characters whose main job is fighting fellow superpowered characters

Get ready, somebody’s about to post that 1933 Popeye comic page to prove that western comics can have great fight scenes.
>>
Count the number of pages devoted to fight scenes and pages devoted to things other than fights. They are an aspect, but they typically aren't the singular aspect. By contrast, with some shonen, you'll have an entire issue, sometimes mulitple issues, devoted to a fight scene.
>>
Anyone who posts any iteration of pepe (that isn't a panel of Boy's Club or otherwise directly associated with Matt Furie) or wojak deserves to be doxxed, hunted down, and murdered for being a blight not only to this board and this website, but also to the collective intelligence of the entire human race.
Furthermore, they're violating>>>/global/rules/6 >>>/global/rules/10 and arguably >>>/global/rules/13 so they must be reported as soon as possible and as much as possible for the greater good.

The foundation just isn’t there. Look at any manga from the 1970s, they were just as stilted as Western comics, arguably even more so. The shonen boom of the 1980s changed that and over the following decades, manga gradually refined its approach to fight choreography. Nothing comparable ever happened in the Western comics industry.

samefag, despite western comics and animation industries being filled to the brim with weebs, they still struggle to replicate japanese fight choreography. Ironically, the manga artists behind these fight scenes were often heavily influenced by Western action movies and martial arts films. Toriyama loved Jackie Chan movies and drew inspiration from them for Dragon Ball, while the creators of Fist of the North Star were huge fans of Mad Max and Stallone's action films. The difference is that Western comic writers often don't seem to watch much action cinema or study martial arts and they treat fight scenes in manga and anime as background noise.

Frank Miller and Bryan Hitch revolutionized western storytelling in the 80s and the turn of the century. Miller was even influenced by manga.
