SIM cards are fucking retarded, its a piece of chip containing a tiny amount of data necessary to register the phone on the network, it was already redundant 20 years ago (CDMA doesn't use it), only reason it was kept til today was for backward compatibility. On my carrier swapping to eSIM is just a matter of logging into the carrier's app and downloading the eSIM profile onto the phone, takes 30s. Its even better for traveling, as you can download a eSIM profile for the country you're traveling to and top up before you leave, and it takes a few second to swap over once you land.
