Yeah, I've been noticing that while looking for a wireless one.
In the best case scenario of noise canceling working perfectly, they would be a nice to have for me as sometimes my current headphones don't isolate all outside sound, but if I can't find them in the wireless headphones I'm looking at that's a non starter.
I'll probably end up getting the Audeze Maxwell Wireless with no noise cancelling.

Is anyone familiar with the Q-Pad brand?
I have some QH-92's, but the cable has become faulty. It's started doing that thing where the audio only works correctly when you position the cable a certain way. The cable is not removable. 2 things.

1. Is this fixable?
2. Do they have any customer support available, I can't find it anywhere

I had its semi-open sibling, the QH-85. Cable shat out on me too.
I bought a 4-pole 3.5mm jack and soldered it in, the hole in the cup is the perfect size for it already. The microphone didn't work very well anymore afterwards (it was insanely quiet and picked up a lot of hum) but that could've easily been down to the janky cable I made for them.
Gave them to a friend to borrow for an indefinite amount of time and they still work after 10+ years.

Looking for closed back over heard headphones around 200€ or less.
Mainly just listen to a wide variety of music types and a bit of gaming.
I'd like to value build quality a bit more because I'm not that much of an audiophile. I guess something neutral would be best. Having a detachable cable is a must as well
I'd like for them to be portable but I guess I can live without super portability because I realize I only ever really use my m50x at home.
Reason I want to get something new is that the earpads have gone to complete shit, the headband is all flaking apart, theres a bit of a cable protruding from the hole where the headband clicks into. Rather just get something new.

I have 660S2 and these 600 are similar but a bit different tuning, I also have oldies 598 but take it with some grain of salt from me but 600 series have more mid range details focused with better instrument positioning than 598 while sound stage sound pretty much the same. (once again I'm comparing 660S2 to 598, the 600 may sound a bit different in your case scenario) but never the less you can't go wrong with 600 if you like laid back, detailed non fatiguing headphones.
Also 600 series are 300 ohm headphones so a good juice is required for them.

Depends on what you mean by really cheap. HD 58x matches everything else from Sennheiser if you're willing to EQ. He400se is planar and has very good distortion for the price. But if you need even cheaper, Superlux shitters are pretty much it (and they're meh).
Koss has some decent stuff but they're on-ear, not over-ear, and have nobass.

Yes. The microphone part of the headset can be unplugged from the headset. So I have my audio out (green) plugged into the headset to hear, and then I plugged the actual headset microphone straight into the mic in port (pink) and it works. But for some reason splitters will break the microphone's ability to output, regardless of which headset or splitter combination I use. I really don't understand it. And it wasn't like this beforehand.

Even with the PCIe soundcard, the behavior persists. I think I may have truly fried something at the chipset level but I don't know if that's even possible or not.

Good for the price per performance (at the time I got mine), good battery and comfortable to wear, but it lacks ANC and while the sound is good for most music it isn't studio grade for critical listening.
Also found that the app for the headphones is crap and mostly useless.

I use mine mainly for travel and sometimes when I am at work. Chose them over the Austrian Audio Hi-X25BT and have no regrets so far.

I don't think I'm getting distortion necessarily, but it sounds like the drivers are being pushed to do stuff they don't want to do, subbass. The overall sound loses some clarity. My DT770s which are supposed to be bass cannons also don't produce tons of clean subbass.
Whereas my IEMs can produce great subbass with no distortion. Strangely enough my Sennheiser HD 4.40 BT headphones also handle subbass remarkably well.
The point is, it seems like a lot of headphones don't handle subbass well.

I would always go for matching the gain in the bass with your negative pre-amp, you can get away with not doing that with mids/treble, because they're the quietest parts of music, but bass will always be higher.

Sennheisers do indeed have higher THD in the bass, but you really shouldn't be running into hearing that unless you're listening to them at glaringly loud volumes. If you applied 9dB of bass to an HD600 for example, you would still have to listen to your HD600 at an uncomfortably loud volume to likely perceive the distortion in the bass.

I do know what you mean about IEM vs Headphone bass though, and I think that's just a consequence of open back headphones. It's always going to sound less punchy than an IEM but that's simply the nature of a more diffuse environment.

"Handling" EQ comes down to THD. Smoother makes it easier on the user to EQ. You can painstakingly EQ the treble peaks of Beyers, but it would take hours of both measuring and listening, assuming you're even a trained listener in the first place. And no, you can't use someone elses measurements you found online lol. You don't know how much smoothing they've applied to their graph, not to mention rig differences, HRTF, etc. etc.
