>>103270214dongle is usually found in gamer headsets and theres only a handful of those with anc
>>103270500>and theres only a handful of those with ancYeah, I've been noticing that while looking for a wireless one.In the best case scenario of noise canceling working perfectly, they would be a nice to have for me as sometimes my current headphones don't isolate all outside sound, but if I can't find them in the wireless headphones I'm looking at that's a non starter.I'll probably end up getting the Audeze Maxwell Wireless with no noise cancelling.

Is anyone familiar with the Q-Pad brand?I have some QH-92's, but the cable has become faulty. It's started doing that thing where the audio only works correctly when you position the cable a certain way. The cable is not removable. 2 things.1. Is this fixable?2. Do they have any customer support available, I can't find it anywhereplz halp, I'm pretty sure I was recommended them here
>>103271118the fixing involves stuff like buying a 3.5mm plug, some sort of plastic thing to hold the plug into headphone with glue and soldering couple wires, perhaps drilling a hole for the plugyou need like soldering kit, wire stripping tool, drill and whatever parts that go into it
>>103271118This guy is pretty good https://youtu.be/5tcu-NUgMDQTo start you want to determine if you can take the cups apart without rotary cutters. If you can't, it's not worth trying to fix.
>>103271118I had its semi-open sibling, the QH-85. Cable shat out on me too.I bought a 4-pole 3.5mm jack and soldered it in, the hole in the cup is the perfect size for it already. The microphone didn't work very well anymore afterwards (it was insanely quiet and picked up a lot of hum) but that could've easily been down to the janky cable I made for them.Gave them to a friend to borrow for an indefinite amount of time and they still work after 10+ years.

Looking for closed back over heard headphones around 200€ or less.Mainly just listen to a wide variety of music types and a bit of gaming. I'd like to value build quality a bit more because I'm not that much of an audiophile. I guess something neutral would be best. Having a detachable cable is a must as wellI'd like for them to be portable but I guess I can live without super portability because I realize I only ever really use my m50x at home.Reason I want to get something new is that the earpads have gone to complete shit, the headband is all flaking apart, theres a bit of a cable protruding from the hole where the headband clicks into. Rather just get something new. Some suggestions I see a lot are- Fiio FT1- DT 770 Pro X- K371Also as a promising mention- Austrian Audio Hi-X20Any of these that should be favoured more or is there something else I should look at?
>>103276195you wont regret buying fiiothey're not super portable as they dont fold flat and you need to use the travel case they come withThe cable is 1.5m so you might want a replacement. I got an OPENHEART cable from aliexpress for it. The pads should be fine as is and it doesnt require eq.

>>103274864I have 660S2 and these 600 are similar but a bit different tuning, I also have oldies 598 but take it with some grain of salt from me but 600 series have more mid range details focused with better instrument positioning than 598 while sound stage sound pretty much the same. (once again I'm comparing 660S2 to 598, the 600 may sound a bit different in your case scenario) but never the less you can't go wrong with 600 if you like laid back, detailed non fatiguing headphones. Also 600 series are 300 ohm headphones so a good juice is required for them.

how loud is the sound leakage of open-back headphones for others in the same room? Do they really sound that much better?
>>103281349if other people hearing shit is a concern to you then open backs probably aren't viable.
>>103281137No. HD6xx with EQ performs the same.>>103281349Depends on how open, since there are degrees of openness. But generally they're recommended for use without others in the same room. And yes, they do sound that much better. Closed backs sound congested once you get used to open.
>>103281189>it has 45mm drivers which seem to even out the treble thing that people seem to shit on beyer forNo they don't, you might think that because of the DT 700 & 900 Pro X, but in their case it's the strong damping that kills some of the treble.
>>103281349HE400se is loud enough that people will easily hear what you're listening to. I think planars have higher leakage because the drivers are bigger meaning more distance from your eardrum on average.

