Noob here, hows my deadlift form?
>>
>>74216809
Look at the ground infront of you and wear shoes
>>
>>74216845
You never look down on an ascending lift like deadlifts or squats
You keep your head and eyes up to guide your brain in moving in that direction
If you keep looking at the ground, you will go towards the ground
If you look up, you will go up
And fuck shoes you don’t need em
>>74216809
Other than that OP, good job, not bad for a noob desu, just don’t fall for the sumo propaganda
>>
>>74216884
whats wrong with sumo?
>>
>>74216909
Sumo is just leverage abuse, it’s all about trying to pull the weight with the smallest range of motion
You’ll have guys that get bendy bars and a stance like they’re almost doing the splits deadlifting 700 pounds, but the actual weights only move like a few inches off the ground
Same applies with benching and arching your back and having your grip touching both ends of the bar, just so your range of motion is just a few inches and you probably would’ve been better off just holding the bar in the air instead of “benching” it
>>
>>74216884
is it weird i dont get any DOMs in my legs, only my lower back?
>>
>>74217333
no, new lifters will have weak as fuck erectors (lower back),
>>
>>74217333
Well it’s a back exercise, your erector muscles and lats will be sore if done properly
However, it is also a leg exercise
I suggest learning to brace properly to save your spine before you move up to heavier weight and hurt yourself, and making sure to squat down lower to get more leg drive and to keep your head/chest up
If you have to widen your feet a little bit to do it then that’s alright
>>
i could murder this guy with one hand
>>
>>74217370
not if i have a gun
>>
>>74216809
>dyel does strength training
Many such cases, just do a split
>>
>>74217573
hey 315x5 aint too bad for a noob
>>
>>74216809
Why are you barefoot at a public gym you retard
>>
>>74217615
it's a kickboxing/bjj gym, no shoes allowed in side
>>
>>74217621
i should clarify no outside shoes, i could bring clean indoor shoes if i wanted, but i didnt.
>>
>>74216809
I would say your hips need to be higher from the start. Also look at the ground 10 feet ahead do you. Also raise your chest at the top and lock out.

Also what’s up the the bands? Can’t you lift outside the rack? I feel like that might throw off your form after the first rep.
>>
>>74217660
> I would say your hips need to be higher from the start
well darn the guy above said to squat lower
>>
the sooner you stop doing this retarded meme exercise the better
>>
>>74216809
Your form is decent and it looks exactly like mine. I got form critiqued by someone much more experienced than me who said I need to learn how to take the slack out of the bar and wedge. He also said that I needed to look straight ahead/at the wall instead of at the ground. Also you should really be using a belt to protect your low back as much as possible. At this stage in your training you're just trying to get stronger and an injury is the last thing you want.

Here's a good video I found on how to pull the slack out and wedge: https://youtu.be/99Ff_mNNEq4

what?
>>
>>74218014
He's one of those people that thinks deadlift is inherently bad and will snap your shit up no matter what.
>>
>>74217729
thank you!
>>
If I crouch down into a comfortable position to reach the bar, and my arms are vertical if the bar is about 3" in front of my shins, is it better to...

>Just lift it
>Lift with arms pointing backwards so the bar touches shins
>Force myself to crouch more to move shins forward to bar
>>
>>74216809
I don't mean any disrespect here, but if you can lift that much weight in a dead lift while being that skinny, what the fuck is the point of dead lifting?
>>
>>74219126
that just means i need to lift more
>>
>>74216809
That is a clean lift. Nicely done, you could probably go heavier with not much more effort on your part
>>
>>74218887
you can just roll it closer to you?
>>
>>74216884
Lmao, fucking retard

>deadlift thread
>/fit/ dyels giving shitty advice and calling poor form okay yet again
Every. Single. Time. This guy's shoulders are almost in front of the bar for fucks sake, he's squatting the weight up. The bar makes a ton of horizontal movement because he sets up way too far in front. He is not doing a hinging movement, it's horribly inefficient.
>>74216884
>>74217353
>>74217703
>>74217729
>>74219155
Dyels, stop giving advice. If you don't deadlift a good amount of weight yourself just shut the fuck up.
>>74217660
Hip position is not something you look at. It depends on proportion. However, it is true that his hips would be much higher if he sets up properly.
>>
Your deadlift looks awkward and janky
Think about pushing your feet through the floor and dragging the bar up your legs
>>
>>74219263
All of it. You don't have to 'look up to go up' that makes zero sense. You want your spine in a neutral normal position, not janked into trying to look up under a load.
>>
>>74219214
Yeah, but then my arms are angled back to the bar, not vertical. It goes up both ways but I don't know what's ideal.
>>
>>74219265
so the shoulders should be directly over the bar?
>>
>>74216809
How do I blur out my face in videos?
>>
>>74219126
This is actually a pretty good question.

Yes, or rather, a little bit over. Read this if you actually want to understand how the deadlift works on a mechanical level https://startingstrength.com/article/deadlift-mechanics-the-obvious-can-be-obscure and watch one of the Starting Strength deadlift setup videos (or Alan Thrall's new one, that one works too). Don't listen to the advice you get from dyels that deadlift shit themselves; they do not actually understand how to deadlift, they just copy what they see strong people doing without understanding why. That's why you get retards who give advice such as "squat down more!!". They've seen lifters with different body compositions end up with a steeper back angle and think that they need to emulate it even though their proportions are different.

Understand the movement. Follow the setup guidelines. As long as you do that you'll be deadlifting properly. Once you've got that down you can experiment.
>>
>>74217604
that's exactly my point. It's done nothing for you

(not op) Thanks for the tips and links I'm going to focus on bar position over feet and not worry about shins

did op actually post this thread because he thought his deadlift was good and because he wanted to show it off?
