Hey y'all, small question, kinda want the opinion of people here.

I recently purchased a set of iems, pretty expensive ones too (>700 usd), and after maybe less than 10 uses the mesh filter came off while in my ear (thankfully still partially attached so it didn't come off in my ear).

Is this normal? The company when I reached out to them said it will only "improve sound quality" and is okay to have them off; which sounds like a total bunch of bullshit.

What do y'all think?
>>
>>101193603
if the front of your boeing falls off, it will only improve sound quality
>>
>>101193603

No, but weak adhesive on the edge surround is typically all that holds it on. Not insane for it to fall off eventually / if disrupted.
Like other anon replied, sometimes filters are simply to prevent debris from going deeper inside the IEM, having negligible impact on the sound. Other times, it is an integral tuning element which gives you the "stock" sound.
>said it will only "improve sound quality"
Yeah that is a BS response lol.

I'm upgrading from $150 dentpos to $50 pos. Somehow I find it hard to believe that budgetpos has gotten this good, but soon I'll see for myself. The dentpos scene is incredibly stagnant and the western 99% hearing loss tuning cartel is artificially inflating prices. I'm not giving the sonic jew any more of my money. Instead I choose to financially support the Chinese army to ensure total western destruction and complete chifi domination.

Truthear gate POS is very very good to my ears honestly. Slightly bright but controlled. The bass is insanely good. I’ve never tried expensive gear but I do have an HD650 and overall in terms of detail it’s no competition. The timbre is lighter and livelier which has its pros and cons but in some ways it sounds more “open” than the openbacks.
If there’s one category headPOS can never compete it’s in bass. single DD due to human anatomy if it’s tuned well like gate literally has the ideal Harman bass shelf. Actual bass presence is somewhere between 5128 and 711 measurements.

Music is typically produced with anechoically flat speakers in a room. The frequency response of such a speaker in this room is tilted downwards above 1 kHz and there is a bass-boost below 200 Hz. They do make the music sound good under these conditions. However, the strength of the tilt and the bass boost depends on the room. That means, if I use anechoically flat speakers inside my own room to listen to the music, it sounds off because my room (probably) sounds different than the producers room.

The influence of the room to the sound are flaws. In an ideal world, we would produce music on flat speakers in the free field without any room effects. And it would sound perfect if we also listened to music under these conditions. However, when listening to such music in a typical room, there should be too much bass and too little treble. We would have to EQ to minimize the effects of our rooms.

But what about IEMs? In an ideal world, where music is produced on flat speakers in the free field, all we'd need are DF tuned IEMs. They would sound perfect in such a world.

Our reality is, that a DF tuned IEM sounds horrible. We apply a tilt above 1 kHz and a room curve below 200 Hz on the diffuse field target. But this is flawed, because we would have to match the producers room.

It is actually not the DF tuned IEM that sounds bad, it is the music that does, because in our world, music gets produced under bad circumstances, i.e., in a room that increases bass and attenautes treble. So producers have to decrease bass and amplify treble.

Maybe music should be produced so that it sounds good on a flat speaker in the free field, and all room effects must be seen as flaws that have to be equalized. I'd only have to EQ my speakers to my room, and all music should sound good. For IEMs, there would exist only one target curve, the DF, without bass boost, without tilt.

DF doesn't sound like speakers in a diffuse field. FF doesn't sound like speakers in free field. Your own HRTF doesn't as good as HRTF of KU1000. Not only we don't have any objective target, we don't even have the means to develop an objective target yet.

