finally drove to the Guerlain boutique todaysome first impressions:>eau de guerlaina bit heavier on the aromatics than I thought it'd be. the mint and caraway is kind of fun. does not seem too special on first try though, might need to test it again. not particularly similar to eau sauvage on first try>habit rouge edtpretty damn nice. really does come off as "shalimar for men". a more understated and weather-neutral take on that dna>vetiververy tobaccoey take on vetiver. uncompromising / niche by today's standards>mitsoukovery nice. the peach is subtle, mostly a nice smooth floral chypre. green and earthy and flowery. >>18156377>>18156378I've tried some Guerlain. I really love Habit Rouge EdT and will probably be getting a bottle if I manage to find one (it's kinda hard to find it where I live). Habit Rouge L'eau was very uninteresting to me, plus it performs very poorly. I've also tried Vetiver, which was ok but not really my thing, and L'eau boisée but don't remember how I've liked this one. L'homme ideal cologne was fine. When I tried Pour un Homme I didn't like it much but by the time my sample was running out it had really grown on me. Yatagan smells really good to me but I reckon it's not a people's pleaser, smelled kind of dirty to my nose, which I really like. Will add Jaipur to the list, are the EdT and the EdP much different? Unless directly said not to I'll be going for the EdT since where I live it's rather warm almost all year around. >>18156387I'm expecting at least one of those (maybe the Cerruti?) to be suitable to wear at the office. >>18157336Kouros. literally the smells of funky sex.
>me when one drop of oud
I'm comparing vintage Kouros with the modern formulation and find the difference is prominent. The opening of vintage has a civet note that is unmistakable and can remind one of piss, you can't miss it. Its spirit barely clings on in the modern formulation, but it really gets muddled in with the musk, lavender, and slight powderiness. I don't think modern smells challenging and find it quite easy to wear, especially if you're already familiar with stuff like Kiehls Original or Jovan Musk. But vintage Kouros picks up if you give it time to settle on your skin, just a few minutes. The opening slaps you across the face but weakens, and you're left with something that just smells really vibrant with some slight sweet in the back. It's almost like it's shining, whereas modern is fuzzy and more powdery in the dry down. And the funny thing is Kouros in his current form is still better than many other fragrances on the market, and not that bad compared to vintage.
>>18157604
>>18157662i have a new kouros and it smells EXTREMELY pissy on the opening. it could be years old I guess. It's newly purchased though.
>>18157662depending on how old your bottle of kouros is, it may be less animalic than the original charles of the ritz version thanks to reforms motivated by pierre bourdon himself. according to pierre, he reached his ideal kouros formulation sometime in the early 00s, everything since has been either a cost cutting measure or an attempt to sate the modern obsession with cleanliness.
>>18157383>I'd rather just buy two bottles of terre d'hermes or somethingthen you'll be twice as sexless
>>18157673I purchased a mini that looks almost exactly like this, yellowed cap and all. Even the juice almost looked yellow. How old are these?
>>18157634>I need something for summer, can you recommend? If you can tolerate a fragrance that only lasts like an hour and a half or two hours, I absolutely love H24 Herbes Vives. It is absolutely fantastic bright, green, fresh fragrance. It is like walking through a garden. Think herbs and fruits not flowers. But like I said that bright fresh greenness only lasts for a couple hours at most for me. But it so refreshing to wear and smell. I also like the other H24s. While I never smelled the EdP i hear most people who like the H24 line prefer the EdP over the EdT. But I did like like EdT as well, but it didn't have that same amazing upfront greenness. But any one from the H24 line would be well suited for Hot weather.
>>18157678no idea, i’d have to see the box
Whats your favorite vintage Avon?
>>18157689It appears it likely came in the double striped boxes, definitely before the year 2000. Splash bottles (and I'm assuming splash minis) reportedly stopped being produced around 2003 based off my cursory readingshttp://raidersofthelostscent.blogspot.com/2014/01/kouros-scent-of-gods-12.htmlhttp://raidersofthelostscent.blogspot.com/2015/03/kouros-scent-of-gods-22.html
>>18157696double striped box could realistically be anything from an original charles of the ritz (not out of the question considering the yellowing on the plastic) to sanofi, which is a pretty huge range. i don’t imagine the bottle of the mini says anything, does it?
>>18157583In d'antiquités 1505 the saffron is just a supporting note for the cherry. It's also less sweet almondy like the Tom Fords, but more frankincense.Cherry is the perfect sex note for me.>>18157604Either wasting hundreds of bucks for TF cherry smoke or go with d'antiquités 1505.

