Why are browsers so bloated? Why are websites so bloated? Watching youtube is a drag. Why do we need 10 different javascript frameworks to deliver a 1080p video?

It seems like 12GB of RAM is barely enough to browse the web these days.
>>
>>100177820
you are just getting old grandpa. 16gb of ram is the norm and its easy to get for under 50 bucks. quit being a cheapskate ya old bastard
>>
>>100177820
Forced obsoletion.
>>
64 bits takes twice as much as 32
>>
>>100177820
Users need a reason to upgrade hardware and corporations create that reason. All part of "planned obsolesce" scheme.
>>
>>100177852
>>100177969

Yeah, well. Fuck them. They'll end up alienating everyone except corporate drones
>>
>>100177852
This.
>>
>>100177820
Soiydev javascript libraries. I block all third party javascript by default and if I have to unblock more than 2 or 3 domains to make it usable then I just use another site. umatrix is good for this. It can also save your settings per site.

If your webpage is blank without js then that's a skip for me.
>>

>Why are browsers so bloated?
HTTP's a moderately complicated protocol.
HTML isn't exactly the simplest to parse.
CSS is bloatedly complex.
JS... holy fuck that's the worst part, and all the ad delivery stuff is the worst of the worst. Literal cancer.
>>
>>100179120
but, how will you center a div without 2 CSS libraries and 3 JS frameworks??????

>>100178504
umatrix is deprecated. Use UblockOrigin advanced mode instead
>>
>>100179192
>umatrix is deprecated. Use UblockOrigin advanced mode instead
>this meme again
YAWN
>>
>>100179211
The developer himself said it's no longer in development or supported, and archived it. Just move on and use uBO like everyone else, nostalgia faggotry is a weakness. Rid yourself of it.
>>
>>100179211
nigga tf you mean "meme". It no longer gets updates. Move on
>>
>>100179120
Sounds like we need a complete rework from the ground up.
>>
>>100177820
>post complaining about browser
>task manager screenshot not showing the full list of processes spawned btly the browser
Why is it always like this?
>>
>>100179829
Huh? It's a bunch of Firefox's own processes.
>>
>>100179853
>nooo browsers are incredibly bloated look at this memory consumption!!!
>may we see what was actually open in the browser?
>no

Speaking of, windows also uses a bunch of ram to no discernible benefit of mine.
>>
>>100179932
Lots of tabs open, its "normal" consumption.
As anon said >>100179120 this.
I recommend "Marvellous suspender" extenesion that automagically puts tabs to sleep.
>>
>>100177820
No need to optimize = no one cares to optimize
As soon as it works people stop caring
>>
>>100179970
>Lots of tabs open, its "normal" consumption.
It's normal as in "it's been normalized" because the web is bloated. It's not normal in the sense that optimization is thrown out the window.
>>
>>100177969
Developers need a reason to stay employed and code bloat create that reason. All part of the "trannies4code" scheme.
>>
>>100179120
>HTTP's a moderately complicated protocol.
Are... are you serious? You think that parsing HTTP (be it 1 2 3) has any incidence on bloat at all?
>>
>>100179988
That's why I put "normal" in quotation marks
>>
web browsers are now mini-operating systems
>>
>>100177852
That' not what that means, young redditor.
>>
>>100177820
Does Firefox have a memory saver option like Chromium-based browsers?
>>
>>100177820
Google pushes this bloated non-standard web so that anyone without their huge budgets will be unable to create a new browser engine.
>>
The web app bubble will burst once you can't even open 10 tabs with 128GiBs of RAM. Desktop App Developers will rise in popularity when people realize you can run native apps using just KiBs of RAM per app.
>>
>>100180083
yes
>>
>>100177820
Because web devs literally import a framework to tell if a number is odd or even.
>>
>>100180083
A full HTTP implementation? That's getting to be a complex protocol with all the bits and pieces of extensions. There are much simpler protocols. I've read the source to actual implementations of this stuff. 1.0 was simple enough, but we aren't in that world any more.
But the bigger problems happen with parsing the results of the fetches and displaying them.
>>
UNUSED RAM IS WASTED RAM
>>
>>100177820
It will never make sense to me. Any PC can run Crysis now but a simple web page will force it to its knees
>>
>>100177820
5-10 years ago you'd have total agreement on here. The webshits have truly taken over.
>>
>>100177820
I do fine with 8GBs
>>
>>100181184
No excuse for unoptimized shit.
>>
>>100177820
>It seems like 12GB of RAM is barely enough to browse the web these days.
What are you talking about? I have an old thinkpad that I use as a fap station machine with only 4gb of ram and it's more than capable enough for 1080p youtube videos and runs literally every website.

>39 tabs
>durr why do modern browsers take up so much ram hurr
lol, wait you're actually retarded never mind.
>>
>>100177820
>can't watch jewtube in W10 with 4GB RAM
skill issues all around, sweetie, go learn to use and optimize your OS, it's not hard, it's not like mcIntrash bs or loonix lunacy
>>
>>100181184
your unused life is a wasted life, go try some /g/-related activities like learning your OS or setting up an ad-hoc network with a few machines or something
>>
>>100183404
>39 tabs
>durr why do modern browsers take up so much ram hurr
>lol, wait you're actually retarded never mind.
this, OP is a faggot
>>
people are only responsible when forced to be, otherwise they just follow the path of least resistance
in this case it means there's no incentive to save resources and optimize
it will simply continue this trend endlessly as long as hardware improves and remains widely available
>>
>>100177820
Because people in general are fucking retarded
>>
>>100179120
>css
>complex

Ok IQlet
>>
>>100178009
totally not what they're anticipating
>oh no, the people who pirate data and actively work against our corporate goals are no longer engaging with our product! whatever shall we do?
