Why not use Unifi? Is it because you're too poor?
>rethinking itcringe
>>106609533Because its a glorified tp link at the end of the day and I can't just make it do something insane one day that fits my specific niche use case like I can with OpenWRT or Mikrotik
>>106609533So retarded.
>>106609533No, I went through the trouble to cable the house. Do you use this because you're stupid or lazy?
>>106609533I don't even know what it is and I'm not curious enough to find out.
unifi is fucking trashuisp is ok, most of my network runs on their wireless link hardware
>>106609533I'm not too poor, they're too expensive
>>106609533I do use unifi though.>>106610902You do know unifi isn't a wireless only product? Their primary hardware is switchs and routers, they do APs too but that's in addition to their wired networking gear.
>continuous data breaches>bug allowes you to watch people’s IP cams>data-farming built into the software agreementI’ll buy Ruckus, thanks.
>>106609533>"hey don't you want consistent wifi across your entire house?">boy that would be great! does that mean you solved that annoying issue most other repeaters have where your devices remain stuck/attached to the repeater you initially connected to and so unless you repeatedly disconnect and reconnect manually it doesn't actually fucking help?>"nope lol! we just gave it another name for trademark abuse reasons -- hey wait come back :("
I fucking hate how their surveillance system is the polar opposite of everything else on the market, giving you freedom to do almost whatever the fuck you want but then restricting basic features like motion detection to only their cameras and giving you like zero options for storage backup.
>>106609533My parents are using a UDR6 and it works fine but OPNsense + Mikrotik switches + any good enough AP is the way.
Because what I have already works fine? AC is more than fast enough for all my devices that are stuck with wireless.

>>106609533>need WiFi AP at work, employer asks me to research it>read reviews, tech specs, everyone seems to be drooling over Ubiquity>buy Unify 6 Pro Turbo 3-band WiFi access point>can't set more than 1 (one) BSSID without buying more Ubiquity shit>the old TP-Link repeater had better coverage and features>boss thinks I'm retarded nowNever buying this garbage again.
>>106609533doesn’t run openwrt and probably spies on you
>>106609533I've owned Unifi equipment for the last eight years and the controller has worked for a total of about two months
>>106612102>can't set more than 1 (one) BSSID without buying more Ubiquity shitIt's been a long time since I've touched Ubiquiti stuff, but I'm pretty sure they still have the software controller that can run on pretty much any server.
industry wise it's one of the easiest ways to set up a network and tinker with it, we got the last enterprise controller, multiple switches, batch panels and 15+ ap in a building and it's working flawlessly with poe, serving regularly 400+ devices usually on wif, some cabled. it's the best infrastructure this piece of shit of a company has by far. I can easily control every ap and aspect of the network from the controller's control panel and it's a good experience, it is very expensive tho
>>106609533>asking a linux board why they are not using a product that breaks the gpl
>>106612579fake news. enterprise doesn't use shitty prosumer stuff. enterprise actually uses enterprise gear such as aruba and ruckus.
>>106612293Correct, he's retarded. You can run the software locally on any computer or server.Hell, you can also configure multiple BSSIDs via SSH if you're a turbo retard who doesn't want to install software. Though it isn't recommended since the software is the intended way to set things up.
>>106612666You're right, ubiquiti makes entire product lines aimed at college campuses and other professional settings because they're bored and enjoy making hardware no one will ever buy or use.
>>106612579>it is very expensive thoNot compared to Cisco, Ruckus, Aruba, etc.
>>106612666>"enterprise actually uses enterprise gear such as aruba and ruckus."Get a load of this goy
I built my own PFSense router and used it with TP Link Omada APs, I am in for like $100 with a better router and identical wifi performance. Why would I spend $800 on a UDM?
i dont even know what the fuck this shit is, but kill yourself for gloating about having a bunch of money. you deserve to get your intestines dragged through the street, cocksucker
>>106609533I'm so poor I don't even know what unifi is.
>>106614250it's funny, i only ever see such ugly takes like the one from op, and probably yourself on 4chan, anywhere else people are too afraid to make these statementsprobably for good reason. one attributable username is sometimes all that it takes. and you're fucked. fully doxed.
>>106614260Because outside of 4chan you'll be asked to defend your shitty opinion and you generally can't without embarrassing yourself. No one is doxing your poor ass.
>>106614295Oh no. Someone who isn't me is poor and someone who isn't me also doxes people. In fact SWIM has doxed MANY PEOPLE. Including their entire families. SWIM has been doing it since 2013 or so.SWIM really doesn't gloat too much where he knows he can't do shit. But you should probably be aware that a lot of people these days have the mentality of SWIM: If you're a dickhead, the time for "just ignoring it" has passed. Now, if you're a dickhead, it becomes "SWIM will destroy your entire life, and humiliate you to your entire living family, and you might also become a victim of identity theft"Just saying.