>>18158158they love it if chad wears it, they hate it if some ugly creep wears it, for some reason zoomer incels still don't get this

>>18158031>That musky drydown isn't for teens. What, are you impling teens can't smell like freshly washed clothes?
I only wear frags made by companies native to my town. If you were a periotic person, you'd do the same
>>18158286Great idea. They're mostly also better than shilled designers or niche.
Coomer mutt is really talkative today
>>18158278>Chad hardly wear Y YSLsure but that wasn't the point, the point is that zoomer girls only like something like Y if Chad wears it, otherwise they're either indifferent or dislike it. But you're right, a lot of these companies only make a profit with their perfume lines because incels and indians buy their slop thinking they'll get laid.
>>18158286Are there any frags made in a cornfield?
>>18158308stop replying to the coomer mutt, thanks.
>>18158308>a lot of these companies only make a profit with their perfume lines because incels and indians buy their slop thinking they'll get laid.yeah I kind of feel bad for those guys. I'm not saying one should be totally oblivious to what other people like in a fragrance, but that can vary from person to person so much it only makes sense if you are doing it for a particular person who you know actually likes it, like an already existing girlfriend. But even then you should still only buy stuff that you personally really like and then just look for positive synergistic effects where possible.
>>18155970is it true that animalic musky fragrances are meant to be worn while dirty/unshowered? it is only then that the fragrance smells like it's supposed to smell.
>>18158481This but unironicallyBe better
>>18158464I guarantee you the fragrances are not made and tested on unwashed men. They’re made in little 2 mL test batches and smelled on those little paper strips. Then, only after it has been decided it smells good will they even begin to start testing on skin.
>>18158481>>18158505Fuck. Guess I gotta go blind buy something.
>>18158464I don’t know if unshowered but they’re definitely meant to be worn on skin for them to smell good. A lot of retards spray a musky animalic on a paper strip and then they are surprised when it smells like literal shit.

>>18158481TZIGANE WATER
I have never seen a gypsy in my life that wasn't trying to run a scam. I don't get what would cause anyone to stick up for them. I see them all the time in California begging and doing dent repair scams. One of them hit me up in a parking lot just a week ago offering to fix a dent in my Tahoe for $150. He was covered in some kind of sores too.
>>18158481>>18158664You know why it is called Gypsy Water? When you spray it on you, it takes maybe 30 minutes to realize that the scent is gone once for all, and so is the money that you spent on it.
>>18158394Wouln't it also be good not to pick something too common so you don't remind someone of their ex because you wear the same fragrance?

>>18157336I was at a perfume store and randomly picked Fahrenheit EDP and sprayed it on me quickly and was about to walk away, when a slightly chubby stoner chick beside me went ’’Woah, what fragrance did you just spray, it’s nice.’’ So i directed her to it.She sprayed it all over her in a misting way, as an incel i had never seen a girl put a perfume on her before. In my autist mind i think i should’ve recommended her the EDT version while surprising her about the main meme note that is gasoline.Maybe she would’ve been charmed by that silly knowledge.Maybe she would’ve given me a handjob at the H&M’s dressing stall.Maybe i’m just too autistic incel.
>>18158695yes to all of thosesotd: kouros

Sampling Kokorico and it's pretty nice. Chocolatey patchouli with woods in the back. People were saying that Guerlain L'Instant (edt, in my case) is better, so I am comparing the two. Maybe they're right, but they're not entirely the same. Kokorico is more forward with its chocolate note and as it dries the woods come through more than L'instant. LIDG has the citrus and the spices up top to balance it out with the chocolate in the back. Kokorico is definitely more gourmand than LIDG, which isn't gourmand at all. LIDG smells smoother than Kokorico and is a more timeless, versatile scent. Kokorico is more youthful and playful. I'd say I prefer LIDG.
>>18158694To be fair I've only heard this argument from reddit users, though I doubt normal people would consider something like a fragrance racist
any recommended deodorants?looking for something with no aluminum, scent-free and actually effective
How does Botafumeiro compare do Encense Suave?
>>18158695If you wanted to talk to her, instead of explaining something you could have asked her what it was she liked about the perfume. This would give her the option to continue talking to you, which she might have wanted given that she approached you, though it's hard to say. It also steers the conversation into something she likes, perhaps she likes it because it fits in with a certain style or something. Whereas you can't know if she'd really be interested in your knowledge of perfume notes.
I live in southern europe and wear mostly linen trousers and shirts with loafers in the summer, wool trousers and overcoats in the winter with chelseasWhich frags would fit that style? I'm 26