>>103286315so since you plugged the headset connected to pc case front facing audio port via a splitter doesnt work, but if just put the mic in it straight it works while the audio works fine connected normally?
>>103286343Yes. The microphone part of the headset can be unplugged from the headset. So I have my audio out (green) plugged into the headset to hear, and then I plugged the actual headset microphone straight into the mic in port (pink) and it works. But for some reason splitters will break the microphone's ability to output, regardless of which headset or splitter combination I use. I really don't understand it. And it wasn't like this beforehand.Even with the PCIe soundcard, the behavior persists. I think I may have truly fried something at the chipset level but I don't know if that's even possible or not.

>>103290745Mogs every Sennheiser headphone except the HE-1 btw. (with EQ)>>103293699The only way to tell is to test a different cable. Don't bother with snake oil expensive ones, you can get the cheapest compatible one. Or just use it as an excuse to consoom new cans, up to you.>>103293739>otogeDangerously based. I would recommend the FT1 because it comes with a 4.4mm cable, but the resident schizo is gonna get mad at me.
>>103293981Get another warranty repair, don't accept getting cucked out of thousands of dollars because you're too pussy to contact support. Go full Karen if need be. Anyways I guess you can use a minidsp flex digital along with a topping dx5. PEQ is a rare feature.
>>103274888Good for the price per performance (at the time I got mine), good battery and comfortable to wear, but it lacks ANC and while the sound is good for most music it isn't studio grade for critical listening. Also found that the app for the headphones is crap and mostly useless.I use mine mainly for travel and sometimes when I am at work. Chose them over the Austrian Audio Hi-X25BT and have no regrets so far. That said the Sony WH-1000XM4 on it's current promotional offer might be better if they are within your budget (Mondo headphones still cheaper though).
>>103294151It's moreso the fact i want xlr out for headphones now than the unit itself (which i'm still going karen on)
>>103291117Looking at reviews it seemed like most people thought the MK4's where pretty good even in their stock config (other than perhaps an earpad swap if you don't like the originals). As long as their at least as good as the set they're replacing (A Bose Soundtrue from 2014) I'll be pretty happy.
>>103294282Mk4 literally just came out, mk3 is the one that Zeos shilled like crazy, mk2 is where the "cost-effective mod platform" reputation came from.
>>103294398It baffles me that there are still people to this day watching Zeos and taking him seriously. Not you Im just saying
If I plan on doing a lot of travelling, should I get some wireless headphones or would going around with something like a DT 770 pro be too cumbersome?
>>103293466Anon 90% of headpos people shill don't produce noise under 100hz lmao
>>103294724Depends. If no headphones then yes for wireless but if you have DT 770 Pro already then you have other options for using them (direct if phone has jack, dongle if not and a wireless adapter/ portal wireless dac if you don't like too much cables).
>>103294914I have nearly broken headphones so just looking to jump ship. The "lot of travelling" may only be a weekend here and there in reality. But I tend to be around other people quite a bit so closed back is preferred.I'm kinda just siding with studio headphones because looks like theyre built a bit more durable than the likes of sony and stuff. Don't want to buy new ones after a year or two
>>103294792Your 3rdie ear dildos aren't audible below 100hz either, tranny. Sub bass is felt, you need speakers for that.