>>106609533Might as well use Cisco gear at this point. Price is about the same.Seriously, just stick with TP-Link/Omada if you want to save money, or go for Ubiquiti for a in-between them.
>>106614358who the fuck is swim
>>106614260I'm just too old to care about "presentation" and faking it. I do fake it a bit at work, like dress up and drive nicer car because coworkers will try to take advantage of you if they fell superior. My /g/ stuff if e-waste or stolen at work, if my mom didn't give me her apartment and move back to countryside I would be homeless. So no idk what unifi is, my guess is like consumer version of meraki? My router is ancient 100mbit mikrotik.
>>106614361>go for Ruckus for a in-between themFix. Although I guess it depends. Cisco is cheaper than Ubiquiti's shit here.
>>106614375You clearly have never posted on TOTSE lol>>106614377>I do fake it a bit at work, like dress up and drive nicer car because coworkers will try to take advantage of you if they fell superior. You shouldn't. >>106614442I just wish that people would be nicer to each other. More than anything, I wish we could, after so many years on this rock, learn to stop belittling people. And underestimating what people in each social class are capable of doing.
Reminds me of how crypto nerds tend to go brag on X dot com about their massive W's, twitch streamers as well, and the next thing you know a group of 5 zoomer niggers jumps the fuck out of him and literally kidnaps him, holds a gun to his head and tells him to send the fucking ETH or his brains are being blown out, faced with certain death they usually comply, sometimes even those robbers get away with the crime.Lesson: Be humble.
>>106614490>NOOOOOO!!! MY UNIFI WIFI WAS SUPPOSED TO STOP THE NIGGER FROM BLOWING MY BRAINSTEM UP>Status: DisconnectedI guess you should have brought the premium enterprise plan. Gloat less next time!

>>106609533I don't buy into this trend of embracing products that are clearly botnet mitm's harvesting data for glowjews. It attracts lazy midwit reddit faggots with more money than brains. The youtube grifters are shilling unifi now.I have a pfsense router for 10 years. I caved in last year to setup unifi APs with my own unifi controller vm. Sole reason was for vlan ssid's. I don't trust the amount of constant telemetry from the unifi system even without an account. They are all blocked from the internet. I only open access when I want to upgrade firmware once a year. And from what I read the firmware upgrades are getting worse. I would never let unifi take control of routing.

>>106609533I use it at work and I love how I can just swap out a broken ap with a new one off the shelf and it has all the settings of a previous burned one with one click. I also use it at home since they released UCG-Fiber.
>>106612666We use it, cope harder satan digits, christ is king>>106614001and?
>>106614527How much are you paid to shill?
>>106614540This. So much this. This is how you should handle it. I've talked about just sticking with TP-Link and Cisco, but this is how anyone that wants any control over their network should do. If you're going to use UniFi regardless, this is probably the best way to do it.
>>106609533I run Juniper, why would I buy Unifi?
>>106609533I use mikrotik.I configured it once 3 years ago and never touched it since.never had an issue.
