Nothing beats Margiela’s in terms of fit, style, comfort, and quality. I’ve got them in black and white. You can often find them in end of season sales for more reasonable prices. i wear low quality nike/adidas/puma/etc suede in the snow all the time too. as long as you clean them after its no big deal. if cleaned constantly the process takes like 2mins just spritz, brush, set the nep, dab dry. its a meme that suede doesnt hold up or dies in wet conditions. only if not maintained. black gats look better fresh&clean white ones look better trashed.

I wanted a pair of GATS for years, the design and coloration just seemed so classic. Finally got a pair of Korean made knock offs. Decent quality, the "gray" suede is too light, maybe it would darken with use. But the real issue is that I have no idea how to style white shoes. I mean you basically have to be wearing a white shirt to match, and your pants need to be reasonably light as well. I've only worn them a couple times since I got them a few years ago, I guess I should get rid of them.
