Nothing wrong with a Corsair 4000D Airflow.

Agreed anon, ridiculous and unfounded FUD. 4000D airflow is literally the standard and has been for half a decade, it's unimpeachable.

Nothing wrong with Silent cases either. They are designed to be silent, which obviously means slightly less airflow. You don't need a full mesh panel for every setup.

How bad is the b650e Steel Legend? Someone was saying before it was worse than the b650 Steel Legend but I can actually find this one locally. Can also find the b650e Taichi locally but I don't know if I need to spend $270 on a mobo

so eventually FSR4 is going to be available for 7000 series GPUs as well right? the hardware is already ready and they're waiting for 8000 series before releasing it so it can be available to both 7000 and 8000 series without making people with older GPUs feel too bad if they released it now to 7000 only instead of 6000? Is that how it works?

>>
>>103296990
I was looking at the A3 and AP201 review vids and there's barely any difference between having the mesh panel vs glass panel since the airflow is mostly from bottom intake to top exhaust anyways

For ITX cases it's a different story, glass panel vs mesh panel on NR200 is a big difference thermally. I'm guessing since there's no extra space horizontally for air to flow through more freely so it's relying more on the mesh

man as soon as I decided to get OLED now I'm torn between the choices in my price range

Was planning to get the flat Alienware 1440p 240hz OLED for like ~CAD$750
then I see this in the same price range too
And I'm still thinking about OLED 4K too just for watching 4K movies, would love to see how LOTR trilogy or Bladerunner would look on it

CAD$807 is like US$570

the cheapest 4K QD-OLED we can get for now is this, approx US$680

I am definitely tempted, i can at least downscale to 1080p 160hz if it's a newer game, or just use my secondary monitor that's not OLED (1440p 144hz).
Maybe questionable on downscaling to 1080p on a 32 inch but it might still work out if my viewing distance would be slightly farther anyways?

yeah but you're right, I'm definitely leaning towards the 4K now if only for movies since I won't have space for an OLED TV yet (i am still living with housemates becoz canada real estate is garbage and i dont want to settle for a shitty 1 bedroom condo)

baguette here

I've already purchased RAM, SSD and a ryzen 5 9600x on aliexpress (7600 was more expensive and 7500f was out of stock). Currently waiting for a good sale in the following week for a GPU

This is for 1440p gaming btw

I have a few questions:
Is a 7900XT overkill? is the Montech good enough, and should I add a fan on the top of the case as exhaust?

also any recommendations on the motherboard? B650 Steel Legend is either out of stock or 30 euros more than it should be, and X870 are over 250 euros

thanks in advance

just check reviews for thermals, pic related for AP201 + A3. For the A3 there's barely any difference between the tempered glass vs mesh panel

also interesting note, bottom fans are useless sometimes, particularly for smaller cases when the GPU is already so close to the bottom mesh
>>
>>103297378
B650e riptide is way more expensive than the steel legend. I can always try to get the steel legend on a sale. By sale I mean sometimes it goes to its normal price.

For reference, current prices are 187 euros for the tomahawk, 230 for the steel legend (sometimes 200 on a very good sale), and 260 for the riptide.

I really liked the Taichi lite looks but it costs 300 and that would just be silly lol

Another question, should I wait for the next gen or is getting a gpu on black friday good enough?
>>
>>103297417
Usually due to crappier thermals, but if you're buying one just make sure to have good cooling for your parts. Usually you want an aio and at least 2 140s feeding the GPU from the bottom.

MSI MAG 321UP is literally the perfect 32-inch 4K OLED monitor right now for me

165hz is enough I don't fucking need 240hz I don't think I'd ever reach 240 fps on most games I play even with my 4090 and I don't ever need a KVM switch

>>103297463
i bought pic related for my 7700X, i presume the 9800X3D is prob similar heat (basically not really hot)

imo if it doesnt need a huge tower cooler dont bother, those things will annoyingly sag a bit, ive done it before on midrange CPUs that arent hot in the first place and it's really unnecessary since the bulk imeding the airflow can affect GPU temps too which is usually the hotter one to deal with for gaming builds lopsided towards GPU

Because it's newer than the 240hz models I think. Very tempting right now I don't really need 240hz on 4k monitors. Though I wonder the difference between 240hz and 165hz, how much does that really cost the manufacturer. I don't really understand how monitor manufacturing works... in CPUs I understand yields and binning.

convince me not to please

Yeah looks like it. I got mine from a local site rather than the official one because import taxes and international shipping suck ass.
>>
>>103297732
is the Enthoo Pro worth using these days
>>
>>103297067
hasn't arrived yet