I'm looking for a fresh and clean frag similar to Greenley. What are your suggestions sars?
>>18158759Have you tried showering?
>>18158764something classic and low-key, old-school but fairly timeless. maybe Eau Sauvage or Acqua Di Parma Colonia for the summer. for winter either some rich barbershop+ type thing like Nicolai New York Intense, Guerlain Heritage, Lalique Lion or whatever or some classy oriental, maybe Jaipur Homme
acqua di parma is shit! SHIT!so aggressively synthetic, so one-dimensional, so weak and ephemeral.and they're not even cheap.bergamotto di Calabria is probably the worst frag I own

>>18158895
>>18158891Got it, I'm going to add them to my list.
>>18158683I suppose that isn't entirely unreasonable but I think the risk is dramatically overblown. So few people wear fragrances to begin with and even the most popular fragrances still only make up a small minority of the total share of market by volume. By intentionally choosing a less popular fragrance you might be reducing a .8% chance you smell like their Ex to a .4% chance you smell like there Ex. Also even if you smell like their Ex there is a good chance it doesn't even matter. People have types, so there are likely other aspects of you that are similar to their Ex but that usually doesn't matter either. Almost no one breaks up with their boyfriend/girlfriend because of the fragrance they wear.
>>18158835>>18158764some fresh vetiver and something with tobacco. maybe terre d'hermes and burberry london or something
>>18158860you are getting anosmic to ISO E>>18158888Antaeus is the more leathery one because castoreum is kind of leathery. I would say it's darker and classier than Kouros
>>18158911>you are getting anosmic to ISO EYou sure that's the case? I literally can't smell it 10 minutes after I spray it on my skin with 10 sprays. This is possibly the first fragrance I own where I experience such thing
>>18158910>and burberry londonI have Burberry London and really like it. However, I feel that once the temp gets to the mid 70s (so maybe 23 or 23 C) it isn't the best fragrance for that. I don't think Burberry London is a very strong or heavy fragrance but I do avoid it in warmer weather. If anon is in Southern Europe, he may have a smaller time frame each year to wear that fragrance depending on where exactly he lives.I fee like Terre D'Hermes is a good choice though. Also look at H24 either the EdT or EdP. While I love the Herbes Vives edition I feel like the others are better suited to his style.
>>18158912>I literally can't smell it 10 minutes after I spray it on my skin with 10 spraysthat's a clear case you're going anosmic to itISO E heavy fragrances are infamous for this. a minority of people can't smell the material at all, and many get "used" to it very quickly and it plays tricks on their nose, they go noseblind to itspray it further away from your nose and in smaller doses, it should help if it is a case of going noseblind
>>18158917>While I love the Herbes Vives edition I feel like the others are better suited to his style.that one fashion youtuber who kind of dresses in that minimal linen wool neutral colors kind of style wears H24, TdH and Eau Sauvage. I forget the name, Tim something
>>18158911Thanks bro, I'm gonna get Antaeus first.
>>18158895odeur 71
>>18158888I don’t get leather from either, but I suppose Antaeus. Although you need to like castoreum and rose dialed up to 11. Modern antaeus got its castoreum scrubbed and I don’t find the rose strong anymore, so it lost most of its character.

>>18159130ok, just dilute them with alcohol. problem solved.
>>18159165Different anon here, they have nothing in common. Profondo is a very light and slightly sweet marine scent, while Hacivat is super strong with grapefruit/pineapple and dries down to rather musty oakmoss.

>>18159212Thanks for clearing that up. I was torn between for the two for the summer but I think I'll definitely be going with Profondo now. Blind buying a strong frag might be a mistake.
>>18159240Atleast go with Aventus, Hacivat is more daring take of that DNA.
>>18158629Guerlain Samsara
>>18159240Blind buying is always a mistake, but Hacivat would be extremely bad one for it. The opening isn’t that divisive even though it is really, really strong, but when it dries down to that musty, almost cellar-like mossiness that goes far beyond typical light oakmoss you see in perfumes, some noses just aren’t going to agree with it. Not even saying this as some ”you need to be a hobbyist to understand the scent thing”, more like some people are just naturally going to hate that kind of vibe in such a strong and direct form.
the coomer mutt appears to be losing whatever little of a mind he had to begin with
So I purchased a sample of JPG Fragile thinking it was a mini splash, but I'm afraid I just got the cap. I opened it (I had to pry it open) and the inside smelled like water. I'm retarded.
