How is the new update for W11 LTSC bros?
>>

shamiko on the internets!

Is there a way to install stuff with winget but only install certain components? Specifically I want to install open shell but not the classic explorer.
Or if I just install it manually at first and use winget for updates will I be fine?

Good. Ever since they dropped that recall garbage the updates have just been fixes and stability improvements. No complaints.

If one installs this pre-release version, will it automatically update to the final release version when it becomes available? If not, I don't see the point.

Is it worth to install the MS Store? i'm losing my shit trying to install some apps with Powershell
>>
>>101358887
If you need apps then yeah. LTSC doesn't come with the app installer by default and even if you try to install it without the MS store then it will spit errors out at you most of the time.
>>
>>101358849
In a business environment the guy in charge of it spends thousands of company money on at least a pack of six IoT LTSC licenses as MS only ships them in packs officially. But because MAS exists, it doesn't really matter.

It's easier to just use the winget-install script from PSGallery and install MS Store UWPs through that instead as it installs it with all the dependencies and shit that they and it need.

The only catch is that a very small amount of modern programs won't run because it's frozen on 21H2 and those programs want at least 22H2 for no real reason. Mostly modern Adobe garbage.

Whatever happened to using KMS_VL_ALL for activation?
>>
>>101361510
MAS's HWID module is just quicker/easier to use. Though obviously you can still use KMS_VL_ALL to activate a Windows system if you want.
>>
>>101361510
Newer technology exists. Rather, Microsoft intentionally makes cracking their software easy, because they would have you run a pirated version of their own software than you using somebody else's.

HWID activation works on all SKUs of Windows at this stage, including /g/'s favorite LTSC.

I have a problem on my PC, I switched from W10 to 11 hoping it would solve the issue but it didn't work.
Basically, video starts lagging compared to the audio, I thought that maybe it was some driver issue, but I still get the same problem on W11 with the most up to date drivers. My GC is a RX 6800XT, is it just AMD drivers that reeks shit or the graphic card itself that has a hardware issue? Would switching to Linux solves the problem?
I could you a liveCD of any distro to test, but the issue isn't systematic, although on youtube it's always each time.

Monitor goes to sleep, window closes out but I still can't interact with the desktop until I press the mod key, and I hear that one sound that's made when something's disconnected. It's only happened to me when playing games. What do? I'm thinking that it's a driver issue, but I downloaded the latest drivers for my GPU. It might also be that the games are a bit too intensive? I doubt that'd be the case, otherwise it'd happen much sooner, and I don't experience any frame rate issues with what I play. Win10 Enterprise IoT in case that makes a difference. Can it be an issue with something like DirectX 12 or something like that?

Pc noob here currently in the process of getting a new one. Right now im watching tutorials on how to install windows 10 from a usb stick when i get it. My current pc is so old i used a cd to install windows 7 and it had one ssd for windows and a hard drive for movies, games etc. Now ive read that hard drives nowadays arent really a thing anymore so I was planning to get a single 1TB ssd for my new pc which would have a partition for the windows system and then another for all the files. My 1st question is would you recommend this? Like does having one single ssd work well or should i get a small ssd just for windows and a second bigger one for the movies, games etc.?

2nd question: Should i partition the ssd during the installing process of windows 10 or can i do that later on without any problems?
>>
>>101366114
You should use two SSDs. Also let Windows deal with an unallocated drive itself when installing to one.
Also HDDs aren't completely obsolete, people use them for large scale storage because they're cheap.

Yes, use one SSD only for Windows and the other for storage. In the Windows setup when you see the connected drives you should select "Disk 0 Unallocated Space" to install to.

I previously had some sort of configuration that prevented W11 from downloading and updating automatically, and would let me pick and choose which update I wanted. I reset Windows and now I cannot find a way to do that again, not even running Chris Titus's debloater won't work. I am running a custom iso I made with NTlite and enabled an option there to make updates manual but it seems to not be working for some reason. I want Windows to NOT update anything out of the box and let me pick driver and security updates and just let the iso version alone. Any help?

