I went for the S23 (256 gb) over the Xperia 5 V (128 gb). S23 was around 100 euros cheaper.
Better software support and better built quality on Samsung from my personal experience with both brands. OneUI is also good imo
I liked the idea of having a headphone jack and an sd card slot but 256 gb is just enough for me and by now I'm used to bluetooth headphones.
I'm not a fan of and wanted to avoid puncholes but I also don't like the tall screen on the Xperias.

My OnePlus 7 Pro still works well, but I'm itching for a new phone in the 500-600€ range. Sadly, it looks like the category is riddled with mediocre phones that make too many compromises.
I'm a die-hard MIUI hater, Samshit's offerings are pretty meh, plus One UI seems bloated too. I think I like the Motorola Edge 5 Pro the most, nice display, clean Android implementation, good display and wireless charging, the latter practically unheard in the segment. What do you guys think?
One other option is holding on to my OP7 Pro that still works well, and has a battery recently replaced by the official repair center.

S20 FE 5G owner here, bought it used and I myself have used it 3 years, always had fast charging enabled and use my 25w Samsung charger for most of my charging. My battery is still holding up good.
I also enabled the "limit charging to 85%" option though and keep the battery between 20-80% as best I can. At the very least, do that. Install accubattery and it can alert you when it hits a specified percentage so you can unplug it then.

Never owned an Android before, how much does support life matter? Not sure whether to get a Pixel 7 that's supported for another 3 years or 8, which lasts for 6 years. Eventually but it lags far behind the current version.
Right now android 14 is current and maybe you occasionally see appls that no longer support android 8 and very rarely that only support 10 and up.

I'm surprised companies like Motorola are still in the phone game. LG and HTC eventually disappeared because of singular blunders, but Sony and Motorola still keep chugging along after endless fuckups

Yeah I forgot to mention >>101279999 is why I was looking for a replacement to my X3 Pro, after 3 years it just started failing, freezing randomly with the blue/green Poco X3 death screen (look it up) and not turning on again for anywhere between 5 minutes to an hour. It's a very common issue at this point, people fix it temporarily by reballing the SoC but it always dies from the same soldering failure again. If anyone in this thread has a Poco X3 (Pro), sell it ASAP so someone else keeps the hot potato. Also, the Indian version has worse solder quality so it dies quicker.
Very unfortunate since it's the only phone with a 120Hz display and good ARM Windows compatibility, Steam games run about as well as on a budget laptop.

Poco pretty much diluted their brand value by releasing budget phones with shittier specs

Thoughts on Samsung Galaxy A55? I've never owned a Samsung phone before. Should I go with something else in the price range?

Is moto g 54 a good phone (8 +256gb) ? Anything I should know before getting it?

I need a somewhat cheap phone, it has to be new/unused, not second hand or refurbished, with good screen(1080p or more), sd card and headphone jack. 5g is nice but not a requirement, latest android is not a requirement, I won't be gaming on it, camera is not a requirement however g54 has ois so that's nice.

I got a NP1 and the software is absolute ass. Quite buggy too for stock android with 4 things on top. I just recently upgraded to an S23 and I want Nothing to do with them anymore. The gimmicks are really not worth it either, it's just a bunch of gay ass nerd ringtones and LED lights that you're not gonna see because they're on the back. And once you get tired of the stupid retro font you can't even change that shit. They do let you unlock the bootloader but I'm done with custom ROMs, community is not amazingly active there in any case.
Stock android used to be good when Samsung had touchjizz (or very early OneUI) and Xiaomi was starting to get popular. Not nowadays.

Is bad notification management a Samsung-related issue? I've read Samsung tends to kill background processes in a particularly aggressive manner compared to other makers, which affects notificication delivery.
I've had 3 delayed (one by 40 fucking minutes) notifications and one that didn't even deliver at all until I opened the app, in the span of two weeks.
It's getting really annoying. Could it be linked to my storage being nearly full, or should I just jump to another manifacturer? Samsung A71 btw.

is it worth repairing the screen on my note10+. i cracked the bottom of the screen and fingers wont work but its fully functional with stylus. kinda sucks cuz i had it since 2020. it was a decent phone. my mom has the s22 but the note10+ seems better and id rather have give her that. samsung offers a repair for like $250ish and i figure ill go with that than iRepair or whatever.

on the s24ultra now. thank fuck they got rid of the curved screen which is what i think did me in, since my s8+ has more damage on the screen and still works with my fingers. sucks they got rid of the sdcard slot, but i got the 512gb, and my note10 had 256 and a 256 sdcard. overall very solid phone and the camera is insane. I regret not trading in my older samsung phone for it over the holidays, they were giving $1k off down to the S7 series

i already got buck broken by the loss of an audio jack with that one but i already own a DAP for IEMs/headphones so it's less important to me now. I would like to see more phones like the moondrop MIAD01 being done by sony or the like. I would have gone with an asus gamer phone just for the features but the software support stopped me

Best browser is a tough choice, I base it around my desktop browser so I can sync tabs and shit so since I use firefox on desktop, I use Iceraven on Android. It's basically firefox mobile with more features, but -not- privacy focused (if you want that instead, there's Mull).
Samsung browser isn't all that bad and it has some specific features like for instance, playing youtube videos in the background, but you could also do that with Newpipe).