What are some good quality single DD options? I was thinking Tigerism Octave. What else? Simgot, Fiio?
>>
>>101198831
Maybe I made mistakes regarding FF and DF. I just thought it would help make music sound better on IEMs, if the producers would not decrease bass and increase treble because of their shitty rooms. Maybe (most likely) I'm wrong, just want to discuss a bit I guess.
>>

Listen to the recordings of different decades for example. Everything sounds different. I think more standardization would be beneficial, even if that means that we'd have to eq the old music, to make them listenable on "new" systems. Just a thought, really.
>>
>>101198936
Baby steps. First we need a way to reliably reproduce at least one listening environment on IEMs without listening tests. Then we can decide what is a "good" environment and standardize it. There is impulcifier and the dev said it just works but he also says that autoeq just works and we know it's bs. Once we can model everything we can convert legacy music to an environment it's meant to be listened in and use object based audio for all new music. I strongly suspect we'll be unable to do that until head-tracking gets accessible. The brain doesn't audio alone for spatial cues.

I am looking for something very specific and I am not sure if there is even a market for that shit. I am no headphone enthusiast and the only to brands I know for inears are westone and shure. Now I am looking for inear wireless headphones preferably designed in a way thats suitable for sprinting and heavy movements and from a premium brand like shure or westone. The best I could find is generic from jbl for 100€ but I would be willing to spend more.

Then I'm fairly sure what you're asking for exists, I thought you were just going to say no to all options that weren't from a brand you knew & claimed to be a "premium brand".
The issue with in ears specifically designed for working out/running is that they tend to care less about the sound than the fit aspect

have you considered bone conductors like shokz?
if you really need the isolation that in-ears provide, you could probably try something else one of these autismos recommend. i recently tried Technics EAH-AZ80 and enjoyed them. going cheaper and you'll start gambling with qc and durability.

I would say "premium" tws are overrated when working out. Fit should take priority, then shit like anc and ambient mode depending on your scenario. From experience: Snoys have small form factor but WF1000XM5 make funny noise caused by shock when running and jumping, they also benefit from different eartips. Linkbuds S would be better but depending on your ear their microphone grill can catch sweat and skin and require cleaning after every use, still toppest of the top form factor. I've tried AZ80 but returned them, great sound but they weight is not very well distributed and when jumping I've felt like they will fall off. In all cases it's all about genetic lottery. Ironically, at home I use bulky $30 Engine 4 (barebone as fuck) with penon liquer tips, they are grippy as hell. Dunu S&S and latex tips should do the trick too.
Tl;dr fit/good eartips, then functionality, music quality third

Supposedly used for acoustic tuning, but I'm not too sure about the details.

This is what you can get instead.
>>
>>101209407
Is that true? I heard it was going for $22.
>>
>>101209446
I told you faggots, at $22 7hz would literally be competing with themselves, it would make no sense. This set is basically a blon zero 2 hybrid with no detachable cable for approximately 10$ less. I for one welcome these at a price point of $15 or less and will probably pick it up along with my gate depending on the graph.

Libra is v-shaped af my guy. I’m sure it’s not bad honestly but not my cup of tea desu.

>Libra is v-shaped af my guy
The measurement is pretty similar to the one shown for the Aero, except with (imo) a better ear gain placement, and detachable cable.

Ya i mean Im not gonna lie its actually done pretty well…that 8khz peak might be real though. Also I dont trust KZ as far as I can throw them I know this set will get stealth revised the only real question is “when?”
>>
>>101209472
Aero right now is selling on Amazon jp for ¥3500 which is like $20.

>that 8khz peak might be real though
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised, most KZ pos aren't damping any type of resonances. I wish the anon that posts these would include different insertions just to see how to reacts.
>Also I dont trust KZ as far as I can throw them I know this set will get stealth revised the only real question is “when?”
Agree, I don't have much confidence. I think for now, they're still worth looking at.

>DUNU DTC480
Basically you should ignore the Dunu and Simgot DEW4X dongles. They are cheap implementations of the dual CS43198. For only a few dollars more, you can get the superior Aful Snowy Night, EPZ TP50, or the new king obsoleting all other options: Shanling Onix Alpha XI1

Baskingshark said it is sub-15$ idk so verdict is out but it checks the boxes
>non semi custom shell(less material)
>stupidly minimal package and accessories
>non-detachable cable
