redpill me on oled. should everyone own one?
>>
I've owned plenty of OLED phones and even a PS Vita. Compared them side by side with IPS panels and I can't tell a difference.

Depends what brightness you intend to use it at. Anything above 50% brightness will cause burn-in over time. It's not really good for direct sunlight yet. Though it will be as it becomes more energy efficient (ie brighter).

>>100164203
Pay attention to colors and contrast. OLED can replicate like a trillion colors with each individual pixel having different brightness output. It absolutely curb stomps everything at HDR specifically.
>>
>>100164203
you cant distinguish between hdr and not hdr? that should be enough to be classified as a retard by a doctor
>>
why don't phone OLEDs burn in but on TV/monitors that's a concern?
what technology are THEY keeping from us?
>>
>>100164305
Phone oleds do burn in. Go to eBay used section or look at in-store models for display.

>OLED can replicate like a trillion colors
Useless when most content is still sRGB
>b-b-b-but I like it when sRGB gamut is stretched to the full screen gamut looking like unicorn vomit
Ok, kid
>>
>>100164335
I have a gamut right here
*unzips dick*
>>
Infinite contrast ratio
No input lag or ghosting every pixel shifts 10x faster than LCD
Millions of dimming zones instead of only hundreds
Going back to IPS or VA is like going back to the stone age
>>

what about micro led?

Even if 10-bit HDR content only makes up like 1% of all media in the world right now it's absolutely fucking worth it. Sometimes I want to break down in tears and how fucking beautiful it looks. VR advancements kind of scares me a little, we're not that far away from emmissive displays replicating reality so well that people starve to death in them.

Not a tranny btw, my cock and balls are still intact but fuck me the 10-bit HDR experience is something else man. It's like we're climbing the uncanny valley...
>>
>>100164163
If you want to deal with burn-in and screen degradation.
>>
>>100164533
Hey idiot, all panels have screen degredation.
>>
>>100164591
can confirm. even my ips had (temporary) burn ins after 7 years
>>
>>100164388
lmao
>>
OLED has too many compromises for anything that isn't just displaying videos.
Personally, I'm waiting for true next generation display technology, microLED.

>Can't tell the difference between washed out IPS dogshit and inky OLED goodness
Top lmao
