FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
https://github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts/archive/refs/heads/master.zip
HWID2 mimics a valid Windows installation to generate a permanent legitimate license
>and Office?
Same link, use Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

>What version should I install?
W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021
-10 years support on IoT LTSC, EoL 2032
-5 years on LTSC, EoL 2027
-LTSC releases are binary identical to Enterprise except no MS Store, no bloat apps, and no feature/version updates
-If you need MS Store run this in cmd: wsreset -i
-ISO: 4.5GB

W11 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2024
-EoL 2035
-Only if you fell for the 12th+ gen Intel meme and need the new CPU scheduler
-Same UI downgrades as regular W11
-ISO: 4.8GB

W10/W11 Home/Pro/Edu/Enterprise
-Avoid
-Only 1.5-2 yrs support
-Limited control over updates
-Preinstalled bloatware apps (games, music, news, weather, onedrive, start menu ads, etc)
*W11 specific
*Removed features and reduced performance in Start, Taskbar and Explorer
*Recall bloat (ARM)
-ISOs: 6.4~6.6GB

Weren't these Momoka Sakurai threads not too long ago?
>>
>>103291336
>Momoka Sakurai
Idk who that is or if that's true, Hotaru is all I see at the moment though and she's a 10/10. Unlike Windows 10.

No you have it wrong. Linux is for the midwits who don't understand that Linux virtualization is better than Windows virtualization or garbage like Wine.

Then don't succumb to peer pressure? Linux is nothing special - just install it in Hyper-V or WSL.
>>
>have time to waste
>put win 10 iot ltsc on old laptop
>HDMI stops working
>says can't project and need to switch video card/update driver
It's also slower than before (on a debloated 10 install), no longer has blue light filtering (even with custom programs) but that doesn't bother me since I just used for a very specific purpose. You guessed it, projecting stuff.
I tried disabling wumt to download driver updates, attempted deleting both video drivers and then restarting, no luck so far. Do I give up and reinstall a standard issue windows or is there any fix?
>>
>>103293558
how old are we talking? technically the drivers LTSC gets you are the same GAC would get you, so maybe there's another issue

In old PCs Windows Update sometimes gets you the wrong drivers, you can try and use SDIO to see which drivers work for you, or if possible, check if the manufacturers page still has the drivers for your model

2017. It was a fairly good "gaming laptop" back then (lol).

Are they for real? What the fuck are you talking about nigger? I know what I'm doing and I turned it off, why would you enable it "automatically"?
>>
>>103293403
Still have a full 7 years left to use Win 10 IoT LTSC.
That's plenty of time for Linux to get better.

Retard doesn't know he can set exclusions on entire drives - why would you? Defender actually works well.

Is there a good replacement for windows explorer that still has its own file thumbnails and shit? I keep getting issues it icon cache all the time, and not a single stackoverflo or even reddit thread back to 2016 found a solution to it.

I've seen lots of people heap praise on Directory Opus but it's payware to use (and I wouldn't bother downloading a warez version of it.)
You have others like Files, Xplorer and Explorer++ which also might be good for you.
>>
>>103295772
Virtually all "Explorer replacements" don't actually replace the Windows shell on any meaningful level. Explorer.exe does little more than create windows, then passes control to the real "shell" code, most of which lives in libraries such as shell32.dll - when you take apart these "replacements", you'll find they also just create windows and pass control to shell32.dll.
TL;DR: if you're having trouble with a function as basic as thumbnails, no common-as-mud Explorer replacement is going to help you.
