Anyone have any tips/suggestions for working out in the cold? My power rack is in my detached garage, which isn't heated or insulated. I wake up at 5:30 and go out there to lift, but now it's ~40 F at that time, and it's going to get much colder as we go into winter. A PT told me that I run the risk of cramps/strains because the cold would make my muscles stiff. Is that actually a problem, or is there any precaution I should take once it gets colder? I'm not going to install a heater or insulation because I'm moving out of this house next year and it's not worth putting any money into it. I also don't have room to bring everything inside.
>>
stopped reading at power rack

>I also don't have room to bring everything inside.
live in the garage and have your lifting room inside
>>
I'd recommend an infrared heat on a tripod pointed at your rack/bar/weights because trying to use a frozen bar sucks dick. If you rest in front of it, it'll help keep you warm too.
>>
he "doesnt have room"
thats cos ur a slob you pathethic rat

>1k for a handful of steel beams
man that rack better be powerful
>>
>>77572853
That's the price of not buying Chinese steel. Buy the chinkshit if you want. It'll be cheaper and function mostly the same.

space heater. joggers, hoodie, fleece jacket, gloves, hat. insulate your garage if you can. move your workout time to the afternoon/evening since the sun will have warmed the garage up some.
>>
>>77572853
I got mine for $400.

>>77572847
I have read Marie Kondo, nigger. My rack being inside wouldn't make my house happy.
>>
>>77572787
The only solution is insulation and heater. So if you're not doing that you will need to bundle up and use a space heater and have a shitty workout
>>
>>77572919
Space heater is fine, and its portable so you can keep it incase you need it later on. Just let it warm up the room 30 minutes before you intend to use it
>>
>>77572787
>eat moar
>have better cardio so you can burn more energy at a lower heart rate and generate more heat with less effort
>Use the cold to your advantage fuckass pussy nigga
>>
>>77572789
Anon you're braindead.
>>
>>77572787
The cold workout rules, you'll slash rest times to get things done quicker and maintain comfy body temps. Make sure to soak your underwear in water before you work out.

is the whole gloves thing a meme? the skin on my hands literally rips off on pull excersizes when i dont use em. i dont use straps tho

literally just warmup and lift in thick clothes.
It's actually cool that you get to work in such kino environment.
Heat is just fucking annoying and retarded but cold is kino.

I've been working out in my detached garage, no heat, Canada, for years. You will be fine. Jump rope on the path between sets. Wear gloves and cover your neck.

get snowshoes
do a 15 brisk walk in the woods in heavy snow
start workout after
>>
>>77572787
Get snowshoes anon
>>
>>77573029
You're holding the bar wrong retard. For pulling exercises the bar needs to be in the crease under your first knuckles, right where your fingers connect to your hands. Not in the middle of your palm like where it rests in pushing movements.

My garage doesn't have heating so last winter I just kept a couple dumbbells inside my house. You can get a pretty solid upper body workout with just a 10lb and a 20lb dumbbell if you do enough reps.

Can you recommend me one? I don't know how big or how powerful of a heater I need. I'm ok with the rest of the garage being cold so long as my bench, rack and barbell are warm.
>>
>>77572925
Space heater wont do shit especially that cold
>>
>>77573433
>>77573434
Do 4 sets of 30 with a 20lb dumbbell for curls, lat raises and overhead press. You'll feel it.
>>
>>77573438
embarrassing, you shouldn't post that so proudly
>>
>>77573437
>heaters dont work in the cold
???
>>
>>77573444
I'm saying electric space heaters aren't powerful enough to heat a detached garage especially non insulated or sealed.
>>
>>77573454
Yeah not long term you dumbass, just before and during working out so its not miserable, and you can maybe defrost the bar a bit.

I have a one of these things and it really doesn't do shit when it's below freezing unless you're standing directly in front of it.
>>
>>77573488
Doubt, ive used shitty cheaper electric versions that made the difference in winter during workouts
>>
>>77573492
I can see it being useless if OP is telling the truth with -40. I don't even know what that feels like. A typical winter day for me is 20, rarely 0 at the coldest. I've been in walk-in freezers at -10. At max setting the 18k btu heater is about 3x stronger than a standard electric heater.
The non-insulated shed is likely a single open room, the heat instantly spreads out over too large a space before being lost entirely to the outside. If you wanted to make a heater work you would at least want to try to partition off a smaller space in that shed with a little insulation on makeshift walls.
>>
>>77573505
He said about 40. But regardless, like you said if it isnt a small room, the heat wont do shit but warm your hands when you put them close. If ops picture is the actual size then running a space heater for 30 minutes wont do much
>>
>>77573517
Lmao yeah tilde 40. That makes more sense for this time of year. OP's a bitch.
>>
>>77573505
Jesus Christ, anon. ~ is a tilde, it means approximately
>>
>>77573520
40s not bad, but Winter's going go to get down to -15, so that's what I'm asking about.
>>
>>77574937
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=curtain+room+divider
These are literally the only thing that fit your annoying restrictions. They'll do something, but don't expect magic even if you install them tight and use thicker curtains.
>>
Literally all you have to do is warm up. Like, warm up exercises and make sure your muscles stay at elevated temperature before, during, and a little bit after lifting. Warm up sets do this nicely if you're wearing sweats, which you should.
A heater might help for comfort but isn't really necessary. A hot drink would be more helpful.
>>
>>77575061
Heater to warm up the bar and pointed at you during rests inbetween sets, ez pz
>>
Today I will ask 4chan how to stay warm