I'll call you gay if you do it
>>
>>103297727
the pixel density at 27/1440 is shit. Go 32/4k. The cheapest MSI 4k monitor is only $665. High refresh rate is a meme, more pixels is better.
>>
>>103297727
i get that 1440p is prob the best even a 7900XTX or 4090 can do with newer shitty games, but what games are you actually play?
4K 32" is going to be on a bigger screen AND have higher DPI, plus it'd be the native resolution for watching 4K movies especially since it's OLED

after watching the mediocre amazon LOTR series i really need to rewatch the LOTR trilogy in OLED this time
>>
>>103297605
I still don't understand what a thermal cycle is. Like, is there a specific temp you need to raise your CPU/GPU to and then bring it down to ambient or/shut off your computer to let it cool again? I can't find any information on this other than people saying it takes like 50 cycles for it to reach optimum performance but never say what the fuck a cycle is precisely and how to make sure you've actually caused it do what to it's supposed to count as a cycle.
>>
>>103297539
Ordered it yesterday. Not even a 4090 can hit above 165 fps at 4k so no point buying something more expensive. All the qd-oled panels are the same.
>>
>>103297802
when is it arriving for you?
>>
>>103297802
That's just pure buillshit, I did the math before 4090 came out and knew it would be able to hit 4K 165 in my competitive games, Hunt Shodown primarily, and it did. I had the Neo G7 4K 165. Then I got QD-OLED 240HZ and 9800X3D and the 4090 is hitting 240hz in that too. 170hz in RDR2, all 4K, so eat shit, you don't know because you haven't tried it and shouldn't be providing any advice on the matter. The 4090 is quite CPU limited and has been for most of its life, and still is with the 9800X3D,
>>
>>103297783
> watching 4K movies
Who watches movies? Are you a normie?
>>
>>103297790
>the material sees at least 15c above its transition temperature of 45c for at least 30 mins. you could also do 100c for 10 mins.

either condition should count as a thermal cycle by letting it heat up to that amount and then cool to room temp.

ptm7950 should just work after its first phase change but it gets better after 500-1000 cycles because it reformulates itself each time.
>>
Temps on my 9800x3d are going nuts, can spike up to 94c. Do I just need something 'better' than a peerless assassin to cool this thing or what? No overclocking or anything either.
>>
>>103297539
165Hz already is higher refresh rate in my significant opinion.
>>
>>103297843
Do you have PMO on?
>>
>>103297727
just buy the goyled why dont you
>>
>>103297843
you need to blow on it
>>
>>103297827
> The 4090 is quite CPU limited and has been for most of its life, and still is with the 9800X3D
If this is the case then it makes no sense to get even a 5090.
>>
>>103297872
you can brute force still and there are plenty of GPU-limited scenarios at 4K still, but yes it does have me reconsider it when I was just able to unlock 30% more performance with a CPU upgrade at 4K. not normal.
>>
>>103297872
5090 is the only non-cucked card of the 5000 series. The rest are refreshes of the 4000 series. Literally and unironically don't buy them.
>>
>>103297843
>The next-gen Ryzen 7000 processors are engineered to run at 95°C, day in and day out, throughout their life cycle. AMD claims that all the quality analysis for the Zen 4 desktop chips was done at 95 degrees Celsius. In fact, this is the same design target the chipmaker has had for several older Ryzen families.

TSMC chips can handle up to 110C btw. AMD GPUs throttle at that 110C. Their CPUs at 95C because consumers like you think anything more is too hot.
>>
>>103297840
There has to be a way to automate this.
>>
>>103297843
Deinstall the cooler, clean and reapply evenly decent thermal paste not toothpaste and reinstall your cooler properly. Adjust the fancurve in your BIOS or Mobo app. Rub hands.

>>
man i camt wait to have my 7700x + 7900xtx build ready
im legitimately freezing in my room right now, im renting the top half of the house but i dont think the walls have insulation so the heater cant keep up and im freezing while the rest of the house is fine

i fucking need my pc that doubles as a space heater in winter now, then in summer i have to get a long enough display/hdmi cable to leave the pc tower out my room while the monitor and everything else is in my room
>>
>>103297915
Yes. Just make sure you aren't buying from a "like new power washer.
>>
>>103297576
but anon, look at the graphics! the visual fidelity! it's just like real life!
>>
>>103297907
>>103297914
You can customize the thermal limit in the BIOS. Depending on your motherboard the limit is either AMD default 95C or pussy 85C.
>>
>>103297882
wait isnt AMD doing the same thing and only having up to 8800XT, why did they both collude to just have a refresh generation wtf

even with their CPUs, the 9700x is practically the same to the 7700x, sometimes the 7700x is better somehow too
>>
>>103297920
Got it. Looking at picking up either a 4070 Super or 4070 ti Super. I could buy at current prices but that seems like a mistake when 5000 is so soon
>>
>>103297916
How can 600Watts heat a room in winter? How small can your room be?
>>
>>103297895
you can do this just playing a game or something. play bg3 for 30 mins, alt tab or pause for 5 mins, resume, repeat.
>>
So my 4080S has a pigtail with it with 3x PCIe connections but the HX1000i only came with 2 PCIe cables, is that enough for now without causing issues?

