>>100122852No. I've seen some weird grainy whetstones at my local chinese supermarket, but basically every cheap AliExpress whetstone will be made of aluminium oxide, be very uniform and be good enough for any knife, no matter the price point. It may not get your knife sharp as quick as a premium stone and it may show signs of wear faster, but it'll work.I'd argue a cheap Aluminium oxide combination stone with a coarse side (think around 400-600 grit) and a normal side (think 1000-1200 grit) is what everyone should get first and once that is "used up" at least to some degree, you can buy an expensive one, as you've shown to actually use it.Don't forget to level your stone occasionally. You can use a leveling stone, but you can also just use the pavement outside to level at first.

>>100137424oopssorry, I have no idea
>>100137171>were would you recommend purchasing this, and what brands?Just go to your local Asian grocery store, they all sell it.Or just buy it on Amazon.Or that saywee.com Chinese grocery website, better prices then Amazon.Formosa or kimbo brand and both big and available most places.
>>100132897>chink tape. How's your experience with off-brand tape been? Fine or lots of failures ?
>UGREENHave they surpassed Anker?
>>10013737190% of the price of a UPS is the battery. Don't cheap out on your battery. I've had good experience with APC, but apparently they've gone down hill.
>>100138005Anker What
>>100138158sorry i can't resist
>>100138145Normal ups use acid batteries, which I don't want to use just to power a router and modem
>>100138359>router and modemSounds like you're better off using some USB-C PD adapters and a power bank then
>>100138004Fine so far. The official stuff is just typical printer price gouging anyway. I kind of want to get some of the more fancy colors.
>>100138359What are the power inputs on the the router and modem. Because as >>100138391 points out you're probably better off going with batteries, rather then the waste of DC-AC-DC conversion from an UPS.
>>100117243Any suggestions for a double din android head unit?I am a cheapass, my budget is <$100. I am thinking Atoto but am wondering if there are better/other choices.
>>100138497>>100138391Outages are somewhat frequent so I just want something I can permanently fix to my router and modem though. Having a chuink power bank connected 24/7 doesn't sound too safe
How good is chinese footwear? i keep seeing it everywhere.
>>100137151No, i have a extractor fan and clean atleast once per week.
>>100138919It werks?I have one set of loafers I wear to work and it's relatively comfy, and I have one set of "running" shoes for my treadmill but it's barely okay
>>100138893Well then get a "regular" power bank. It is still going to be the best option provided your router and modem uses 12V/9V/5V
>>100139011I don't use power banks. Can one be plugged into a wall (charging) and power equipment at the same time?
>>100139102Not all of them, but yes, most do.
>>100138893You're going to have to do a touch of research and answer the following questions:What power does your modem and router want? (volts and amps)How much autonomy do you want? (hours? days?)
>>1001391326 hours would be enough for 95% of my outages so I don't think it's worth chasing after more than that.Router claims to be 12V 2.5A, but that's probably with it completely overloaded so I'll probably need to buy something to check its actual power consumption which I expect to be lower than that.Modem is 12V 1.5A because it's a shitty isp mode router, but it also should be consuming less than that as I turned its wifi network off.
>>10013921312V x 4A * 6 hours = 288 WhIt's to late at night for me to translate that into 18650.It would be worth it to know the actual draw of your devices
>>100139213>12V 2.5A>12V 1.5AYeah, that is the absolute maximum the power supply can give before giving out. Your devices likely use a lot less than that. Most 20W/22.5W power banks will provide 12V 1.5A which may or may not be enough to power either or both of them.I power both a SBC (5V and up to 3A) and a router (12V 1.5A) using a single Baseus 22.5W power bank. I step down the 12V for the SBC using a LM2575S. >>100139383An 18650 has about 8-14 Wh so he'd need ~28 cells to power his devices in the worst case scenario, but it is very likely that his devices' power supplies are overspecced. There's no way in hell his router uses 30W and his modem 18W
>>100139213One thing to keep in mind is that consumer UPSes aren't intended to keep gear running for an extended time. Their goal is to allow you a few minutes to shut down and save your files. A 300 W UPS will cost you 150 bux (or so) and would only last 1 hour (assuming 4amps). Continuous operation for 6 is not something trivially chinked.
>>100137136For cheap smart watches the Mi Band 7 is good if you want a cheap, but good, heartbeat monitor. The Mi Band 8 seems to have a less accurate monitor compared to the 7. Nice for taking averages in case you have an elderly person or for personal use for appointments and such.Of course, get a velcro wrist wrap or something else than the default rubber/silicone one. Also what's the new WIP site? Is it:>New guide (WIP): https://csg-guide.neocities.org/
>>100139494that's why imnot looking for a ups, they are lead acid and that fucks off fast if you get anywhere close to fully discharging them. Mini ups tend to use lithium batteries instead. Now of course the problem is trying to get a good estimate of how much each device actually needs, because as >>100139479 said, they aren't going to use as much as the power supply can provide.>>100139383yeah, the actual draw is what I'd need, not that the 6 hours figure is set on stone but it'd be a nice goal if it's not too expensive.
>>100139479>that is the absolute maximum the power supplyGiven that everything is SW these days, I assumed those were the numbers on the router/modem and not on the bricks.
>>100139545by SW I of course mean SM

