c0 Elf POS anon and zero:red owner here and finally got the gato in! I gotta do more tests but right off the bat, for the what, $17 bucks I paid for including tax? Maybe if you have severe ear canal changes from me you might find something to complain about but for my preferences and anatomy? I would be fucking daft to find something to really *complain* about. They're more than fine for the price I paid, overall very balanced sound no real significant issues with timbre or resolution.I'll give an update after more testing but honestly? They're fine, good even. They're 19$ max what do you expect? Switching back and forth between my HD6XX there's some minor differences, the "harman" 5khz bump might lead to more details I guess. >>101121301Assuming you have a phone with USB-C, you can get an affordable dongle DAC like Moondrop Dawn Pro, or a more premium one like Shanling Onix Alpha XI1 which can serve as a source for your phone / PC. Then there are a variety of solid IEMs from $30-$150, like Celest Wyvern Abyss, EPZ Q1 Pro, Kefine Delci, or Simgot Supermix4. All vary slightly in their sound, and it ultimately rests on you to judge them as more or less favorable. You should begin your journey learning and understanding frequency response graphs to better narrow down the ideal gear for you. If you don't want a dongle DAC, then players are fine, but most have a few quirks / compromises. Shanling M0 Pro is fine for a simple tiny player, but iirc it lacks play/pause/skip buttons which are often sought out when people buy PMPs.

>>101127610i eq so this is not a problem i'll probably get the zero2 but if it arrives and it's uncomfortalbe i will melt
>>101127548>What did you not like about them?other than general pointless bulkiness, the sound is noticeably worse in basically all ranges, compared to my old Sennheisers. the difference is night and day, so it's not worth skimping those $10. weeb branding doesn't help, but I guess most people around here are into that, so whatever.
>>101127174Only someone that never uses IEMs thinks bullet styles are more comfortable. Why are you making shit up?
>>101127687why the fuck would I want that additional weight in my ears when they sound worse? I could understand if it came with improvement in sound quality, but it's all-around downgrade.
>>101127702Because you've never worn them and are making shit up.
Also does the Stellaris require amplification? I know planar headphones typically do, but I've never owned Planar IEMs.
>>101127747There's no such thing as "requires amplification". Plug the numbers here and see how much power you needhttps://www.headphonesty.com/headphone-power-calculator/
Recently got a pair of inzone buds and while they are perfect for my use, the stock tips are way too deep and make them sit awkward in my ears. The buying guide gives some tips for tips, but are there any particularly shallow tips out there? nozzle diam is 4mm
>>101127710
>>101127702>why the fuck would I want that additional weight in my ears when they sound worse?okay I'm inclined to believe the other anon is correct & you've never worn them nowI've only used other dogshit in ears, but when it comes to in ears that have the loop that goes over your ear you barely noticed the weight. The only things I noticed of the two I've used is the nozzle & maybe the body if it's too big and presses against parts of your ear.>>101127676>other than general pointless bulkinessthey're not that bulky compared to other IEMs
>>101127759Seems like they'd be fine according to that. I want to use them on my Switch and PC so I was just checking.
>>101127767Kinda based, typical IEM shell shape doesn't really make much sense if you do not have a CIEM.
do tangzu sancai tips actually reduce pressure or is it a scam
>>101127855Yes they do
>>101127833Cable over ear reduces the noise from the cable, reduce the weight that's hanging from the ear canal and make the IEMs less likely to slide out of the ear canal.
>>101127790>you've never worn them nowwell, not gonna anymore >>101127767>they're not that bulky compared to other IEMsI don't like unnecessary bulkiness, but I wouldn't mind it if there was sound quality improvement behind it. I can imagine someone actually liking more crap in their ear, it's probably subjective, but this is overall downgrade to me.
why aren't you injecting hyaluronic acid into your ear canals to resculpt them and improve femtodynamics by minimizing seventh order reflections?
>>101127855They basically provide a controlled leak. The pressure is reduced but the bass is reduced as well. Don't use unvented pos, simple.
>>101127867>Cable over ear reduces the noise from the cableyou can't possibly believe this, right?

One more question about the Stellaris, how are the tips that come with them? I have some spinfits I can use if they aren't good.
>>101128431iem sq is superior to live instruments because when live listening, you get comb filtering from your own hrtf distorting the sound from what the musicians intended you to hear. in fact i started using hearing aids paired to a hat-mounted studio microphone to make sure my hrtf isn't spoiling the quality of sounds i'm hearing around me and my harman 2019 tuned medical grade pos has a timbre profile more preferable to reality by 60% of listeners anyway

>>101128747so you bought a shitty IEM that NEEDS an EQ because without it it sounds like shit just because you want to try out planar? you could've just gone to a headphone shop and demoed some planar pos
>>101128741I thought I was insane or retarded or both but after experimenting with 78364785 different HRIRs and even trying to generate my own based on w/e, I was getting better spatialization and more acceptable coloration artifacts out of KU100. >>101128985All the IEMs in the rentry are considered "good"
>>101128943If polarity matters, why do $5k preamps invert polarity, why do sound engineers flip polarity on individual tracks however they see fit, and why can't anyone tell the difference in ABX tests unless you're listening to pure sawtooth waves?

