Is he really “a terrible person” still, compared to Stolas?
>>
>>155964111
He’s not gay enough so he’s a bad guy
>>
>>155964111
No, he is bad at communicating his feelings and now he is dealing with the consequences of not expressing his love earlier.

He can pretend he is fine but the reality is that he missed his chance.

Yes. Absolutely.
I don't know why you're trying to isolate it to one season when his hesitation is a result of the previous seasons.

Blitzo is a fucking scumbag that uses people and throws them away the second he's bored. He's a sex fiend that uses others to cope with how awful his past was. Stolas is the first person that he liked that basically threw his life away for him while they were already growing apart. Blitzo does not know how to be earnest in his feelings. He's not used to someone being here this long. He can't just use his charm to seduce Stolas anymore, they've grown beyond that stage.

Blitzo's biggest problem in this scene isn't his reaction. it's his entitlement. Blitzo sleeps around all the time. He was mouth fucking every guy at Loonas' club and still getting fucked by Chaz and looking for pleasure in Ghost Fuckers. According to demon society this is extremely normal.

This isn't a situation like in Season 2 where both Stolas and Blitzo were using each other and wrong for their own ways. This isn't a betrayal. They weren't together. This is just incompetence and jealousy. The same fucking drama happened in that furry game Adastra. It's so fucking trite and dumb. If it's clear you are not in a relationship with someone, you cannot get mad when they start seeking other partners.

You can hate the show. It's immature, repetitive and sometimes takes itself way too seriously. The animation however has always been one of the only things good in these Viv shows. Denying that is just being delusional.

Human lives have no value to demons. Why would they? People just teleport to heaven/hell when they die, there's no cessation of existence. In a lot of ways, killing humans in HB is less of a big deal than eating meat is irl. Who gives a shit?

>>
>>155964693
A militiant vegan could say every non-vegan deserves the same retribution for the same reasons, but both you and the vegan would be missing that people in general don't give a shit about killing animals all that much, just how demons don't give a shit about killing humans. Unlike you I have the capacity to grasp that applying a human-centric moral framework to demons is moot, just as i wouldn't apply an animal-centric moral framework to humans. Animal death is tasty and productive to me as a human, just like killing sinners is both fun and productive for demons.
>>
>>155964816
Morality is very much objective
Killing cattle is nowhere near similar to killing a sentient person with hopes, dreams, fears and other people in their life
IMP are scum no matter how you look at it, the fact their culture puts so much value on life is proof that their culture is shit, not that their viewpoint is valid

They're demons from hell. What sort of behavior were you expecting from demons from hell?
>>
>>155964843
>Killing cattle is nowhere near similar to killing a sentient person with hopes, dreams, fears and other people in their life
They don't care about the sentient person any more than the average human does about the cattle. Vegans can reasonably argue cattle has the capacity to suffer and therefore shouldn't be killed, which is logically sound, except the average person simply does not give a shit. Empathy is always selective.
>IMP are scum no matter how you look at it, the fact their culture puts so much value on life is proof that their culture is shit, not that their viewpoint is valid
And meat eaters are scum no matter how you look at it by applying the same line of reasoning.

>>155964849
Moral relativism is by itself descriptive, not prescriptive. It can't create, only inform.
>>
>>155964964
Then how about we stop seeing and treating them like people when its convenient, hmm?
Just enjoy their suffering indifferent of who is causing it or who is the one suffering
>>
>>155964974
Well, vegans are objectively wrong, so idk where you are going with this
Humans need meat to survive, demons in the vivzieverse dont need to kill people to make a living, IMP especially could make so much more money if they instead ran a smuggling/courier business, but they chose to murder people in cold blood
>>
>>155964979
>Then how about we stop seeing and treating them like people when its convenient, hmm?
Human beings impart human feelings onto everything. Animals, plants, inanimate objects. You can't stop a human being from treating something "like a person" when any sort of analogy to the human emotional or mental experience can be seen.
>That cloud looks like a horse!
>IT'S JUST A CLOUD
that's you. Of course we're going to talk about the human drama. We're humans. When the little red critters come up from hell and murder humans, it's funny because it's jarring. It's funny because in those moments we are forced to remember they aren't people, in spite of their surprisingly human emotional lives.
>>
>>155964677
Sinners are supposed to be on a higher rung than imps. That their assassinations just add more to a class that annoys or oppresses them is something that shouldn't be ignored or handwaved. On top of some sinners maybe not being too fond of having been killed. The show tries really, really hard to ignore this.