>>103295043>durable>doesn't want sony or standard build headphonesThen it is probably the studio headphones (assume the DT 770 Pro in your case) and a wireless portable DAC would likely be your preferred choice.FiiO BTR15 appears to be the easy cheap choice for wireless portable DAC.For the DT 770 Pro you have different Ohms options of 32 (for mobile use), 80 (standard studio use) and 250 (Control And Monitoring). All options are closed back.
>>103294122>I need something better than dt 700 pro x>bro bro get the fiio ft1stop with the fucking shilling already, coming from the 700 pro x it's a sidegrade at best, and a downgrade at worst
>>103294792no? what kind of shitty ass headphones are you looking at?99.9% of headphones don't have this problem
>>103295455>For the DT 770 Pro you have different Ohms options of 32 (for mobile use), 80 (standard studio use) and 250 (Control And Monitoring).you forgot the newer 48 ohm 770 pro x, which is easier to drive than the regular 32 ohm version, has a detachable cable, better headband, and a solderless driver so you can easily fix it in case beyer's shitty qc kicks in
>>103295673Right on cue lmao
>>103295841yeah of course you are going to get called a shill, because that's the only explaination as to why you would raccomend it as an upgrade to someone that has an almost objectively superior headphone in every way already
>>103295709>48 ohm 770 pro xNot aware of that and good call.
>>103294724I wouldn't want to wear my 770s in public, and they don't isolate as well compared to other closed options. The long cable would be annoying.Either get some tws IEMs (whatever scarbir recommends for your price bracket), something from Soundcore.Get something cheap for on the go and keep the good stuff at home.Could also get some wired IEMs if you don't want to dels with wireless. I just got the 7hz Zero2 and they sound pretty amazing for the price, better than a lot of over ear headphones.
>>103295688Nta, but most Sennheisers don't seem to have much subbass, and distort when you try to add it in. That's my experience with the HD600 at least .
>>103295890>almost objectively superior headphoneAlright schizo. FT1 still sold out on multiple platforms no matter how much you seethe lol
>>103295947If you're running into distortion issues on Sennheisers when EQing there's something wrong with your setup. I've never experienced that. Are you applying enough negative pre-gain?
>>103295455>For the DT 770 Pro you have different Ohms options of 32 (for mobile use), 80 (standard studio use) and 250 (Control And Monitoring).Noteworthy: The fixed and not replaceable (well, without soldering) cable is also different for each version, it's respectively 1.6 m straight (32 Ω), 3.0 m straight (80 Ω), 3.0 m coiled (250 Ω).
>>103295930>they don't isolate as well compared to other closed optionsswap the velour pads for the pleather ones that come with the 32 ohm version and then the sound isolation becomes better than average>the long cable would be annoyingshorten itor get the 32 ohm version that has the shorter cableor get a modded one with a detachable cable, or the new pro xbasically what i'm saying is, if those are the only two problems you have with wearing 770s in public, they only apply to the 80/250 ohm version with the stock velour pads.
Hello, audiophile tourist here. I haven’t taken my Adderall for three days, and I just impulsively bought the Focal Clear MG and K9 AKM after talking to ChatGPT. I’ll be picking them up tomorrow, and they’re my first headphones that cost more than $250. Did I do okay with this random purchase?
>>103295954>guy has the dt 700 pro x>posts graph for the 770 pro x...ok so not only you are a chink shill, but you are also completely fucking retarded
>>103295974I'm applying -5db of preamp gain and adding 6db at 30hz and 2db at 60hz, not crazy adjustments exactly. Leaving everything else alone.I don't think I'm getting distortion necessarily, but it sounds like the drivers are being pushed to do stuff they don't want to do, subbass. The overall sound loses some clarity. My DT770s which are supposed to be bass cannons also don't produce tons of clean subbass.Whereas my IEMs can produce great subbass with no distortion. Strangely enough my Sennheiser HD 4.40 BT headphones also handle subbass remarkably well. The point is, it seems like a lot of headphones don't handle subbass well.
>>103296109Don't worry, that one's shit too. You may proceed to cry about it.
>>103296156>posts graph for the dt 990I give upbut seriously, what the fuck is your point?the frequency response of the ft1 is very close to the 700 pro x, so if the 700 pro x is shit, why isn't the ft1 also shit?>inb4 look it has 5% more in this specific frequency so it's bad!
>>103291623I don't think accurate mids are that important for electronic music without vocals, on the other hand you probably want a good amount of bass which the Sennheisers just don't have without EQ.
>>103296188It actually has more than 5% less in the lower mids, which is a far more audible range than whatever flaws the FT1 may have (which it has none, mind you). So yeah it's bad!
>>103296244>flatter=betterSo yeah, you're retarded
>>103296128>I'm applying -5db of preamp gain and adding 6db at 30hz and 2db at 60hz>Anon can't into grade school math
>>103296264No, smoother = better. Because then you can EQ it to whatever you need it to be.This is day one basics in this hobby, bud. Try lurking moar
>>103296128I would always go for matching the gain in the bass with your negative pre-amp, you can get away with not doing that with mids/treble, because they're the quietest parts of music, but bass will always be higher. Sennheisers do indeed have higher THD in the bass, but you really shouldn't be running into hearing that unless you're listening to them at glaringly loud volumes. If you applied 9dB of bass to an HD600 for example, you would still have to listen to your HD600 at an uncomfortably loud volume to likely perceive the distortion in the bass. I do know what you mean about IEM vs Headphone bass though, and I think that's just a consequence of open back headphones. It's always going to sound less punchy than an IEM but that's simply the nature of a more diffuse environment.
>>103296323>smoother curve means it handles eq betterokay, let's see what other dumb shit you come up with next
>>103296361>another strawman"Handling" EQ comes down to THD. Smoother makes it easier on the user to EQ. You can painstakingly EQ the treble peaks of Beyers, but it would take hours of both measuring and listening, assuming you're even a trained listener in the first place. And no, you can't use someone elses measurements you found online lol. You don't know how much smoothing they've applied to their graph, not to mention rig differences, HRTF, etc. etc.Any other copes?

