So Intel and Nvidia enter a partnership.
Nvidia decides to stop releasing chips to AIBs for consumer grade GPUs.
It announced this right before Intel releases Battlemage.

The demand for low or midrange RTX 50 is then directed into Intel Arc right when Intel needs it the most.
Nividia don’t care because AI boom orders are still backlogged

The Intel & NVIDIA partnership is about selling data center GPUs with x86 CPUs, and making high-end mobile SoCs that don't have trash like RDNA3.x GPUs.
It's not about dGPUs.

Intel's basically shitting out the minimum required dGPUs until they can design more area-efficient & profitable ones (if they still care about this).

mid-range builds kinda died off after we entered the era of hardware appreciating in value, and people finally collectively realizing you can use a top-end pc for about a decade now so there's no reason not to go all-out anymore.

Low and mid-range pcs, as a concept, are a relic from an era where you MAYBE got a good 24 months out of your hardware before it became antiquated garbage, but often it was even less than that.

There's literally no excuse to not get the top-end shit considering how long your investment will last, except for being a thirdie

PC building is a massive supply chain with thousands of companies and millions of employee, if you think it's going to suddenly disappear because jeff bezos, jensen and elon cuck got together and decided they own the world you're a complete moron.
the AI bubble is a great opportunity for regions outside asia to raise a new supply chain branch for semicondutors, dram, nand, cpus, etc and I believe it'll happen very soon, china can do it alone and europe can work with latam and do the same.
things will be back to normal in 2 years, and after that they'll be much better.

Some people just don't keep up with hardware news.
RAM prices during the last holiday weren't catastrophic, especially with CPU & motherboard bundles (I don't give a shit about others' local pricing & product bundling situation).
They were basically at the level of early DDR5 adopter prices. It sucks, but the discounts on other parts made it possible for people to complete their PCs before GPUs prices started to rise.

asml is european and europe has many small research focused companies that already have the technology to build GAA 2nm and less semicondutors, they don't manufacture it because the investment required is massive but with the AI bubble the prices are so high that now became worthwhile to do it, specially together with latam who have enough rare earths to kick in the production.
you'll see those plants those plants coming up in the near future, I wouldn't be surprised to see europe going all in on semicondutors and chip design and latam going into dram and nand over the next few years.

4080 was 800 - 900 bucks quite often. The 5070 Ti costs even more now.
Don't forget the 4080 is over 3 years old too. You could have had the same performance you get now from your 5070 Ti for the same prices YEARS ago.

The 4080 is still faster by a slight margin and the ONLY feature 5070 Ti has over 4080 is 4x FG, but who in their right mind uses FG? Even 2x has horrible latency making it uselss.

You need to test whether the parts you bought are working.
It's much easier to get a refund/replacement on defective components through the retailer's product return period compared to the manufacturer's RMA.

You're living in the easiest time to learn how to properly build a PC as well.

Gentlemen, I just wanted to say thanks for still being here. You were here when I made my OG bench box in 2013 and you continue to have good advice. Last time I was here was to get a dual-DVI Qnix QX2710LED 2k for my 1080ti when that was the hot thing.

I've been needing to do a full build for a bit. 1080ti Seahawk is starting to crap out on me. I'm literally posting from integrated graphics on my quaternary 1080p OLED. My old high end DDR3 has been replaced twice as it gave out. My old EVGA Supernova PSU chewed itself apart. Not even getting into regular swaps like drives.

But, today, even on the backend of the AI fuckcenter hikes, I got a PNY 5070ti for MSRP, 32 Gb of the last Crucial 6400 mhz, MSI A5 B850 Tomahawk motherboard, Ryzen 9800X3D, with a new 4K KTC M27P6 monitor for less than $2500 Freedombucks. Being able to reuse my PSU, cooler, case and fans and drives basically was the different in the price hikes. Would be nice to have more than 32Gb ram, but I still remember the Taiwan fires and the early DDR4 fuckery that kept me on DDR3 back then. I'll take the blessings I can get.

Thanks again /g/entlemen.

Notice how ever since the 40 series launched there has been zero generational improvement in the categories of performance per dollar, every subsequent GPU released is immediately priced as if it was the same generation just within a more powerful segment. >Anakin and I used to doubleteam her at the end of every successful campaign during the Clone Wars, and once in a while we’d even have the entire 501st run a train over her, part of official Jedi “training” of course. In time, she learned how to handle a meatsaber better than anyone in the Jedi Temple. She wore a miniskirt every day so we told her there were no panties in space, and since she was constantly doing acrobatics you’d get a glimpse of her orange pussy mid fight as she’d do a flip while slicing a B2 Super Battledroid in half. It was surreal.
>We taught her to grip her weapon backwards like a dildo and she constantly got captured by pirates and slavers almost every other day. It was ridiculous, like a constant porno Luke, you have no idea. And she was a good friend

4090 was almost double the performance of 3090 and even the 4080 was faster than the 3090.

I'll tell you the same thing I say about mechanical work of any kind. Don't be afraid to lay your hands on it. Most worries are overblown. I blew four years of dust out of my old case today. Did I give a fuck about air moisture worryworts in compressors or destroying fan bearings? No, because I am not a retard, and I can wait for everything to be clean and dry, plus not overexert the bearings on moving parts.

Confidence comes from doing, and confidence with force comes from knowing when something will bend and not break.
>>
>>107901970
Meanwhile the 5060 Ti still can't beat a 4070 or a 3080 lol

the real danger is generating an electric charge that feeds back into your computer. If you unplugged all your fans the risk is nil

The way it died wasn't bad. It was just the entire PC would crash when you drew too much power. For me, it was IIRC when Elden Ring came out and the power draw to the GPU would shut down the whole system. That's when I knew it was fucked. Any time it needed more than basic idle and youtube, it would hard restart. That was how I knew it was dying.
>>
>>107901992
Well yeah. It's literal hardware on the card.
>>
>>107902001
psus degrade over time and fail to meet the capacities they once did. This is part of why quality psu's overprovision on capacity and a brand new 1000 watt unit can often sustain something like a steady 1200-1300 watt load. So that when it degrades, it takes a long time for it to fall below being able to do 1000.
>>
>>107901986
Yep, this is basic maintenance procedure.

If you're in the US, I would consider:
be quiet! Pure Power 13 M
Corsair RM1000x (2024)
Super Flower LEADEX VII XG 1000 W
Fractal Design Ion 3 Gold 1000 W (built by SeaSonic)

You don't need a 1000W PSU, but you can carry it over to the next build with a higher GPU power draw (10-year warranty).

This SeaSonic Vertex 1000W is discounted to $160 @ Woot (manufacturer warranty honored by SeaSonic apparently since it's fulfilled by Amazon).
But it has the older 12VHPWR connector that is less safe than the 12V-2x6 connector.
https://computers.woot.com/offers/seasonic-electronics-vertex-gx-1000-psu-2

I don't recommend this PSU if you're going to use a relatively small/tight case, that old connector needs a decent amount of straight clearance (at least 30~35mm) before you bend it.

ADATA sells PC PSU using their XPG brand.
The XPG Core Reactor II is decent (built by reputable OEM CWT), but it uses the less safe 12VHPWR connector.