Which wouldn't be much of an issue if it fully stuck with what the pilot promised. But if you also want to create believable drama, relations and reactions then the world should be equally believable, or at the very least more than it is right now.
>>
>>155964979
>these demons enjoy inflicting suffering, which is bad
>therefore i should enjoy their suffering
Smartest moral absolutist
>>
>>155965013
>That their assassinations just add more to a class that annoys or oppresses them is something that shouldn't be ignored or handwaved
It feels like the sort of thing that would probably feature prominently in content that crosses over between Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, in fact.
>>
>>155965031
I read on the Hellaverse wiki that I.M.P. apparently were initially supposed to be Hazbin characters, an incompetent but funny group of assassins. But because they were too comedic they were put in their own show. At which point I just my head remembering how HB eventually turned out.
>>
>>155965007
>Humans need meat to survive
They don't, you can survive on a vegan diet. You can only argue humans need meat to thrive, which is defensible, but it's just as defensible as demons making a living killing sinners. It boils down to indulging one's self-interest.
>IMP especially could make so much more money if they instead ran a smuggling/courier business, but they chose to murder people in cold blood
And you could prevent so much suffering by choosing not to eat meat, but here we are. The cognitive dissonance and post hoc rationalizations are always funny tho
>>
>>155964816
>Unlike you I have the capacity to grasp that applying a human-centric moral framework to demons is moot, just as i wouldn't apply an animal-centric moral framework to humans. Animal death is tasty and productive to me as a human, just like killing sinners is both fun and productive for demons.
The problem is you're ignoring that humans and demons have roughly the same intellectual and emotional capacity, similar enough that demons in this story are essentially humans in costumes. Equating humans to livestock is just, well, dehumanizing but also disingenuous when the gap between humans and demons basically doesn't exist.
>>155964677
>Human lives have no value to demons. Why would they? People just teleport to heaven/hell when they die, there's no cessation of existence.
Ignoring all the other implications of this for a second, they're still skipping them ahead in line before they can fully live their lives on earth and make all the choices they would make that would determine which afterlife they go to. They're also separating them from their loved ones in the process, possibly permanently depending on which afterlife they go to considering how hell works.
I know they have reasons not to care, but if they don't even have that ethical/empathetic baseline then why should I care?
>In a lot of ways, killing humans in HB is less of a big deal than eating meat is irl. Who gives a shit
A cow isn't exactly planning to send their kids to college. He doesn't bury and mourn his parents when they get slaughtered, and he certainly doesn't ponder its own life nor does he have hopes for what he might achieve in it or thoughts about what it should or shouldn't be like. Viv can't have them be comically evil black comedy characters and then turn around and expect us to empathize with them. That's just having your cake and eating it too.
>>
>>155965031
Well, we are getting a crossover episode next year. Maybe that will address it or even change the business. Viewed as a whole though, that doesn't make it any better. It's the type of question that should have been dealt with in S1.
>>
>>155965060
IMP was originally meant to be a "meanwhile" (as in JTHM) thing for HH, an unrelated side plot to provide some comic relief and flesh out the world. Once the decision was made to spin it out into its own standalone show, it required its own dramatic backbone, since it couldn't borrow Hazbin's.
>>
>>155965115
I disagree about it requiring its own dramatic backbone. At the very least I'd have preferred a different one from what we got.
>>
>>155965081
>It's the type of question that should have been dealt with in S1.
Why? You can have a workplace comedy with an incompetent boss figure without a season 1 episode harping on about how failure to unionize entrenches bad management. I don't see where there's an immediate requirement to address the long term structural consequences of a job just to tell a story about the people working it. Yeah, IMP is indirectly reinforcing the class structure that keeps them down by increasing the number of sinners in hell. You reinforce capitalism by working for a wage; how early on in any job do you start addressing that issue?

