How do you cope with insomnia when you're eating less than 500 calories a day?
>>

Ok, so if I was limited to only 500 calories a day, I would optimize my eating window so that it was about an hour before bedtime, and make sure that most of those calories are coming from protein in order to keep blood sugar levels stable throughout the night. The addition of fiber and water could also offset some of the hunger signals and discomfort. Milk or a milk based protein shake would probably be ideal in this situation. I also recommend valerian tea, blackout curtains and no lights (including smartphones) 1 hour before sleep.

Does eating low calorie cause insomnia? I would think the body and mind would want to rest
>>
I slept amazingly when I was super low calories.
8-10 hours too since I was so tired.
Rest of the day sucked
>>
I find it hard to sleep more than 5-6hours when I am really low carb, so maybe eat some of your 500 cals in carb form idk, you should eat 700 instead anyway but whatever

yeah it keeps you alert, like your body's giving you a boost to hunt for food, hard to sleep in that state

Depends on how lean you are. If you have a lot of fat you can readily metabolize you'll probably sleep fine. Once you get into the lower ranges the cortisol and all that ramps up a lot and get restless nights, normal training volumes feel like over training, injuries come out of nowhere. It's brutal if you don't have some kind of scheduled diet breaks to fix your hormonal shit.