Any good deals on ddr4 RAM right now? Looking for 2x16 GB
>>
>>103297936
Big enough to have a desk and double bed but not much else to be fair, but the window is big (fortunately north facing so no direct sunlight)
the central heating is still running but my room would be like 16 celsius while the rest of the house is 20 celsius
yes a 600w space heater would absolutely help make it more comfortable so i dont have to wear a sweater inside my room
>>
>>103297973
it's like $50 now even without a promo, just dont eat out for a bit
>>
>>103297782
why are these people so sociopathic
like people actually want to click "play game" and not have to think about buying a 2k € gpu when they first move the camera ingame
>>
>>103297973
Just sort by price on PC Part Picker and Google Shopping. It's pretty rare for something to be missing from both of those. And RAM modules are all made by the same 3 companies so it's one of the parts that you can cheap out on as long as it seems to have good ratings.
>>
>>103297980
>16 celsius
That's comfy tier unless you're a woman and start freezing when it's under 30 celsius
>>
>>103297782
Wrong on all accounts. Consider seeing an optometrist.
>>
>>103297987
Perhaps, but then the problem is trying to find the best one
>>103297999
As far as I know the all manufacturer and model does matter, the problem is reliably telling what a given ram uses, it seems most models end up using different die for the same sku
>>
>>103297980
60 is pretty comfy, desu. And I say this as so someone who lives in the South. Just throw on a long sleeve shirt, some sweatpants, and socks. Your body heat is probably escaping through your feet even if they don't feel any colder than the rest of your body. Hands too, but you can't do much about that.
>>
>>103298001
thats what it is right now already, it wil get worse when it's actually negative outside

Here is my current computer:

I'm thinking of getting perhaps a 5080 whenever it launches. My question is,

>If I do, will I need to get a new motherboard and basically build an entire new computer?
>Should I consider doing that anyway even if it's not strictly necessary?

The answer is yes to all your questions

Okay, I admit this is rather uncomfy. And high air humidity as well I guess. If you don't have to pay your power bills you can have your PC mine bitcoins 24/7.
>>
Thoughts on this for my first OLED? It's going to be for a 9800x3d and 5080/90 build.
>>
I need a board ASAP, is this ok for 100 eurobucks?
>>
>>103298018
Sixteen! And not sweet little but Celsius! This is uncomfy af. The minimum acceptable is 19°C with dry air. And I currently live in South Portugal.
>>
>>103298104
It's not bad, it's probably functionally similar to the Tomahawk.
>>
>>103298073
Even that isn't safe. I remember getting a PS3 and noticed it had a built-in web browser. Where there is a will, there is a wank.

It's for
> click "play game" and not have to think about buying a 2k € gpu when they first move the camera ingame
that is
>>
>>103298115
Yeah, and I live in fuckin' Florida where this is approximately two months out of every year where you can go outside and not be hit with at least 80-90 degree weather (often higher) and 80-100% humidity with fuckin' wet bulb warnings all the time.
>>
>>103298115
I feel bad for you. you'll never know how comfy it is to sit next to a radiator when outside is -20 C
>>
>>103298102
I ended up going with a PG32UCDM, yours was second or third place basically just because it doesn't have Dolby Vision. If that's not meaningful to you, then this one should be about as good as monitors get right now, and it's a couple hundred cheaper than the others in its bracket on sale.
>>
>>103298123
>a PS3 and noticed it had a built-in web browser.
Great! I have to check my son's console now. Thank you.

Which aio?
For cpu, mounted on top, set of 3 120 fans in exhaust/push?

Arctic Freezer III 360, non-rgb
Lian Li GA II 360 Performance
>>
>>103298129
You still have to wait® for OLED panels with true RGB subpixel layout, there are other improvements like more monitors supporting DisplayPort 2.1 in the future.
https://tftcentral.co.uk/news/oled-news-and-rumours-round-up-for-2025

The prices of existing OLED monitors have dropped enough for more people like me to buy into it.
About 2~3 years ago you had to pay $500 for a relatively high-end 27" 1440P IPS monitor with backlight bleeding and shitty contrasts.
You still have to pay around that much, or more, for a high-end 360Hz IPS monitor.

So I misread and I was referring to the MSI MPG 321URX, which is about $80 more than the model you are looking at.
It's hard to find the difference between these online, but based on reviews the MAG does not receive firmware update support, but the MPG does.