It's an interesting question to broach from a world-building perspective but failing to tackle it immediately doesn't make the world somehow unbelievable.
>>
>>155965067

That much is true, but they are different species entirely not just on a biological, but even metaphysical level. The assertion that empathy is governed by the perception of intellectual and emotional capacity is a post hoc rationalization, in truth the aversion to harm is innate and highly conditional. Which is why the average human does not give a shit that their steak must have suffered, even though it can be known rationally. Don't care, still tasty.
>I know they have reasons not to care, but if they don't even have that ethical/empathetic baseline then why should I care?
You're entirely free not to care if you choose to apply your human-centric moral framework when following the adventures of a different species with an alien mindset, but to me it seems like the more engaging and intended way to interact with it is to insert yourself within their moral framework. I'm human everyday, i don't get to follow gay ass demon drama everyday. But it's up to you.
>A cow isn't exactly planning to send their kids to college. He doesn't bury and mourn his parents when they get slaughtered, and he certainly doesn't ponder its own life nor does he have hopes for what he might achieve in it or thoughts about what it should or shouldn't be like.
But they do have capacity to suffer and to cease experiencing, which we recognize as pretty bad within our own species.
>Viv can't have them be comically evil black comedy characters and then turn around and expect us to empathize with them. That's just having your cake and eating it too.
I can't say I personally care what Viv can and can't have, I don't care about the author(s) at all.
>>
>>155965141
Oh no, the class structure thing is not the most important there. That's just another brick. To me, it's mainly how they kill people that could very well become a problem for them as individuals or a group seeking revenge. It's completely on the money for a shortsighted moron like Blitzo to NOT think this through, and would be a good way for a plot thread and/or character development.

>alien mindset
That's what I'm trying to get at, anon. It's not alien. Everything they think, experience and do is not any different from humans at all.
>I'm human everyday, i don't get to follow gay ass demon drama everyday.
It's just regular gay drama, anon. They are humans in costumes, I know there's a few differences with the existence of magic and whatnot but Viv doesn't portray them as alien in any sense of the word. If you want truly alien mindsets to explore you'd have to read scifi because this isn't it.
>But they do have capacity to suffer and to cease experiencing, which we recognize as pretty bad within our own species.
Yes but regardless of how you slice it, they're not comparable to a human mind. Comparing humans to livestock ignores this basic principle.

Arguing about whether their actions are appropriate for the environment theyre in (hell) is pointless because vivzieslop only acknowledges theyre in hell when it's convenient to do so. For all intents and purpose they're in an alternative version of California where the sky is red
>>
>>155965208
>To me, it's mainly how they kill people that could very well become a problem for them as individuals or a group seeking revenge
I mean early on they kill someone on contract who immediately shows up at their office, in fact this happens more than once (the Lyle Lipton and Emberlynn Pinkle) so obviously they recognize that it's a potential problem, just evidently one that doesn't crop up very often.

I think the bigger plot hole question is an economic one. Hell is clearly structured as a capitalist economy, both hellborn and sinners seem to need to work for money to survive (I guess arguably sinners will "survive" without money, but in order to do anything to while away eternity, they still need to acquire it). So how the hell do the recently deceased roll up to IMP with enough cash in pocket to hire out contract killers for a revenge scheme? The hits evidently pay well enough that the company can afford its office rent and pay its employees doing 1-2 kills per week, so obviously the scale of the money here is more like selling cars than selling hamburgers. Does IMP do soul-bound financing or something? We never see any of it. How the fuck does Blitz actually get paid by people who popped into existence a day or so ago?
>>
Look, you cant portray your characters as remorseless killers and then expect me to feel bad for them when they suffer from the consequences of their actions
>>
>>155965262
>That's what I'm trying to get at, anon. It's not alien. Everything they think, experience and do is not any different from humans at all.
It is similiar in many, even vast majority of aspects, but it is fundamentally alien as far as interspecies relations go, because they are a different species, and being of different species is always a big deal. I'm sure me and the cow I ate share many common psychological traits, we both know hunger, pain, we're both social animals too, all by the virtue of being mammals, but i still ate it and didn't think much of it. I'd eat a monkey, too. As many people around the world do.
>I know there's a few differences
The few differences is how i get over them killing people.
>Yes but regardless of how you slice it, they're not comparable to a human mind. Comparing humans to livestock ignores this basic principle.
That's very arbitrary. Everything is comparable to everything, no two things are the same and there's always a degree of likeness. A cow is more like me than a rock is. A gay demon owl is more like a gay demon imp than a human is.
>>
>>155965302
I think this is because the business and related things operate entirely on 2000s era cartoon logic. Cue the Collin Schizo post. Feels like a writer constantly going through a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde transformation.
>>
>>155965302
>So how the hell do the recently deceased roll up to IMP with enough cash in pocket to hire out contract killers for a revenge scheme?
Do they ever actually get hired by someone who just died a second ago? I'd assume every sinner has to be given at least some starting amount of hell dollars to get them started, otherwise they couldn't afford to even get a job to begin with. Or maybe they go to hell's central bank to get a hell loan.
