the first distro i installed was gentoo
unless you want lvm, encryption, or some unusual setup, Slackware installation is mostly pressing Enter in the installer

how the fuck do you give it away if you're burning it?

It has begun to be quite a few... I wonder if they will become anything. Maybe the next big website like Facebook.

This is actually a hilarious idea and I will try doing it sometime

setting up lvm+luks is straightforward for me with these guides
https://blog.edie.io/2019/06/16/slackware-lvm-over-luks/
https://blog.aktsbot.in/slackware-install-lvm-luks.html
skipping lilo/elilo and using grub was tedious to do
>>
that's piracy

Who the fuck has an external optical drive? For what purpose? I haven't seen one of them in like 15 years.
>>
>>101095936
if that's your solution, just putting the distro on usb storage in the first place would be way cheaper
>>
>>101095948
>Who the fuck has an external optical drive?
literally millions of people
>For what purpose?
installing Slackware from DVD
>I haven't seen one of them in like 15 years.
you haven't seen a pussy in 15 years (i.e. at your birth), but that doesn't mean nobody has one
>>
>>101095976

I literally just licked my wife's. Cope.

i don't need a solution, because i don't have a problem
try to understand what's happening here
>>
>>101095976
Millions of people have a fetish for eating shit but that doesn't make it a solid recommendation on sheer numbers alone. I could give a fuck what the BRs and chinks are doing in their third world computing scenarios. There's no reason to have optical drives in TYOOL 2024 in the West.
>>
>>101096004
>doesn't make it a solid recommendation
nobody's making a recommendation
the question was asked
>Who the fuck has an external optical drive?
the answer is millions of people; these drives are still mass manufactured and sold new, refurbished, and used on major websites and in retail stores
i wouldn't recommend someone buy one or not buy one, because i don't give a fuck
learn to follow a simple conversation, dimwit
>>
>>101094859
LMAO, 99% of those would get thrown away, especially since almost no one has optical drives anymore
>>
>>101094859
How many people use optical drives in 2024? I don't even have a PC that has an optical drive in it.
>>
>>101096233
No, 100% will get thrown away.
>>

I remember when you could buy Linux as a boxed retail product. Got Mandrake and SuSE that way. Also Books and Magazines used to come with Linux cds.

Make a drone that delivers a solar powered RasPi running ipxe that will install Linux on any computer that is netbooted. Drop of those solar powered RasPi's at every coffee shop. Someone is bound to network boot by mistake. Dont add a menu or delay, just instantly install Linux.
>>
>>101094859
>>101095303
Thats cool! Are you burning any other distros besides slackware?
>>
>>101094859
This is fucking stupid

You shouldn't be teaching people to trust software from random CDs. You should teach people the opposite: that they shouldn't trust random CDs that could contain malware.

Also teach people to download Linux from reputable sources (e.g. the official websites of distros). If they don't have an internet connection in 2024 then, well, they're never going to do anything interesting with their computer anyway, so who cares what OS they use.

>THERES NO REASON TO OPEN BOOKS GOY. YOU CAN GET ALL THE MEDIA YOU NEED FROM THE CLOUD.

seriously, kill yourself. people like you, you are a danger to society. there is absolutely nothing wrong with having various drives or utilizing old storage containers.
>>
>>101095081
any linux installation, aside from the newbie friendly GUI installers, are just copying and pasting commands from a wiki anyway. You're no smarter than the average person.

Used to share burn and share CDs with a friend, but didn't often decorate them fully with marker, just a little flair.
He's dead now and I've lost any of the CDs we had.

>>101099294

>>101099737
I am not "teaching" people to do anything. They either know how to use these or they don't.
>>101100208
Based.
>>101100229
I just gave 12 disks to my friend in a cybsec program!

Anyways, I am partly thinking this may create a market for sysadmin. If people end up running and installing this, they may need to ask me for help, and I could charge! Also, the disks are just the stock iso and people may check the image hash to see that it matches if they would like to.
