I visited the Citizen boutique in Ginza last March. It was kind of sad really, as it was accessible only from a back alley back entrance to the mall it was stuck to. No entry from the mall directly into the shop, you had to walk out the back entrance, pass a delivery ramp and then hidden away is the Citizen boutique. Compared with Seiko's grand old building it was kind of pathetic.

The manager approached me and spoke perfect english and let me try on pic related, which I really liked. He showed me the difference between it and the older version.
I thought about it, but declined.
Later saw this model in a yodobashi or biccamera and it was maybe 130k yen less than the boutique price.

I'm still on the fence about the difference between GS quartz and Citizen's. On paper I like the idea of the GS's approach but in practice it wouldn't make a difference.
>>
Opinions? I like everything but the hands, cop/not?

That's wrong though. Rolex has very few "ambassadors" and most of them aren't even famous.
Most of their sponsoring budget is spent on
>sports events (ATP tour and Formula 1 championship)
>high end cultural events (operas, classical music festivals, etc)
>scientific initiatives

Brands that spend a shit ton of money so celebrities wear their watches:

Breguet may be the oldest watch brand in the world, but they produce way too much watches. As a result, you can buy their watches on sale. So much for "muh deep heritage".
Meanwhile, Sylvain Berneron launched his brand last year and there's a 9 years wait list for the Mirage.

Why does this thread hate bittercel so much? He is unironically the best poster we have ever had. Here's my reasons:

bittercel is always brutally honest. He is like water, he will find a crack in your watch and pour in from there. He is the criticism we need. You never get that in watchuseek or reddit, you only get an echo chamber of “nice watch, wear it in good health, champ” bullshit. Not with bittercel, he does not care for your feelings which is why he will tell you the truth. Yes, your watch is too big for you, yes it’s a shitter, yes the lugs look like shit, yes the movement is crap. You, as a critically thinking individual, should embrace this.

We are all protected by anonymity here which is the point of this site. Avatarfags are pathetic going against this. Take reversocel for example; he couldn’t handle a bit of heat from bittercel and immediately fucked off to r/watches as soon as someone wasn’t sucking his cock over his shitters and pens lmfao.

Yes, bittercel may seem bitter at first, but he is the counter force to all this circle-jerking in here. He is harsh but fair. You hold the fact he never posts a watch against him, but that is merely him not taking a side. He is not a brain-dead fanboy to brands (other than Rolex, but Rolex is Rolex). This way he maintains his unbiased position.

And the best part of bittercel? He is always there for, right here, in this thread.

This. I don't know why he's starting this PR campaign to resurrect his reputation. Probably because Lorecel reminded the thread about Bittercel's pathetic origins.

He definitely does not criticise watches, though. He just makes the same ad hominem attacks over and over again.

Anyway, posting a watch in the watch thread.

The concept is interesting but it's extraneous. The traditional Swiss lever escapement is not so inefficient that it needs to be replaced.
Omega's implementation of it had some early issues, but by the time they made the cal. 2500D, it was perfectly stable.

Nowadays, it's not even worth thinking about. It's little more than another marketing gimmick.

His reputation is as a petty, jealous little boy. He hides behind a shield of "I hate avatarfags" and then also labels anyone who posts a wristshot an avatarfag.

>Don't a lot of the prestigious brands have legit good bracelets though?
Sure, but Rolex bracelets still have the best balance of comfort, durability, security, operation, looks and ease of adjustment.

All other bracelets, when measured against Rolex, fall short in one important way or another.
>>
>>18167883
The only other bracelet that has a prayer is the royal oak bracelet, but it's only on a relatively ridiculously expensive watch and yoi could argue the value isn't there for that reason. Daydates are only made in precious metal and they can still be had cheaper than steel ROs, and the bracelet still arguably mogs RO.

The Royal Oak bracelet wins out in terms of looks and finishing, but is actually quite poor in terms of comfort. The links don't offer very much articulation and the clasps, at least in the classic ROs, don't have microadjust to dial the fit in. (I don't know about the newest ones.)
