>>18158229Omega could be pretty based if they didn't drop literally all of their appealing watches except for the speedmaster and seamaster lines. They dropped all of the good examples from the constellation and deville and other lines and they're left with a bunch of thick dinner plate shitters.
>>18158256Yes, that's true. They could streamline their lineup and improve it greatly at the same time. It's not that Omega produces a TON of different references that's the problem. They've always done that. The problem is that they produce too much shit. There's nothing wrong with offering a watch in a bunch of different sizes and with a bunch of different colors.>ConstellationShould go back to being the high-tech, smart casual watch it used to be. This is where all the new technological innovations should go. Importantly, though, nothing that is thicker than 11.5mm should make it past the initial design stage.

>>18158219GS is cool and has some pretty cool engineering. I love Nomos’ designs and that they make everything in house. Another cool feat of engineering. Don’t really care about the rest but that’s just my preference.

>>18158284Even if they scaled it up a little bit to modernize it and make manufacture a little easier ans give it a little more integrity to the case, if they made this watch 38mm and even 10mm or 11mm thick who the fuck wouldn't want a watch like that?

Explorer cope #213474?I'm not saying reverso is better than this or that, I'm saying if you're entertaining buying a JLC why would you choose a model that is equivalent to every other generic watch ever? JLC made a name for themselves for their impressive movement engineering. A watch that is 2 fucking watches front and back in the same watch and still only 10mm thick, thinner than most watches with one dial and set of complications, that's objectively a remarkable piece. If you just wanted a normal ass watch there are dozens of other companies doing that better.
>>18159085>What other JLC would you buy though?I wouldn't buy JLC.>A watch that is 2 fucking watches front and back in the same watchWhy.
>>18159087I don't know what your problem is with my choice of JLC watch if you wouldn't buy any JLC in general. Why bother asking which JLC it was if it didn't matter?
>>18159088Because reverso is shit and my question still stands, why do you need 2 watches in one watch?
>>18159090Well, the short answer is you don't. But from an engineering perspective it's very impressive, nobody else makes anything like it, and you could argue if each face is a different color it can work for a wider variety of outfits and occasions. If I just wanted a round 3 hand watch with a date I'd buy a datejust or aquaterra or something. I guess the JLC master collection moonphase would be a good dress watch, but even then there are a million generic moonphase dress watches. Again, the point isn't even that the reverso is amazing, the point is what else would you buy from JLC that everyone else isn't doing?
>>18159097>the point is what else would you buy from JLC that everyone else isn't doing?Am i missing something here? Is someone forcing you to buy JLC? What would happen if you just don't buy it at all?
I haven't been here from before Moon Swatch. What was /wt/ thoughts on it.
>>18159107Plastic garbage.
>>18159104Someone suggested buying a JLC and I explained I'm not the one buying it and the person buying it for me doesn't like any JLC I showed them. I guess you don't read the reply threads you are replying to.
>>18159113>>18159104I guess what I'm actually saying is the odds she'll buy me a JLC are slim because she cringes at every JLC I show her.
Are there any other watches with arabic numerals, diving bezel and day/date at 3 o' clock? The Sinn 104 is almost perfect (41mm, top grade Sellita movement and exhibition caseback) but I can't stand the reverse bezel. Luminox has something similar (https://luminox.com/products/automatic-sport-timer-0921) but their watches are not known for their quality/durability according to my research.
>>18159124I feel like Longines had something similar but i can't be sure.
any recommendations for a dress watch under $500 around 38mm's and leather strap
>>18159131Zulu time almost fits and is excellent.
>>181591321963
>>18159136If you really needed to you could use a 24 hour bezel as a timing bezel.
>>18158727>>18158722But the vast majority of Rolex buyers are like this. Same as with any other known Swiss watch brand. It’s literally all marketing and brand recognition. Otherwise you’d buy reps, Chinese slop, or a quartz watch. The actual quality of a mechanical watch is meaningless. A Rolex isn’t “worth” 10-15k in terms of materials and construction, but people will pay that much for one when you can get an almost identical clone from China for 4-500$.
>>18159141There's also the value retention. I know it makes a lot of people cry and seethe thinking of watches as investments, and you shouldn't look at it that way, but the reality is if you can buy a watch and then later sell it in a pinch for as much or more money than you payed for it that is very appealing when we're talking about purchases that cost as much as some cars.
>central second hand on a dress watch>automatic movement in a dress watch>lumed hands on a dress watch>nato strap on a dress watch>stainless steel dress watch>non-white/silver dial dress watch
>>18159146They aren’t investments. But you should get into a watch at a place where if you sold it, you’d at least break even, I’ve never lost money on a watch. EVER
>>18159084you post that everyday, we get it, you own one watch and you bought a credor instead of something good, yes we get it.
>>18159155Yeah, and that's a lot more feasible when you buy Rolex and maybe a couple other brands like Patek.
>>18159107how plastic does the blancpain feel?
>>18159139i keep looking at it, I like it but I hate chinese people / culture / alphabet
>>18159151>>central second hand on a dress watchany other second hand is degenerate>>nato strap on a dress watchwhy not dress it down at times? you can wear your watches, anon, even if they're not the most suited for the occasion
>>18159155lol this poorfag has to sell watches he bought to afford rent. "I never lost money on a pawn!" wow what a flex. I've never been in a pawnshop, can't relate.
>>18158754It's like a house but for rich people.
>>18159166>dress watch on a natonta but what the fuck
>>18159166>any other second hand is degenerateThe small second is the most elegant and natural way of adding a complication to a watch, as it's just a hand on the pivot of the fourth wheel. Central second hands = sports watches only.>why not dress it down at times? Wearing a dress watch with anything other than a leather strap is like wearing a suit with sneakers. Only tasteless fags do it. You can wear a dress watch in a casual outfit, but keep it on a leather strap.
My nigga Alain Soral is wearing a Rolex
>>18158319This one but black and yellow one of my grails, could have bought it when I had the chance and now's gone.
>>18159030Exactly. Gen X and younger paying 5- 10x for a watch the Boomers and older paid much less for is crazy. To take one example using most popular income to inflationary models... the price of a mid Rolex in the 1970s was much more similar to buying a mid to high end Seiko today. If your ultra rich or a watch dealer it might be different but for the working man and anyone else your delluding yourself. That's the kind of reason the watch bubble is popped / popping. The inflation in price is discounected from income.

