Why can no other laptop company begin to come close to the MacBook?

How does Apple manage to win, year after year?
>>
Does not matter how 'good' (if you consider 'good' soldered RAM and SSD, and a laptop that can't be booted from an external SSD) the hardware is if it gets shipped with a kindergarten OS
>>
>>107269881
welded ram and ssd, becomes e-waste the moment next gen gets announced.
also neo-liberal design with soft corner aesthetics.. too feminine for me.

I have a personal M1 MacBook air and see no reason to upgrade in a near future.

yeah but idk I have L380 from 2019, upgraded it twice and it's now on 32gig ram and 1tb ssd.
with phone tech laptops like macbook you're fucked unless you're ok with using 8gb ram machine in 2025 and idk what size ssd's came with those 256 gigs? Those are not even aliexpress phone specs today.
>>
>>107270043
apple got you covered there
>>
>>107270053
Sure. It's cool to have upgradability. It's not a feature on a MacBook. It has other features. Besides. You still have a slow budget laptop. It just have 32gigs of ram now.

whats kindergarten about it? compared to Windows or Gnome/KDE (underlying distro doesn't matter)

What ever happened to Intel Lunar Lake?
Wasn't that supposed to be the Apple M equivalent for Windows Laptops?

Apple's hardware could be 10 times more capable and I'd still not buy because of MacOS.
>>
>>107270189
that has, better screen, battery life, processor, build quality, trackpad and sound and arguably os. Macbooks are great laptops. It's not 2005. You don't need to take sides like in console wars ps3 vs xbox360.
>>
>>107269895
>MacOS makes me more productive because of the Apple ecosystem. It allows me to work seamlessly on all Apple devices. The features that I like are that you can share files and clipboard content wirelessly, answer calls from your iPhone using your Mac, or use your iPad as a second display for your Mac to extend your workspace. These features make my work more efficient. There are still things I didn't mention; you can see more at https://www.apple.com/macos/continuity Also, M1 can run apps that run on iOS and iPadOS. Especially apps that run on iPadOS and then are able to run on Mac, that makes the work more effective. I also like the sleek user interface. The graphical design is clean and elegant.

If you're not flying, see if Anker has one of their large 20,000+ mAH batteries available. You maybe able to double the time your Arch box can run on battery.
>>
>>107272176
>>it only has thunderbolt ports so buy an expensive dock to have ports

You can get an external enclosure for an SSD from MacSales. The 1M2 enclosure uses the entire enclosure top as a heat sink. No need for a dock.

I have a dock. I pull it out of the bag every 9+ months.

My M1 Max hasn't slowed down.
>>
>>107269881
Despite lurking here since 2011 or something and shitposting against apple for years, I had to pull the trigger and use a Pro M1 back when it released. Since then I had the chance to work with a M2 air as well and now I got the M5 as a private non-work laptop.
All I can say is, the silicon macbooks are genuinely excellent machines. The recent Liquid Ass aesthetic is very questionable but the OS is solid as well.

I would be way more critical if there were better alternatives, but it's hard to find a laptop that both feels and actually is better in terms of hardware; modern Windows being putrid shit seals the deal honestly

What if I was? The point is it should be your computer, and nobody should be able to police you in the privacy of your home, whether what you do is legal or not. Because once that door is open, it's open for everyone, the "good guys", and the "bad guys". Your privacy is gone, and your right to decide what you do and what you don't is not yours anymore.

One of the problems is that even though you pay exorbitant amounts for these devices and their software, they don't simply consider you a customer, they also consider you a product that they can sell to governments and other corporations as well.
>>
>>107273367
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
>>
>>107273343
"Protecting the children" will always be their way in. unfortunately, we all know this is just a cover up.

If they really wanted to protect children they should make laws that punish parents that do not supervise their children, just like you don't give a car and the keys to a child they should not have access to unlocked smartphones and computers, devices specially made for children would be better.

You cannot install unsigned software without jumping through hoops made for children, and you cannot modify the system. Only apple can modify (or in some cases access) the full extent of the OS in "your" computer.
>>

>You cannot install unsigned software without jumping through hoops made for children
Open unsigned programs in setting or a terminal command is not hoops. Windows does the same by the way.

So even if the files themselves aren't transferred, they are indexed by apple. Technically, apple employees have access to a record of what is in every single picture you have looked at on your mac. Not to mention your government can potentially have access to it too.

Surely that won't backfire ever. LMAO

there is no equivalent to macs

macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when pajeetOS runs out of RAM it swapfile rapes the SSD to death within 3 years
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when the SSD dies it bricks your entire currybook because the EFI is stored on the soldered SSD to save $0.05
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>components serial numbered and tied to the motherboard to prevent repair and replacement (including battery)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>riveted keyboard that requires total destruction of the chassis to replace
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>flexgate cables that are so brittle they crack from opening your screen past 90 degrees more than 2 dozen times
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screens so fucking shit they have over 90ms response times (essentially 10Hz)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screen made from pajeet trash glass that cracks from temperature change in seasons or tape over the iBotnet webcam
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>so fire and explosion prone the FAA have banned them from all flights
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>uses phone CPU that's so shit it gets destroyed by decade old i3s from 2017 and can only "compete" by cheating at benchmarks in extreme edge cases with hardware accelerators
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>curryniggers at apploo get so full of sniffing their own currynigger silicon shit they ship currybooks with no fans and they run so hot they melt the keyboard keys
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs

>keyboards with 63.5% failure rate
unheard of on PCs, and yet you curryniggers defend it with "jus werx fer me!"
just because you're in the 36.5% survivor group doesn't make your currynigger trash any good
this list goes on forever
there's no PC laptop as total fucking currynigger shit as crapple's streetshitter books
they are the biggest heaps of steaming currynigger shit in the history of computing second only to curryPhones

The soldered SSD thing is just evil, like there's no point at all for it to be designed like that, other than to ensure the user's data is totally fucked if anything happens and to ensure the laptop becomes a worthless brick once the ssd wears out.

Even cheap HP laptops have nvme slots and let you boot from usb or the sd card slot etc, and let you boot your own choice of OS.

I could never give money to apple, it's literally being cucked. Paying money to get assraped. Paying to get abused.