What's the ideal chink tws? I had chink airpods pro replicas and they were pretty good, but I sweated into them while running and now one side constantly buzzes at full volume because it's trying to noise cancel but I think the ANC mic is dead. Are moondrop space travels still the best in ear memes? Or is there a hot new one? Ideally, I'd like them to be able to control volume easily, be wireless and sweat/rain proof.I don't much care about sound quality.
>>100130869>Fifine A8 I just bought one of these because my clip on mics are apparently too quiet. How do you like it? I'm just gonna use it to voice chat with people when I'm playing vidya. Everything I saw online said that fifine make pretty good mics.
>>100139629>>100139753The 8 seems to have gotten most things worked out and better than the 7, but the heartbeat monitor is the one thing reviewers said is less accurate for some reason. At least it makes the 7 cheap for people to get. >>100144201I like it very much, but it is a in-your-face type mic, unless you wanna pickup background noise. But if you get an arm and set it up correctly the voice quality is extremely good. My only negative is you gotta toy around with the knob on the back to get the sensitivity/volume right. Also in sounds > recording > mic settings > level put that to 0. If you use discord and your voice is low, the auto control gain option fixes that.

Yo, fellow /g/! I just wanted to share my experience with the Xiaomi AX3000T mesh routers. I got 'em for my mom's crib since the ISP router was a total garbage fire. I thought I'd need two, but it turns out one was enough to get the signal decent. But, being the overachiever I am, I decided to set up a mesh network with both routers and, man, it's like a whole new world! The signal is strong, stable, and my mom can finally binge-watch her shows without any buffering. I'm stoked with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their home network.

Running changsoft on my phone is one thing I refuse to do.>>100132863I was considering the catprinter, but it's thermal transfer paper as opposed to the pigment that brother tape printers use. Thermal paper fades over time and doesn't resist chemicals like acetone or alcohol.
>>100117243question about cleaning bots, mainly are there any that will not gather my data and sell it to pingpongs?
>>100145792no. If you're willing to forego the room mapping feature and setting timers, you can just get a roomba and never connect it to any network. It'll bumble about bumping into everything, but on a long enough timeline it'll clean somewhat decently.
>>100145781>thermal transfer paperThermal transfer (ribbon) printer is the more expensive long lasting type, it works similarly to laser printers except toner is preapplied to ribbon instead of a powder cartridge.Thermal paper printer (or thermal printer) is one that does not require extra consumables but the special paper fades out in less than a year.Cat printer is the cheap thermal paper type.

>>100149198I did. But that's hobby-related, so I didn't add it. I have to keep it brief due to character constraints.
>>100149211Do we really need n update posts going towards the bump limit each thread?
>>100148987>Cat 7 and later Cables don't work properly unless your router is designed for themI didn't know that, I thought they would be backwards compatible and just "throttle" if the device doesn't actually support it, like using usb 3 on usb 2
>>100149304Yes. Sorry that you don't like it.
Got a cheap SD card reader.Seems pretty good for the price. I get about 90MB/s read and 70MB/s write on the card I'm using, which is rated for 120MB/s. Not the fastest for USB 3.0, but still better than 2.0. It gets around 40/40 on 2.0, which I think is pretty close to maxing out? I copied 40GB onto it in one go and it never choked.Seems pretty well built and doesn't get too hot. Both slots are clicky style and are usable at the same time. I like that it's not a dumb side slot for regular SD with more than half of the card sticking out. The big name brand readers are probably all faster, but can't be found for under $10. As long as it doesn't cook itself or short out anywhere I'm pretty happy with it.
>>100149446man once i tried to make a big blogpost with tons of recomendations, is not gonna fit>>100149198i do plan on making a big guide sometime, but life always gets in the middle, thanks for those
>>100149211>Changelogshould be Chang's Log
>>100149515>i do plan on making a big guide sometimeWhat do you have in mind? I'd like to do some markdown thingie where anons could contribute with git, while keeping them anonymous. But I have no idea how, unless I host it myself.
>>100149211I think it would make more sense to keep the full list in another page, then when a change happens just show the changelog here and maybe added entries. No need to worry about character limit that way either.
>>100149508Just realized I posted a pic of the USB-C version, but the one I got is A. Identical otherwise.
>>100149546the problem for a "static" guide is that if we link something from chang, he will change his price, so then cheng is a better optionis not the first time i have shit posted here start being more expensivei may have an idea on how to deal with that but i cannot do it right now, too many real life important projects going on
>>100149705>is not the first time i have shit posted here start being more expensivei cant into english today
What's a decent chinkshit smart watch?
>>100149868amazfit, anongo for amoled and sapphire glass

