>modular power supply cables are still not standardized so swapping cables still makes your power supply implodewhy?
Because you touch yourself at night.
>>100165668>power supplydeprecatedin 2024 we should have a laptop style brick and nothing more
>>100165668fun
>>100165668
>>100165668so you only buy one brand>>100166258that's still a power supply it's just external and therefore messiertheres nonreason for an intrrnal PSU to be that big, you can get 1200w SFX or FLX graphite PSUs that are smaller than many laptop power bricks, they are only so big to reduce cost and maintain compatability
>>100166319>a brick is messy>pic related not messy
>>100166258>laptop style brickdeprecated, GaN chargers can give 200W+ now despite being small
>>100165668Capitalism.
>>100166871Proofs?
>>100165668Fried one of my hard drive because of this, cable from a different PSU got mixed in the box cause I'm retarded. Luckily I bought an identical one from Best buy and then just returned the fucked one
ATX12VO
>>100167322Pic related is 500 watts. You can use the ATX connectors on it for scale.
>>100166817picrel is not messybesides, it's inside the computer - i don't have to see it
>>100167419good goy
>>100167528What's with the fan on the back?
>>100168614cools the back of the CPU and VRMs, otherwise theres no real heat dissapation happening there as the air in thr back of the case reaches equillibrium and isn't moved away
>>100168637At what point do you even need this? 24 hour renders?
>>100168661at what point do you need case fans? the fan on the CPU cooler should be enough for average usethis is a stupid question
>>100168614it represents the current state of intel cpus
I sure am glad I never had an issue, I used nonstandard cables for years. I'd be fuming if my desktop got fried.
>>100169005I hope this is bait
>>100165668>Bought a PSU with the intention of making my own cables for a non-PC project, since I wanted to move away from janky chinkbricks>Manual has the pinout nicely specified so it would be difficult to fuck up>The fucking mini fit Jr.-like connectors that they use have non-standard keying so some of my connectors just don't workAny advice on how to find a specific permutation of these 4.2 pitch connectors?
>>100170251Buy replacement cables (or just use the ones that came with it), cut off the other ends and replace them with whatever ends you want.
>>100166319>so you only buy one brandThey’re often different even within the same manufacturer. I think they do it because they’re assholes.
>>100166319In biggies you can also put larger fan. Although it should not spin up a lot and my sfx one is also quite.
>>100170326oy vey buy a new PSU goy, you can't reuse the cables goy buy new fancy sleeved cables too goyhaving interoperability between even your own products is a bad thing if you want to keep making money. notice how smartphones are ever so slightly different every year? buy a new case and screen protector goy. repair shops buy entirely new parts inventory goys.
>>100165668google pinouts and rewire a cable yourself
>>100166318There already is a mostly agreed on standard for the things that all these cables connect to, just use that.>>100170271Guess I'll have to do that.
>>100172137The real answer is that no one has an incentive to put in the effort and investment to develop a standard and get everyone on board with it. Realistically, the only people who stand to save money are manufacturers of third party cables or custom cables and companies who sell pre-builts with off the shelf parts, both of which move enough product that it doesn't matter much anyway. It might save a small percentage of customers some headache, but there's no money in it.
>>100166817>big ATX cable, never not required>let's replace the compact round bunch with a fat rectangular plug>this is "le good"
>>100167528No one has a computer that looks like that, it is absolutely messy in 99.9999% of cases
>>100166258We should go back to linear power supplies with huge "computer grade" blue capacitors.
>>100175136solution: close back panelmess defeated
>>100169067idk man my cpu pulls 650W that's uh, a lotstill prefer it over gamer junk tho
>>100166258>we should havewe do have. what's stopping you? i did an ITX build powered by a "laptop brick" like a decade ago, it's been on ever since