>>18159250Those aren't even good fakes. You should go back to taking low-res pics from a distance.
>>18159162>how plastic does the blancpain feel?It feels like a hard plastic, but plastic nonetheless. It doesn't scratch that easily and it's well molded. The lines and engravings are sharp.
Whoretadello's in a spicy mood tonight.
>>18159243NTC but how is this not /wt/ related? We are on /fa/, faggot. If you want to talk about movement finishing and balance wheels you can fuck off to reddit faggot.

>>18159250You're easily the angriest, most bitter poster ITT. Someone didn't like your shoes and you flew off the handle.
>>18159264No, that's a hooker having a very awkward date with a unwashed weeb who wants her to take pictures with his watches for some reason.
>>18159035>That's why you always buy omegas used. You can get them used for $6-7k all day. It's a fucking 2k watch max retard.
>>18159267Maybe a couple years ago, but nowadays even old reference Speedmaster Pros are hard to find in good condition for under 3k USD.
>>18158985rep = replica = fake
>Is a big brand watch the same without the name? Without the storied past? If a Rolex Sub could be made for $5k but didn't have the same company backing it, would you buy it? What would you be buying into at that point? Just a watch.
>>18159294I've bought a number of $200-1000 watches that are effectively copies of various rolexes and I've loved every second of wearing all of them.
seiko presage gmts
Bittercel lmfao kek
Anyone have any micro-brands that they really enjoy?I'm looking for a new watch in the $600-$1k range have seen a few online that get the motor running, but am always worried about actual quality when it comes to these smaller brands. Yes I know they're mostly just running Miyota movements, occasionally something Swiss, I'm fine with that, but worried about case quality.
Who is Whortadello?

>>18159328Why do you care?>>18159326Is san martin a micro brand?

>>18159335I'm not Marc. A number of people here have bought islanders and had a good time with them.
>>18159334Islander was on my list, pic related. Was also interested in Farer, which I've seen posts about rarely, and Marloe which just pop up in my ads all the time.
>>18159343love the colour on this one
>>18159343Farer is one I'm really interested in but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Their use of colors is interesting and brave even if a bit gay sometimes, and they do some interesting things that almost nobody else does like making applied indexes out of solid blocks of luminous material.
>>18159269>Maybe a couple years ago, but nowadays even old reference Speedmaster Pros are hard to find in good condition for under 3k USD.Ok? If I tell you my turd costs $50k will you pay or will you tell me I'm a retard? Why don't you do the same to Omega?
>>18159361Alright, buddy, we get that you don't like omega, but it doesn't change the reality of what they sell for on the secondary market.
>>18159331>Some rich german-japanese guy who likes grand Seiko more than Rolex and has sex with Japanese women. You should just get a tripcode, Whoretadello, so we can filter you.
>>18159340That's exactly what Marc would say

Were you guys not kidding when you said Greeks were the niggers of Europe? Also>MSRPIf you paid MSRP for a Seiko, you are mouthbreather-tier retarded. If you paid less, you're pathetically trying to make your purchase more impressive. Either way, it's not a good look.
>Whoretadello leaves>Thread immediately slows to a crawlJust how much samefagging does this guy actually do?
>>18159356I love their use of color, I'm looking for something more flamboyant. My whole collection is "stately" right now, and I just want something more "fun". I want something loud, like this.
>>18159371The Zodiac Sea Wolf has a lot of fun color combinations too.Or, you could go for something less expensive, like a Swatch or G-Shock if you want to be casual.
>>18159372I really don't know how Swatch stays in business. $20 Casios have a dozen functions compared to $80-100 Swatches that just tell the time and have a popular cartoon character printed on them.
>>18159372I hear ya, but most Swatches are too loud even for me. A nice Casio would be a good addition to the collection though.
>>18159250This thread is about watches not shoes.Designer shoes are the single most retarded things you can buy. Good quality shoes you can have resoled (redwings) is one thing. Tudor and $1000 per of trainers seriously, thats how I know your broke, like those people with a car that costs a third of the price of their house parked in the drive. Also Prada is for woman or gays.
>>18159362>>Alright, buddy, we get that you don't like omegaTard read my posts instead of arguing with an imaginary friend.
>>18159368>This is niggerbehavior. Were you guys not kidding when you said Greeks were the niggers of Europe? They have been raped in the ass by Turks for 2000 years so yeah.
>>18159401>>18159361>Okay so imagine this completely retarded unrelated scenario, right? Well it proves my point Kill yourself Yes if nobody is willing to sell shit for 50k and you can't make it, that's what it's worth
>>18159401You're fucking wrong. What more is there to say?
>>18159409A $250 watch isn't a $9k watch idiot. Your problem if you're dumb enough to give them free money.
