Is Pop_OS just a meme distro for normies? I'm testing it out now, and I like some of the customizations they did, but something feels off.
Too bad it is ubuntu-basedI'll try their new cosmic DE when there's a fedora spin
>>100131351>but something feels off.Your meds. They sell hardware the distro is fine.
>>100131416I don't take meds
>>100131351One nice thing is that you don't have to hunt for Nvidia drivers since they have an ISO with it preinstalled.
Protip: it's based
>>100131411They're not risking a spin on tranny dick base. Better try Debian.
>>100131833Pop_OS isn't tranny OS.That would be Arch. Or Nix.Pop_OS just werks, unlike trannies. I, for one, am excited about Comsic.
It has GNOME which sucks. It also doesn't offer codecs like Ubuntu does on the installer, or so their website says. Their new DE is going to be a buggy alpha for years.
>>100131351>tile + stack + floating on demandIt's good.
>Pop!_OS
>>100131351it's for trannies
>>100131945>Colorado based distro>Pop_OS isn't tranny OSEveryone from Colorado is a tranny
>>100131411S A M EAME
>>100132098UC Boulder Alpha Chithank me later
>>100131351>Is Pop_OS just a meme distro for normies? You wish it was, so Linux could be an actual operating system for desktop instead of just a server operating system.
>>100131351>for normiesIt was too complicated for Linus Sebastian, so it must be an absolute hackerman type of distro.
>>100131450It shows.
>>100132330Linus is an idiot, he can't figure out how to do anything more complicated than dropping expensive hardware and selling the next product.
>>100131833Lmao retard76 wouldnt maintain the distrofedora maintainers would offer a branch that just has the publicly available DE bundled
>>100131351I don't like their preference for flatpaks but it's okay for most people I guessthey should just switch to a debian base
>>100132330no cap
>>100131351I feel like I must be missing something, because people always make a big deal out of how PopOS comes with Nvidia drivers pre-installed. On Debian, installing Nvidia drivers is as simple as editing your sources file to include non-free sources then installing the nvidia-drivers package with apt. Literally takes 30 seconds. Why do you need a whole fucking distro just to save you the trouble of installing 1 package on Debian?
install debian
>>100135563some people don't get how to edit the sources list
>>100135612If editing a 4-line text file to add the word "non-free" to the end of one of the lines is too hard for you, you probably shouldn't even be using a computer in the first place.
>>100131981bloat
>>100135695instead of using the terminal they fear it. so naturally a 4-line edit is comparable to climbing the everest
>>100131351>but something feels off.It uses Rust to do most of the things, but careful thou You can get yourself infected with troons
>>100135751>>100135695And this is what Apple and Microsoft discovered 20 years ago trying to ensure people who shouldn't use computers will buy computers.
>>100131351It's Ubuntu for people who hate Snap. The window tiling is also cool.
>>100131351I am waiting for Cosmic to come out before trying it, but I have heard good things about it even now. It probably helps that they also sell hardware, meaning that they have a financial incentive to make a good OS that comes pre-installed on their hardware
>>100132330Linus Sebastion as in the creator of Linux? That's crazy. Installing pop OS now
>>100131351Just use Debian.
>>100131351>Linux distro that actually just works>No, it can't be! It must be... uhh... FOR NORMIES! Therefore bad!
>>100131945Exactly, trannies have gotten mad at me for recommending Pop_OS over some stupid shit that doesn't serve its users. And before anyone starts wanking, yes I've daily driven Gentoo for years too.
>>100131351>Ubuntu based>Apt shit that causes your whole desktop to be removed when installing steam>Gnome>OutdatedIt's the biggest meme to exist, that might change when they finish cosmic, and perhaps they should go independent
>>100144948>Apt shit that causes your whole desktop to be removed when installing steamYou don't realize saying this about any debian based distro instantly reveals how incompetent you are. It literally only happens if you're manually fucked up your apt dependencies, and it's not easy to do
From my experience, definitely a good beginner distro. When I started my Linux journey I got a lot of knowledge and understanding on how Nvidia Drivers work through PopOs. While the Distro isn't really worth for anyone comfortable with Linux, I still believe it is important for newer freaks like me and you.
