My LG TV shits itself when streaming large files (it resets the app to free memory), will getting one of those streaming devices solve this issue?
yeah but you want something more beefy and newer than that
just hook up your PC to the tv
>>103296234Any recs>>103296243Too inconvenient
>>103296193get an apple tv or nvidia shield.do not look at any other options
>>103296454apple tv gets shit on by the fire stick when it comes to piracy, and the shield has been abandoned by its creators
>>103296454>get an apple tvPay us money every year and void the warranty to install KODI bro. Or download an "app" that begs for $100 a year to play anything that isn't opus or AAC audio! It jest werks! Don't forget to break the controller open and rip out the microphones if you don't want us constantly monitoring everything happening in your house!Only $299.99. Great deal!

Yes it will, Anon.I was using my beloved Sony TV, with built-in Android, for as long as I could.I would do everything right on the TV, with the standard remote.Kodi, PLEX, SmartTube, even Netflix and HBO.Slowly the TV became more and more useless. Don't get me wrong, it was always kinda shitty, but I made do with it, because I loved the TV for what it was. When it became too much to bear, I would look into ways to optimize the TV. Disabling stuff, turning down resolution.I installed so much shit, and uninstalled an equal amount of shit.Eventually I started tinkering with the Android OS through terminal, just to squeeze out a bit more usability.I was down to running 1 app at a time, and if I wanted to switch to another app, I was prepared to wait for 5 minutes to do so. 4K content was completely out of the picture. Nothing would work. Then I finally gave in, and bought myself a FireStick 4K.My life has changed completely since then. It's really like I got myself a brand new TV.You can listen to the different Anons, arguing for this or that, but if you just want something that works, for a cheap price, you can't go wrong with the FireStick.Sideloading is super easy, and the remote is a joy to hold. I'm now a very satisfied Anon.
>>103296725Same but with an LG C2 and a Shield. It was expensive, but it plays anything I throw at it.
>>103296193Streaming devices are bloated shitware designed to be obsolete in 2 years max. You cannot stop them from pushing updates that will bring everything to a crawl. When my Roku got too shitty I built an i5-4210Y Linux HTPC. It's so much better.