there is this fat fuck youtuber that tears down electronic chinkshit, I think he had a big follower count so hopefully someone here knows who I'm talking about
>>100150964You're probably thinking of based bigclive.
>>100151013thank you, anon, that's who I was thinking about
>own a cat that leaves hair everywhere>own a dog thats fat as fuckcan you recommend me a decent aliexpress grooming device and also some automatic food dispensary thing for my dog?i need to groom this white pussy
>>100151796get a kitchen scale and weigh your dog's food. put it into a 30% caloric deficit.
>>100151807the problem is my dad is a fucking retard and has been overfeeding her to the point that shes so obese people keep making comments whenever i walk herhe says that hes afraid shell get angry if shes not fed enough (she will not) and now shes so obese she barely can go on walks. hopefully getting an automatic dispenser will make my dad fuck off and stop killing the dog from overfeeding her
Anyone have any recommendations on electronic kits? Kinda wanna fuck around on some projects and learn to build stuff with batteries and motors, but i have no idea where I should start.
I was looking for a desk fan, any recomendations?
>>100151845>hes afraid shell get angry if shes not fed enoughthe fuck? your dad should've not owned a dog if he's not ready to discipline her.
so the yagi came in today and I hooked it with this tplink dongle not really sure if I got chinked, I mean it does work and it looks like packet drop reduces while using it vs the default stick antenna, i also got a bluetooth 5.3 dongle still need to test and see if I can go over the 220kbps speed cap that i have using the current 4.0 oh and i got this nice huge bag its for like a 16inch laptop and its got this l33t look to it
fuck i forgot the image, I will test the yagi some more if the anon from /sqt/ is out there
>>100145714Nah vacuums suck(kek) at dislodging dust. I have a dyson vacuum and some teapot looking wired air blower and it's way better
>>100153673Who are you hacking mr robot??
>>100152640https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805615920276.htmlI started with an even more basic arduino kit. You could get one without an Uno and get a better microcontroller like esp32 or raspberry pico
>>100143001Seconded. Anything with cadmium, lead, etc is labeled due to laws in California. Pretty much anything from mainland China has the label on it. Taiwan and USA made should be fine.>>100120720Asian grocery stores. There's multiple in just about every American or Canadian city. Can't speak on behalf of other countries though. I regularly hit up chink and pajeet stores because their meat is much cheaper and they carry specialty ingredients. >>100125431>shelf liners>peel and stick backsplash tiles>photo paper (used for making framed photo prints)>cat roller scratcher>cat shaver>engraved cat tags>cat food mat - good for cleaning up spills>cat litter box>soap pump>various adhesive products - paper towel holder, curtain rod holders, heavy duty hooks, smaller hooks. I use the heavy duty hooks to hang up fabric shoe bins and a mini ladder in my hall closet and they work great>screwdriver kit (bought it like ten years ago on ali)>coasters>>100131095Hydrocolloid patches. Turned out to be regular plastic. None of them on chink websites are legit. Lesson learned.>>100135793Save yourself the trouble and buy label paper if you already have a regular inkjet printer. You can buy inkjet label paper on ali/temu for a fraction of western brands. Chances are eBayers aren't going to give a shit about your packaging anyway. I took eBaying fairly seriously till I switched my niche and got into zuckerplace/craiglist instead.>>100151845Is your dad okay with giving her a mix of wet and dry dog food by any chance? Will he allow you to feed her? I adopted two cats recently (both of which are overweight) and wet food really helps them stay full. A slicker brush is a good choice for cat shedding. I have a brush from petco that is very similarr to this. I recommend getting one with the plastic dots on the brush so it won't dig into their skin.
>>100153802do you not have a nylon brush attachment or something? never had any trouble with my shitty vacuum sucked dust out of heatsinks and shit and mine isn't even a dyson.
>>100130926Its not as good as juicero
>>100126972Ordered one of these for me mum since she uses her pitiful $150 lenovo tab 10 with 2gb ram way too muchExcited to have something I can de-gay with unlocked bootloader that's relatively popular
>>100154826they should rename it to juicerino
What's a good thermal pad solution I can get for laptops? The kind where I can install and forget until the laptop dies. There was one in ali but I forgot the name...
>>100155329Honeywell ptm7950 or something like thatI'm using it on my t14 it's pretty good
>>100152640Get this ebookhttps://arl.human.cornell.edu/linked%20docs/Make%20-%20Electronics.pdfComponents kits are usually sold either as a breadboard kit (usually advertised as for Arduino), a larger more generic one or as a basic project kits. Get whatever isn't included from Sparkfun or whatever since Ali sellers usually sells individual components in sets of 10-20 pieces.
>>100117314This is probably just salvaged construction materials from collapsed buildings and lead salt>>100136389Wrap it in a bunch of electrical tape and it'll look the same while holding together for the moment it does snap.Or just find another stick and switch the top part

>>100150196Christ at those prices I might as well go official.
