This company didn't fail, it was killed on purpose by wallstreet and hollywood. Having physical media perpetuated hardware that could crack and copy their movies and music in high quality. That's why now you rent all of your media and if you want to download and pirate it, enjoy your low quality compressed screenrecorded movie. Mission accomplished.
>>
>>100191215
can you buy a gumball with your "streaming service"?
>>
>>100195258
Blockbuster never had original camera quality though, they rented out DVDs, CDs and VHS tapes. Streams often send you high quality 4k stuff that's only slightly below blu ray which if you record you could easily go post on a torrent or usenet. I don't understand your point. If you mean they killed it so that you could only see movies in theaters, then I don't think there were a ton of concurrently released films at blockbuster back then, that began with streaming.

THE BLOCK BUSTER GUMBALL MACHINE NEVER EXISTED. YOU ARE UNDER THE MANDELA AFFECT.

WAKE UP

Yeah we rented shit in our household quite often when I was a kid but also had a large collection of VHS tapes, video games, and other physical media like music CDs. The rental stores only had a small selection that they were always updating, old going out for the new. If you liked things you bought them. I also recorded things off TV to save them too.
>>
>>100191342
You can record streams too
It's exactly the same thing but you still cry about one and support the other

I went to a movie gallery once. My family just never liked renting.

it is different because it's voluntary and there are alternatives which include ownership. the whole point of the wef gay agenda is that you do not get a choice. They want to turn you into neo-dystopian peasents who are forced to rent everything for the rest of your short, miserable life.

Streaming is still infinitely cheaper tho
>>
>>100191215
Rental stores didn't cause the halt of physical sales.
>>
>>100195438
They were starting to put out those dvd machines.
>>
>>100191342
I made copies of every single PS1 game I rented, and ripped every single DVD.
>>
>>100197824
Peak Netflix was in the transition period into streaming when they had every fucking thing on one service and even if they didn't they definitely had it on disk and you could get it in 2 days. Typing this out now sounds insane though, didn't I have torrents? Why did I ever care about the dvds by mail?
>>
>>100199121
It sucks that these places shut down right about the time softmods started becoming accessible on the first xbox. I wouldn't have access to boot discs for the psone until the 2008 crash.
>>
>>100191215
the Ukrainian movie store was very good I remember watching the rented pornos my single father hid behind the TV like I didn't know lol
>>
>>100199121
This, but for PS2. PS3 blurays killed disc based piracy forever.
>>
It's not just the renting, it's about being able to get snacks as well. Also being able to discuss possible movies with other people in the store. Also games. I didn't have blockbuster in my town growing up, I had a competitor known as Choices and a locally owned one known as VideoWest. Couldn't rent South Park videos because of the BBFC rating them 15 and I was 12 at the the time, so mostly just rented N64 and Megadrive games.
>>
>>100195258
>in high quality
so the DVD killed hollywood huh?