You could get away with a 500GB one if you want. A Windows install takes around 21GB these days.
>>
>>101366504

>>
>>101366525
You do need to factor in pagefile, hiberfile, and growth due to installing updates however. I personally like to budget InstallSize * 2 for my Windows partitions, and as such, 30-40GB has served me well since Vista.
>>
>>101366550
Well then something fucked up somewhere. Try enabling the policy but set it to notify when there's updates to download. Better then nothing.

So now i unsure
>>
>>101366615
If you're on a tight budget go ahead and use a 250GB one if you want. People don't really bother because storage is a relatively cheap part of a PC build like RAM.
>>
>>101366615
Purchasing drives, unless you have specific capacity requirements, has always revolved around best $-to-GB ratio.
If the 1TB is cheaper (per GB) than the 500GB, go for it. The other anon was just saying how big Windows is, and I was recommending how much breathing room to provide over that.

Ok so I'm still using windows 7 and finally decided it's time to upgrade to 10. There are 4 LTSC versions for me to choose from, which will work best with an ancient Thinkpad T520? Sandy Bridge, 16gb of ram and iGPU. Is oldest (1607) better here?

app data can also be moved with registry key hacking for full roaming accounts but I don't mess with that anymore it leads to trouble with some software environments

Is there a major reason to use Win 11 LTSC if I'm just gonna remove/disable/block as many MS services as possible?
>>
>>101375301
The main reason people argue for 11 is the partition bug in 10 ltsc which isnt getting fixed. I have no idea what it even is but I was on that for a while and went to 11 expecting slow explorer and all this other shit but its all just as snappy. Must only be the normie edition thats bogged down with all this bing start menu and slow explorer shit. I actually like the center taskbar now, seems more efficient.
>>
>>101375301
Mostly that you have an LTSC edition but any new features 11 includes are now something you can use like Auto HDR and DirectStorage, plus native DNS-over-HTTPS.
Also it's on 24H2 instead of 21H2, so some more snooty programs will actually run.

I have a question, who confirmed the sha256 hash in the OP post here so that it's a genuine w10 ltsc iso file? https://pastebin.com/ywkasnhM why does it point to a random website instead of actually downloading from microsoft or something? and in the 'details' section that points to the 'mydigitallife' website what does this have to do with anything? it's some gay gate kept website that wont let you see any links or posts unless signing up that doesnt even work
>>
where is the official cangelog for the monthly updates of w10?
for instance I use https://uupdump.net/known.php?q=category:w10-22h2 to get the iso and currently the latest version is (19045.4713) so what's the changelog for this?
>>
>>101377713
If the ISOs are uploaded to massgrave's repo they are geniune. You need to pay a monthly fee to get access to MS's actual hash entries so that files.rg-adguard site is the next best thing because they just provide scraped hashes from said MS hash entries. So just download the ISO, run the ISO through Get-FileHash in a PS instance then compare it to the filename entry hash on the files.rg-adguard website.

Back in the Win8.x days, moving your profile folder wholus-bolus to another drive would break per-user Metro apps, because they used hardlinks to connect the per-user install somewhere in %APPDATA% to the system-wide install - and hardlinks famously don't work across volumes.
I've seen a few anons swear blind this was fixed in one of the early releases of Win10, but I've never tested it myself. As a result, I use the right click->Properties->Target tab to move the profile folders backed by a shell folder the "approved" way, and then junction specific remaining folders to the new drive that I know won't cause trouble (such as cache folders, rude Win32 programs that install themselves into %APPDATA%, etc).
>>
>>101377762
>You need to pay a monthly fee to get access to MS's actual hash entries
You don't actually - Microsoft just makes it fucking obtuse to get there. I had to click about 14 different links until I got to the MVS display, but as I was doing it semi-randomly, I have no doubt it can be optimised.
What you DO need is a Microsoft Account of some type (no, not linked to your Windows install/logon - just a Hotmail or OneDrive account on MS websites will do the trick). It doesn't show complete information if you're not subscribed to MVS (such as product keys) of course, but it does show basics like file name, release date, SHA1/SHA256 hashes etc.

Is there a way to tell explorer.exe to eat shit and have every programs use something else like Explorer++ instead?
>>
>>101381957
i mean, for a start you could always try replacing the explorer exe in sys 32, though its "a bit" risky, so you better have another os on usb or whatever.

