The internet has migrated to just a few large websites, so search engines aren't needed, but nobody types the url directly into the address bar despite the fact that there's only 5 or 6 websites, they just use google, so google therefore is not intended to return useful results. You get reddit results which contain the information you need, and then everything else is ads.
