People don't care about the reason they only care they're getting a worse experience ootb. When gpu-next becomes default you shouldn't have to mess with the config just to get colors that don't look like shit.

>>
>>100195131
Actually, I remembered this wrong. It looked different for me because I already had a non-default target-trc set in config (gamma2.2). It's because of that that I had to lower gamma.
Colors look washed on my display with the default target-trc even with vo=gpu, which is why I had the default changed in the first place.

>border size 2
too thick (no pun intended) my autism prevents me from using anything other than a 10:1 size to border ratio desu

the stats screen follows the same philosophy by default, where the font is 8 and 0.8 border size. the only way to make the OSD follow the same theming of the stats screen would be to use something like 20 font size and 2 border size.
>>
>>100215840
yes, ideally wanted something between 1 and 2 but erred on the side of thickness so it wouldn't blend in with video
but for some reason i didn't think it would accept floats kek, so i'm using 1.6 now. thanks

Got a weird situation here with MPV on Windows 10. I bought an AOC Q27G3XMN a couple months back and haven't really watched anything on it, just been gaming and browsing and the like, but after watching some movies on MPV I noticed that while in windowed mode the screen will constantly, lightly flicker. At first I thought it had something to do with the dimming zones so I shut those off, but it persists. I turned off every goofy monitor setting, still flickers. I figured something about the monitor was fucked, but playing stuff fullscreen doesn't cause a flicker at all.
Yesterday I used VLC to make some video playlists, and there's no flicker at all in windowed mode. I've got no fucking clue what the deal is, this is the first VA/Mini-LED monitor I've ever had and I love everything about it, great response times good color good brightness etc but this flickering is an anomaly.

Hey, that solved it. I thought I tried turning off all the goofy gamer shit but I missed that one. I'm still getting some sort of light bleed shooting off of one of the corners of the MPV window but it's happening with VLC too, so I'm guessing the monitor is just a POS. It's fine in fullscreen though, and I like everything else about it.
Thanks again.

your glsl-shader calls overwrite themselves
what you want is
glsl-shaders="~~/shaders/FSRCNNX_x2_8-0-4-1.glsl;~~/shaders/CfL_Prediction_Lite.glsl"

obv substitute whatever individual shaders you want, but do them in the same line like that

just use the defaults. display-resample is only useful if you're using interpolation for 3:2 pulldown. but even then, it mangles audio
>>
>>100224229
>interpolation for 3:2 pulldown
Not entirely true, I use mpv on my HTPC connected to a 24Hz TV while playing 24fps movies, how the manual recommends:
If you use this option, you usually want to set it to display-resample to enable a timing mode that tries to not skip or repeat frames when for example playing 24fps video on a 24Hz screen.
>>
>>100224308
if you have an actual HTPC setup then you want bit-perfect audio passthrough, and display-resample will completely mangle that. even then, the only reason why it's "recommended" is because your GPU has an imperfect pixel clock, meaning that you won't ever get perfect 24000/1001 playback without resampling the video speed, unless you love extremely noticeable (41.7 ms) frame skips. a 5:5 pulldown is less headache inducing because of this.
>>
>>100224369
My TV accepts both 23.98 and 24Hz without any special config on the nvidia control panel side.

And don't be so autistic, any audio distortions display-resample could introduce to the sound will be a thousand times less disruptive and noticeable than the visual distortions without it.

I like my judder free visuals.
>>
>>100224437
you don't understand, bit-perfect audio passthrough is literally impossible on display-resample, you have to use a different vsync mode. you cant just cope by acting like you can't "notice" it. its literally just wont play.

you can have no visual distortions AND no audio mangling, its called using 5:5 pulldown with no resampling. if you did have a visual issue somehow, it would only be for 8.3 ms as opposed to 41.7 ms.
>>
>>100224491
>its called using 5:5 pulldown
My TV doesn't support 120Hz inputs, so then now what? According to RTINGs my TV is judder-free at 23.98 and 24Hz.
>>
>>100224574
if my tv didn't support 120hz i would unironically rope myself
>>
>>100224491
You lose nothing just doing multi-channel PCM. Bit perfect is a meme and is only needed for set top boxes that can't decode locally.
>>
>>100224636
>Bit perfect is a meme
...
>>
>>100224674
Did I stutter? They're both lossless. You're just comparing the AVR/TV decoding vs ffmpeg decoding.
>>
>This looks beyond my skill set so I'll throw it back to the devs who do know C, you talked about someone with interest, i think we need to find the interest given the number of people around the net asking for this and the vast number of other projects that have done this successfully, audio is just as important to the experience but reading through historical posts it has been overlooked from day 1 and seen as a side product to the video and daunting as it maybe, it could be time for a full rethink based on functionality not simplicity to code and a complete rewrite from the ground up, especially given the mess a few weeks ago with broken spdif.

>A search in issues yields 109 results for dual audio, google throws up huge threads devoted to the subject, it's not a non issue or low priority for the users.

>we only have to go a couple of pages into issues to find others asking, please and when, few deeper and even more people asking, visit reddit and av forums people crying for the feature, it's been going on for years, how about some focus to get it implemented instead of shying away from the task. It's about time a little project management was brough into play, various aspects of mpv are in a disastrous health, with multiple devs remixing each others code, nobody quite understanding what state something is in, we often see 'code not updated since xyz date' how about assigning single devs to single tasks, not just what they are interested in but working through the huge list of meta-requests this is one of the oldest meta requests out there and since day 1 it's been rejected due to complexity whist competitor devs got their heads down, solved the problem and released code years ago.

>All these comments of 'find a dev who's interested' 'under estimate the complexity' all seem like nobody is interested in the challenge of either fixing issues or meta requests if they don't involve video.

Does anyone here develop mpv scripts? I have a request... or at least a protip on how to implement it.

The idea is this: now that most YT videos have transcripts or subtitles, I'd like to download a transcript of every video I watch. This way, if you want to recall something you've watched and don't remember where you saw it, you could just grep all files for some word/phrase.

Does something like htis exist? If not, is there some script that does something similar and I could rewrite it? Thx.

>rcombs planning to fuck up libass as well
https://github.com/libass/libass/pull/636

This is just unnecessary complexity. Stop trying to use a subtitle format to do vfx and it's a non-issue. If this gets merged the fansubbing cartel (of which rcombs is part of) is going to spit out garbage even worse than mtbb's current stuff, to the point where you'll need a workstation just to be able to watch anime without dropping frames.
>>
>>100229755
>to the point where you'll need a workstation just to be able to watch anime without dropping frames.
this is already the current status quo. the point of the PR is to alleviate that
>>
>>100229794
>current status quo
Only for retarded cartel like mtbb. Sane people don't abuse subs for vfx because they realize that it will lead to dropped frames.
>>
>>100229828
most vfx shit barely causes anything, libass isn't THAT slow. there's plenty of meme subs with moving vfx that run on a pentium 4

most libass bottlenecks are caused by large sub effects, for example if you overlay a gradient effect that covers the entire screen. this becomes worse as the resolution of your display increases, since sub effects are dependent on output resolution.

you don't need an mpv script for that, just some alias to pipe yt-dlp into mpv while saving subs into a folder