Windows updates are basically a computer literacy test.

If you're too dumb, stupid, or technology illiterate to do a 30 second google to block the updates until you want to do them, you are exactly the type of braindead subhuman normie retard who can't be trusted to take care of a computer. You're the exact type of moron who would click "no" to security updates for months or years while installing 200 malware greeting card toolbar trojans on your PC while blaming "M$" for having "bad security." When people talk about how fucking stupid and clueless boomers/zoomers are with technology, they're talking about you.

YOU
SUBHUMAN
NIGGERS
HAVE
BEEN
CRYING
ABOUT
THIS
SHIT
FOR
OVER
A
DECADE
AND YOU STILL CANT FIGURE IT OUT
AN ENTIRE FUCKING DECADE
KIDS HCAM FIGURE THIS OUT BUT YOU CANT
YOU ARE SUBHUMAN NIGGER TRASH

If you cry about something this fucking simple, you are too fucking stupid to use a computer, you are too fucking stupid to even breathe without assistance and need to be put in assisted living since you clearly can't take care of yourself much less your computer. You are exactly the type of brain dead retard who should not have a choice to apply updates. The funniest part about this is that even with everything taken care of for you, you subhuman niggers still manage to fuck up your PC by ignoring all warnings and installing 219837387 viruses and 13952598 hobbyist system hacks that break your entire system and proceeding to blame MS and Windows for your own retardation. Forced updates on normie retards are the best thing to happen to computing, it protects braindead retard niggers like you from yourselves (usually), while having a net positive impact on computer literate users because we don't have to deal with most of your self inflicted retard problems anymore. If you need to bitch and cry about this, you don't have the IQ to own a computer. Just lynch yourself and purge your subhuman trash genes from the pool for the betterment of mankind.

I am having trouble connecting to Dark Souls servers (any of them, and coincidentally only those titles) after I fresh installed Windows using W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021 and this thread's guide (https://rentry.org/windowsinstallguide
) to set up basic privacy and QoL changes. The game boots me to the menu screen after 2-5mins because I lose connection with the server, but I can log back in instantly from the menu. It seems like I lose connection for 30s, because network features like signs and bloodstains stop working, which is enough to boot me out, but I can login again instantly again from the menu.
I made sure to not use any external tool other than the guide, only modifying via gpedit and registry (I have experience setting things up with them). I tested if it wasn't the firewall acting up but even creating rules for the games specifically and even disabling the FW it doesn't change.
Anyone else had any issues with fromsoftware titles using this version? I don't know what could be causing it and don't want to format for the 3rd time (unrelated issues)
thanks anons love you

It may still be a preview currently but with it being open preview now you should expect more stability (or at least more stability every month with the cumulative updates) then when it was leaked from the closed preview branch.
>>
>>101387060
Originally it was lots of AI garbage, but because companies got mad about Recall they gotta change everything. A thanks to the customers that truly matter most.
>>
>>101386401
Have you tried just changing your system-wide DNS server in the network settings? Whenever I had problems connecting to shit game-wise this usually fixed it.

Is there anywhere to get W7 Ultimate free? I'm putting linux on a shitty celeron 3150 all-in-one and figured dual booting windows would be fun. I don't see W7 ult on my usual usenet sources.
>>
>>101388218
It's easier to use Enterprise instead these days because you can activate it easier. 7 ISOs are in the same place as all the other ISOs in the OP pastebin. Mainly massgrave.

wtf is this shit. it's happened on my desktop before too but i usually get an auto-update forced upon me before it can get too far along. genuinely feels like windows is just punishing me on purpose for not updating, i don't believe for a second that anything in the content of the update is magically fixing a problem that only came up for me right before the update
>>
>>101388238
Does enterprise have offline activation? I supposed I don't need any of the ult features since the install will be a glorified toy.
>>
>>101388279
Yes, you can use the tool KMS_VL_ALL by abbodi to freely activate it. Ultimate though can't be activated with this method.
>>
>>101388279
yea, ultimate is a consumer edition, so it doesn't support volume licensing. only professional and enterprise do