Please share tuning for the FT1, AutoEQ doesnt have one
>>103296881it doesnt need eq
>>103296881Tune it to whatever you enjoy dude. Following curves is stupid because they're all preference curves, there is no "correct" curve.

>>103296102You should have bought moda
>>103268172>your local hifi storeLMAOWhere the fuck does one of those exist?
>>103296188>>103296156A flat response curve doesn't mean "sounds good" or "worth more money". It just tells you if it will annoy you, and if you can eq it to meet your own personal targets.Ask this really basic question:>what is the eq impact of the average room, during various types of music? If you think that you can eq a variety of music, you're either deaf, or not attune. Think for a second, does music sound different in different eq'd rooms? How to eq matchYou need software to analyze songs and provide some kind of response curve to reach targets imonot sure if any hifi has thisbut it's true with headphones too.But here's a problem>it's true for ears too, the eq needs to be on a per song basis PER LISTENERso you havesong * signal path * phones * ears -> config filefor headphonesandsong * signal path * speakers * room * ears -> config filefor speakers.I have no idea if anyone is doing this, but it's necessary if you want true matching. Even then, there will be nuanced differences (because there will be resonances that aren't accounted for)
>>103297346yesNo you can't afford it.
>>103288026He looks like a young and healthy version of my cousin that just died of Cystic Fibrosis a couple years ago. And that is in no way a dig at that guy.
>>103297346big cities generally.
>>103296102Mmmmm... balanced.
>>103297382Maybe. I would have been the local hifi seller in my area if anyone here was willing to spend money on audio quality. Everyone here in the more rural north east is so fucking cheap. I had a guy that runs his own restaurant come into my shop for a cable. A cable I had. I offered to sell it to him for $5 and he snickered he could just order it on amazon for $2. To this day I don't fucking get it.
>>103297418widespread demon possession. unironically
>>103294122why does the 58X need EQ?
>>103297510It doesn't, I don't know why people think you must eq. You can't really eq the way people think, it's mostly like avoiding annoying loudness.
>>103297510>>103297551It doesn't need it if you already like the sound. I just meant you can EQ it to match the other HD6-- lineup because it has relatively low distortion and is already similar sounding.>>103296102>after talking to ChatGPTBruh. The original clears are better imo. But the MGs aren't bad by any means.
