>>100090486To be decent at programming requires a fair bit of alone time with a computer (not necessarily terminally online), a geeky yet adventurous mindset especially when it comes to tech, a decent amount of abstract thinking, and a spirit of craftsmanship. Most of these qualities are either missing or deficient when it comes to the average real, biological women out there, even the intelligent ones. Same deal with the gender "wage gap" and "glass ceiling". Feminists are selective on which careers they want to see more women in and blame the statistics on patriarchy, misogyny, sexual harassment or some other bullshit even though by law you can't discriminate based on sex. Its mostly free choice. Women are not as competitive as men, more social oriented, and most never develop nerd habits. Women CHOOSE to go into careers like social work, teaching, nursing, psychology, design, business management, etc. They obviously won't look at industrial or trade jobs that require manual labor and don't work as hard and outnumbered by some of the hardest working men so they aren't as represented in the higher paying jobs. The only tech jobs I've seen xx-chromosome women enter and be relatively successful in is data science, UXUI design/frontend webdev, and IT. If you want to see more women without hurting other qualified candidates, the tech industry would have to admit James Damore was right and that you should pour more effort into their early life to get them interested.
