Yes, he kept insisting that I didn't know what I was doing and didn't understand what polkit did because I ran a system without it. Neither disappointing nor surprising
>>

Yeah, all these code of conduct wankers have twitter and forum posts where they are unreasonably aggressive.
They were also immediately able to dig up dirt on Twitter on the people that banned the Hyprland dev for not running his own discord in accordance to the Freedesktop code of conduct which they then promptly deleted.

Ehmke is the worst one of all who's basically the primordial engineer of Code of Conduct as a conduct and constantly insults people on Twitter over minor things.

Because he's clearly deeply insulted that someone would want to run a system without Polkit.
It's just bizarre how personally he takes it. If you ever talk with Freedesktop devs it becomes clear they really, really do not like it when someone doesn't use their technologies. Most are considerably less angry about it but you can smell the contempt in the way they word things when they find out you're not using Freedesktop tech.
>>
>>100196449

Now, notice that ebassi has not been doing this kind of thing before he got married.

What I'm saying is that perhaps he is now wielding the weapon once wielded against him - accusations of inceldom

The GNOME Foundation, after years of running a deficit, is focusing on fundraising to sustain its operations. If you value open-source software and want to support GNOME, consider making a donation. Your contribution can help ensure the continued development of the GNOME desktop environment and associated projects. Every little bit counts!

Maybe if they implemented useful features in the base Gnome desktop, and not bitch at their users for requesting these simple additions, they would probably be fine. The fact they have to rely on extensions made by the community is dumber than shit because every major release, some always break. Also, they deserve to go under, since they outright refuse to put in an active app taskbar, and a dock without relying on a 3rd party extension.

I imagine that they were not admitting anything in that post. Rather they were using it for sympathy to fet more money and virtue signal. "We are just spending SOOO much money on our outreach program that we are in the red financial. Won't you give us more money because we are such good people:)" is what they were probably thinking. When anyone with a brain sees "We are spending money that you give us on wasteful endeavor and we want you to bail us out so we can keep doing so.". The idea of slashing the program either never occurred to them or was immediately shot down.

become a tranny prostitute and sell yourself in WEF meetings shilling your shaman shit and in a decade you will have sucked enough dicks to get a position. The younger you are the faster this goes.
>>
sorry but I will be donating to the xfce foundation with a note that I would like the funds to be spent on fixing screen tearing. I just don't want to donate to gnome :)

plasma 6 funding campaign results
~1000 people giving 100€/yr or more.
100.000€ at worst 200.000€ at best(a year)
not a lot of money if you want to hire software devs.

If they should seek to spend the money wisely rather than constantly expanding or else they might end up like gnome
>>
>>100199161
Yeah I thought it was typical too and never even considered the option of a shutdown button in some kind of start menu.

>>100199298
How can KDE force that? KDE can't stop anything.

At least, my system on shutdown sends TERM to all processes and gives the 5 seconds to close themselves, and then sends KILL to whatever is remaining, that's it.
>>
>>100200127
I know that money was used to move to a new build system and also fund a few KDE developers.
But we need to wait for the 2023 report to be sure.
>>
>>100200037
If they need to constantly spend money instantly, they should use the money to train a custom coding AI to help them
>>
>>100200248
maybe in a decade but all software dev AI right now is still substandard.
They could do it for translation though.
Microsoft does it for translation
>>
>>100200272
I was mainly thinking of something that could be used to funnel money and also potentially be useful. Training an AI seems perfect for that task
>>
>>100200291
you could do that or you could also pay some eastern europeans substandard wages.
>>
>>100189468
The entire desktop environment is trash, it doesn't have the customization level of plasma and it feels like a clunky version of IpadOS with the app selector of Android 1.5. Also the guy running the project is a bald ass Italian faggot that don't even listen to complaints or new feature requests, it took 30 years until some rando /g/fag implemented thumbnails in the filepicker. Absolute joke.

why the fuck i should donate to these fuckers? even budgie is better and doesn't have wayland compatibility yet.

>GNOME is going bankrupt
What they are not telling you now is that donating to the "GNOME Foundation" does NOT mean you are donating to GNOME. The money won't go to the developers of the desktop environment in any way, it will go to people like this >>100189615.
>>
>>100191134
40K a year from interest yields alone is not "fuck all". It might be fuck all if you are subhuman cattle who thinks buying an overpriced house in the suburbs of a big US city is a god-given right.

The shut down button doesn't even work for me 90% of the time in GNOME. It only works after the second attempt.

What's the use case for donations?
Can donations be made for a specific bug or feature?
Can I donate to gnome for thjem to include "use case" and similar expressions in their coc as hate speech or racism?
>>
>>100201265
All the people at KDE uses Plasma, no one that works on Gnome uses Gnome, weird how that works right?

That was George Stavracas who is a Brazilian open source programmer that streams once a blue moon. He was part of Gnome but left in favor of another open source organization. He is still a contributor to a handful of projects. He is pretty much one of the few sane and competent Gnome devs. There was a guy that also made a working solution before him (https://github.com/Dudemanguy/gtk) but ebussy doesn't accept opinions outside his circle and overcomplicates solutions (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/233#note_1106706).

I would donate for gnome to be liquidated, bankrupt and funding a class action lawsuit against gnome, systemd, pulseaudio and wayland for ruining gnu/linux on purpose from within.

That screenshot isn't from GNOME foundation, it's from a phoronix article: https://www.phoronix.com/news/MTY2Mjc
However the phoronix article cites GNOME foundation saying basically the same thing: https://wiki.gnome.org/FoundationBoard/CurrentBudgetFAQ
>The GNOME Foundation had a temporary lack of reserves due to processing the funds for the Outreach Program for Women (OPW).

I've worked at companies where the policy was to fully shut down your workstation at the end of every day. Ostensibly for "security and environmental" reasons. Now that might be a stupid policy, but as an employee it wasn't my policy to decide but nevertheless my job to follow.
>hurr why do you want to shut down your computer? t. ebussy

>If they need to constantly spend money instantly, they should use the money to train a custom coding AI to help them
That would very rapidly be money wasted. Think about it, if they do that next year instead of now, they could get far better results for the same amount of money.
