Well, /g/?

I know. That should be an improvement.

Can it run normal windows applications though?

finally, AMD won't have the worst drivers anymore
>>
>>100143980
Under emulation, sure.
>>
>>100143912
It won't run linux for few years if ever.
Main issue with arm is not architecture, but drivers. For most SOCs all you have is heavily modified few years old kernel with billion of binary blobs, compatible only with that kernel, which was stolen from Android and never was designed for gnu/Linux.
I won't be surprised if there would be only windows version of this Thinkpad and noone will buy it because noone on windows cares about arm

Maybe not:

Ok my cope for buying brand new t14s for 1600$ 2 months ago have failed

At least I can play games on it...
>>
>>100143912
Windows on ARM is such a waste of time and efforts for everybody.

( That big bump for the camera is still better than Apple's terrible notch. )

I’ll give you $104.99 for one, not a penny more.

If I was Qualcomm, I'd hand these laptops out to smelly Linux developers to get the major distros up & running on Snapdragon X.
>>

it is worth 150 bucks maybe

Does /g/ has the highest number of poorfags per every hundred users out of every board?

I've still got a Windows Dev Kit with Windows for ARM.

Unstable as fuck.

if they reduce the form factor to 11 inches and make it have a decent battery life, I'm buying one even if it costs 1500 burger dollars.

I want a laptop with a footprint smaller than an A4 piece of paper.

linux support will be trash and who knows how long they'll actually support this, might not work beyond windows 11

>>100144955
If the performance is equivalent to the M1, with reasonable pricing, I think Qualcomm & their partners will do well, this time.
>>
>>100143912
looks expansive and ram is soldered. Could you install linux on it? I think they had a couple Snapdragon laptops before.

To hell with Loonix.
Windows 11 Pro is the name of the game.

Actually, Win 12 will be the name of the game on this bad boy.

I'm surprised Lenovo didn't shove this into the X1 Carbon chassis.

it's too big. larger than my current Thinkpad x280.
I'd even buy an ipad pro with the meme keyboard if I could use it as a real computer, with Emacs and access to a shell.

>le ARM efficiency
Tis nothing but a meme. Fucking desktop chip with IO die 3% lower perf per watt than the M2 Max. 7840U is only 3% worse than the M3.
They get good battery life because of the phone SOC design that allows low idle usage not because muh ARM. If you theoretically could replace the ARM cores of the M3 with Zen 4 and keep everything else the battery life would be identical. x86 chips have this issue of out of core and motherboard power consumption sucking down a constant 1-2W doing nothing. The actual CPU cores use almost nothing at idle.

The "updates breaking shit out of nowhere" game? It's almost up there with Arch Linux, not gonna lie.

Yes,

ARM = Phone CPU

x86 = Computer CPU

Anyone even slightly tech literate will agree with this. They each have different intended purposes.
>>
>>100145890
This is something that only unemployed NEET would say. For many people who actually leave their house from time to time, a power-efficient laptop with arm cpu would come handy.

my Phone CPU does just fine on my M1 Max

Holy fuck, the sheer desperation! Why are you keen on the compactness of the form factor so much? Are you a lilly livered, gentle handed woman? If yes, then good day, M' lady. If not, then stfu and get any 13'' ultrabook.
>>
>>100146011
>>100146062
The point is they're trying really really hard to trick people into buying computers with phone CPUs because it makes more profit. Think about it for a minute, phone CPUs are inherently cheaper.

In other words the whole thing is a grift. Using cheaper parts would THEORETICALLY lead to cheaper things, right?

Lookup computer CPU prices and ompare them to phone CPU prices.
