Why cant Apple into UI?
>>

Aren't those CSDs? Are we pretending other operating systems don't have those?

macOS has its shortcomings, but the UI is very polished in my opinion.

>>
>>100197991
it's a common disease with both windows and linux
they have allowed apps to start drawing their own custom shit in the title bar, which means everything is hopelessly inconsistent now
>>
>>100199873
er windows and mac
no idea if linux has this
but I wouldn't doubt it at this point
>>
>>100199879
There are on linux, Steam most notably
But I would have to take a look for precise examples.
There is the trick of tilling window managers, removing said bar, but the windows itself are still looking inconsistent. Thats why you see in those ricing screenshots allways the same few apps, because the rest looks all over the place.
>>
>>100197991
What's so wrong about being different?
>>
>>100198072
Polished in terms of aesthetics, yeah. Not usability though. It's form over function.
>>
RIP clean uniform aesthetics

I actually like GUI programs having their own unique style rather than being forced to mimic their host environment, it makes them easier to differentiate at a glance. I thought /g/ hates GNOME for forcing their HIG on GTK apps that they don't own?

It's worse on Windows, using custom decorations is not only normal but encouraged.
>>
>>100198061
Client-side decorations are an abomination unto the eyes of the Lord thy God, and should never be allowed.

You just don't know how to use it. I will admit it's designed for trackpads, but if you have one, it's really nice using combinations of tiling and different desktops

That's because GNOME's HIG is ugly.

but in your pic they are all 1st party apps, it makes sense they are uniform. funny that Microsoft's apps always looked better on macOS because they have to obey Apple's UI rules. Actually Microsoft is the one who can't into UI

That's third party. It's pretty good for what it is, really. Devs give more of a shit about things for gayOS.
With that said as far as I heard Apple has lost it much like MS and I expect newer releases to get buggier and less consistent. It's already happening. Besides these retards can't make fucking subpixel font rendering that works for years lmao.
>>100201551
All the Linux DEs have top-tier consistency among first party programs. This is no surprise. No guhnome shit actually works though.
Dolphin, Ark, Konsole, Kate, Gwenview, Okular and Haruna, all look very consistent as well.
>>100201593
Explorer was always been more usable than gayOS finder though. What a pile of faggot shit.

You're not going to get through to him, anon. macOS praise will never get (You)s, so /g/ will continue to wax lyrical about tiling window managers and furiously masturbate over broken pieces of shit they've never had the displeasure of using full time like Windows 95. My head canon is that because macOS is so smoothed over, no one on /g/ wants to use it because there's no imaginary work to do on it. The most leet thing you can do on macOS is change the background picture for Finder, otherwise it's very stripped down and designed to actually do shit. All the while they preach about minimalism to remove distractions. I guess what that really means is removing the distraction of doing something productive and fucking with the font rendering for a solid hour. They'll never show you all the inconsistencies in their shitty i3 rice like they do for macOS.
>>
>>100197991
>>100203026
>third party
This. Apple has no control over the code monkeys at Discord and their inability to center the traffic lights to be in-line with the rest of macOS. I will say for iOS they are quite anal about app bounding boxes and design elements and will tell you how to make your icon look good:
https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2017/822
https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/app-icons
But alas, this is a shitty bait thread to shit on macOS anyway.
>>
>>100197991
Why do they love grey icons on black and grey text on white
Why do they hate contrast and readability?

If your shitty monitor cannot correctly display colors or your shitty eyes do not notice subtle color differences you can increase the contrast in:

System Settings -> Accessibility -> Display -> Increase contrast

There you go m8

>>100202630
I remember reading some article by a guy who used to work there or something - their search algorithm is heavily flawed and has been for decades. There was never a need to fix it back in the day because file directories were usually quite small. I can't remember exactly what it was but he compared it to a painter painting lines along the road and instead of taking his bucket with him he had to walk back and forth each time to put paint back on his brush
>>

I’m a macOS user at a bank, and it’s pretty rough, wish I could use Linux.
