So this is the famous "/wt/" huh... the one you hear about all over The Chan from /a/ to /x/. The one general that has saved /fa/ as a whole and made this gay shithole board worth a visit or two.

I was promised:
>Japanese Bitches with fat titties
>I was promised rich lawyers with collection far exceeding millions of dollars
>Good coffee talk
>High quality professional images that would make anyone at /p/ reconsider if he's good at what he does
>A huge collection of pristine Weekdaters
>A highly knowledgeable Omega connoisseur
>Lots of Gold and Silver
>Drunk posts on Friday nights
>Qualified watchmakers going into autistic depth
>Rolexes, Grand Seikos, Mosers, Omegas, Breguets, Credors, F.P.'s--
>Wristshots on top of Japanese booty, sakura trees in the background, inside expensive cars, wristhots in Dubai, in Tokyo--
Hell, I was even promised Guns and people wearing their watches on their dicks. I was also promised Cat posting and even someone posting his stool next to high quality swiss made watches.

What I got instead is:
>Chinese watches
>300 posts, 12 images
>30% of the posts deleted
>People calling each other poor

Words can not describe how disappointed I am. I guess rumors did get the better of me, I came with zero expectations and yet I am leaving with disgust and being mad at myself for falling for those said rumors. I am not even going to waste time calling you "people" names, because you're not even worth that much.

My company wants to buy me a watch. I think I’m just going to get a 1926. Black face and silver band. Would be my first watch. Is this the safest bet?
>>
>>18729968
What kind of company is this? Why do they want you to buy a watch? Are they reimbursing some amount of the money to buy one?
>>
>>18729972
It’s a gift from my boss. They buy it w company card as a way to give a bonus without it being taxed. I work for CFO of large construction company.

What do you think of the watch choice.
>>
>>18729973
Generic and stupid.

>My boss says pick out any Rolex you like.

Also no one believes that.
>>
>>18729973
What is the budget you're allowed to spend?
The 1926 is terrible, please pick something else.
>>
>>18729978
No limit. Boss says 'knock yourself out, it's on the company card'.
>>
>>18729973
The 1926 is the worst Tudor IMO, but if you like it you like it.

If you like that style check out the Longines master collection. Or the heritage collection. I know Tudor is usually perceived as slightly above Longines but I think they do that style much better.
>>
Best to get a G-shock or something since you work construction.
>>
>>18729980
Longines uses $200 movements and then charges multiple thousands for the watches surrounding them.
Only a fool wastes money on Longines.
>>
>>18729979
If this is actually true: Cartier Santos Dumont. I think you'd like it if you like the 1926. It's also arguably the most important watch of all time.

>They buy it w company card as a way to give a bonus without it being taxed

They would still be taxed, if your story were true
>>
>>18730004
I think he means without *him* being taxed. Probably bullshit though. Companies did give out watches as incentives or bonuses all the time in the past, not so much nowadays, plus they usually didn't let you just choose whatever. If it's a small company and he's friends with the CEO could be possible though ig.
>>
>>18729979
If that's really true and you really want to get the most out of it, I'd say definitely get a gold watch. Get a 36mm rolex daydate, or if you're willing to buy older used pieces maybe a gold oyster perpetual or datejust. Get a cartier tank louie. Get a JLC reverso or master control ultrathin. Get a blancpain villaret, although if you're not super into watches a super complicated watch would be too much of a pain to set, maybe just stick to time only, date, or maybe day and date watches. Get one of the gold IWC portuguisers. Find a tourneau and try a lot of stuff on.

If you want to keep it relatively modest I'd say just pick a 36mm steel rolex datejust or oyster perpetual with your favorite dial color. You can't go wrong.

If you want a GShock square, you may want to check the new MIP versions. GMW-BZ5000 (4 models) and GW-BX5600 (3 models). Their negative displays are readable compared to Casio's old negative ones.
>>
>>18730174
A G Shock is good for that. If you want something mechanical, Sinn, Archimede, Damasko, Marathon, Doxa, and some models from Mühle-Glashütte come to mind. These are all much more expensive though of course. All very cool and very tough watches though.

>There is no official exact number of total Audemars Piguet Royal Oak references produced since 1972, but estimates from historical brand archives and catalog data put the total number at well over 500 unique references, expanding into thousands of individual variations if you count distinct dial colors, case metals, and gem-set configurations. At any given time, Audemars Piguet maintains a massive footprint for the line; for instance, the standard catalog routinely carries around 120 to 150 active Royal Oak references alone, excluding the Offshore and Concept sub-collections

Anyone know what reference this is supposed to be? my brother got me pic related or something like pic related, same dial has the day date. I'm sure it's a jeet forgery. I want to buy whatever's the real version of it so I can pretend it's the gift he gave me without having to wear a jeet watch.
Also what's a good place to sell your old watches? I have a bunch I don't wear since I mostly wear a blue seiko 5 sports diver, but I want to trade that (and my other watches) for the new 38mm seiko 5 sports diver because they didn't have the 38mm in blue when I bought it and I have kind of small wrists

I was the one complaining that they make the watches too big. Connery's sub was 37.5mm and most dress watches of the time were 34-36mm. they make shit too big now. I'm white and have 6 3/8 inch wrists. I have a blue seiko 5 and it fits fine, but I think the 38mm would look better, but when I bought it they had the 38mm but not in the blue colorway, only in gay colors and I didn't realize they put out blue last year and it's sold out most places that I don't think are gougers or sketchy.
smaller watches wear better. I have some mystery meat franken watch that has a 35mm case and it doesn't look huge. I think the normal seiko 5 looks fine in the mirror with my thumb up but looks kind of big when I check the time