I use v-moda m100s, does anyone know if the v-moda m100 master is close enough to it as you can no longer get the m100s? Are there any headphones similar to v-moda m100 in terms of sound quality?
>>101129409EQ down the bloat and it's literally endgame
hexa is fine thoughdon't get influenced by some biased schizo with 0 iemshe was having the same meltdown during moondrop's prime, prior to truthear snatching the throne
>>101129495They are fine, but fine isn't good enough for 80 bucks. And the nozzle size and overall shell shape will be a problem for a lot of people.
I remember reading a post a long time ago from someone saying that it's stupid to spend so much money on IEMs since they all have tiny drivers anywayAny truth to that?
>>101129710you don't need to spend more than $20
No matter what gear people bring up, others will tell you it's a pos, hence the custom of calling every pos 'pos' in these threads. The hexapos consistently gets good reviews and there aren't many alternatives with that sound signature under $100 (but you'll EQ all of your shit to Harman anyway because a nobody on the internet told you to, so what does it matter, unless you're after 'deaf by 30' levels of bass which EQ will never give you without turning the overall sound into a swamp), but it became cool to hate them due to their popularity and because the hated fat gook e-celeb of the year gave them a stellar endorsement. It's either Moonpos leaving chips of paint in your ear canal (and some having inverted polarity anyway), black Truthpos having inverted rotational velocidensity and not conforming to the fan favorite v-shaped tuning with pronounced treble, red Truthpos being designed with alien ear canal anatomy in mind or Simpos having a bright presentation, overly so for some, and their nozzles breaking off, potentially inside your ears. They're all garbage, better add $10,000 to your budget and get artisanal ciems molded to your individual anatomy, or just live with the fact that all budget pos have some downsides and all products in general will have their critics, with different people weighting their price/performance differently.
>>101129751This. This hobby is ridiculous. After wankers, zero red, c0 and now gate? Bro they’re all POS and they all perform fantastic in their own right. Anything that even remotely approaches the SQ of the legendary HD6XX is good. These IEMs all have traits that outright beat that bastion of neutrality and timbre, and still compete in other ways.just shut up and listen to the damn music.
>>101129751tldrkys tyvanpos
>>101129751>The hexapos consistently gets good reviews and there aren't many alternatives with that sound signature under $100cca duo, but it got lost because tyvan tried to compare it to the truthear/crin zero red with the bassboost from the blue and people were flaming it because of their past scandals with revisions and such. cca duo is a solid option, and it's unfortunate that it got buried. yet despite costing 2x as much and having balanced armaturs, hexa still gets shilled to no end.
>>101129710It's stupid to spend a lot of money on IEMs because they have negative returns on investment. The more you spend the worse the distortion and the heavier the shells get. You might find some better fitting shells, because the comfort is not all about the weight, and you might find better stock tonality, but it will still need EQ, but the distortion pretty much universally goes up the more you spend. Audiophiles are fascinated by unusual lo-fi driver technologies.
>>101129844KZ gets lost for a good reason.
>>101129710It is dumb to spend a lot on 1DDsYou can get very good implemented 1DDs for less than 20 bucks (Hola)You only spend more on multi drivers, because they aren't as simple to properly implement as 1DDs, so naturally the decent options are going to be considerably more expensive
>>101129872>(Hola)I meant Gate lol, mixed the dead and the alive version
>>101129855I’ve never tried any super expensive POS but I know that there is only so much you can do with a baseline signal. Faithful reproduction is basically the best that can be achieved, anything “more” or “less” is just coloration. So I believe it. High end “endgame” POS is just a trade off. It’s engineering and compromising more distortion(usually not an issue) to mold differing frequency responses, usually to deviate in a large capacity from Harman or DF or whatever. As a stubborn Harman hater myself, ya that’s great but let’s not pretend that Sean Olive doesn’t have at least a tiny bit of credibility, even if he is a shitlib who took like 6 homos and had them listen for 2 minutes and ask “duurrrr does this sound good?!?!???”(no i’m not referring to the over ear research which was far more extensive)

>>101129960This is the earpussy dilator thread.
>>101129905When you get multidriver pos their graph changes from output impedance of the source and even from the volume itself. It's intentionally confusing to make you think graphs aren't everything. They are, you just need to measure with your ears.

40% of /iemg/ residents ended up here because of the beyer peak to iem pipeline. if you're immune to beyer acoustic torture, you can handle any iem (except the m6), and the pain of using 10lbs headpos with completely flattened pads made you immune to any discomfort iems can inflict on you, etymotic brain ticklers included.

Hexa is literally the safest IEM on a $100 budgetHell, I'd say it is even safer than Nova because it has a better design Anything above Hexa enters extreme diminishing returns, including the audiofool beloved Variations
i've seen the hexapos go for like $65 during ali sales. how low do simfaggots get? lm and 6l in particular.

Uh oh, hexashills in damage comtrol.
>>101130233Hexa, as well as any Truthear pos, has low quality control and low reliability. My Hexa got clogged nozzle filter after only 6 months of use. After filters replacement, that were redeemed on AliExpress, I couldn't restore the channel balance for all the frequencies. I've checked this with sine sweep. You have to buy at least 10 nozzle filters to find some match.

>>101129872It isn't some esoteric mystery you know. Only third worlders haven't tried these things for themselves. You can EQ the Hola how you like, you can EQ the LM how you like. The LM will end up with better bass texture, micro details, and spaciousness. There are better drivers. Everyone in first and second world countries has tried this for themselves.
